View Full Version : Disturbed - Indestructible (simply awesome)
Wow, awesome album. Much better then 10K Fists if you ask me. Not quite as good as their 1st (The Sickness) but I don't think they can ever top that. Still, I was very happy with this album. Every song is rock solid, gonna be lots of hits on this one.

I'm not really into hard rock too much anymore but what I do like about disturbed is they don't sacrifice having a melody just to be hard. So many hard rock bands forget that all great bands have melodies. Black Sabbath etc jumps to mind in the hard genre.

Its on my mp3 player and the songs I heard were good. I have not listened to alll of it yet. I realy liked the 10,000 fist album.
What I realy want to hear is the new Motley crue and shinedown. Interested in what the old rockers will bring to the table and shinedowns last album was good. I want to see if they produce another good album.
The best metal album I heard in a long time is five finger death punch. check it out if you are interested in that kind of music.

i went to coachella this summer and saw Roger Waters do Dark Side of the Moon. Even though it wasn't pink floyd, and given the fact that i'm too young to have had a realistic shot at seeing them live, it was still the best show i've ever seen. I'm also quite convinced that it was the best concert i will see for the rest of my life. 30 something years later and minus a handful of band members and it is STILL exponentially better than anything out there right now... that's both amazing and sad at the same time.
i've seen all the mainstream rock bands... tool, disturbed, korn, manson, ramstein, incubus, pantera, ozzy.. you name it.. nothing compares, not even close. Even the supposed non-mainstream bands that everyone knows about and are on all the radio stations... it's the same thing..
i'm sure disturbed's new album will make them a bunch of money.. good for them..

One thing is you need to realize these younger musicians can't play all that well. Bands like Black Sabbath, Mettalica, Queen, LedZepplin, those dudes were great musicians and studied jazz and classical theory so they wouldn't be just avg players. Young musicians today just don't compare for the most part.
Also rock music as far as guitar goes has become way to much chugging out chords and not enough guys playing great leads.
Maybe it's time for you to listen to some jazz

Yeah Don Myrick (alto sax) named the EWF horn section the Phenix horns when they played with other groups. I figured more people would know who EWF was only horn players usually know about THE Phenix horns.
The true king of soul/funk horn sections however it Tower or Power.
What's funny as I saw EWF last night at the Greek Theater. Only 3 original members at this point but I still give them a 6 1/2 .

If you want to hear/see some hot guitar licks check out Lucinda Williams
LIVE FROM AUSTIN TX -- this was an Austin City Limits show that -- years later -- became a DVD music album. It's available at amazon for peanuts.
Lucinda is without a doubt the hottest country sound since Hank Williams in the 1950s. She also does incredible rock, folks and blues. In other words, she does it all.
She not only writes her own music -- she play a wicked guitar herself. And the crew backing her up are off the charts. This is for serious music lovers.

I personaly cant stand disturbed...
Good music to check out
3 (played with dream theater, Opeth, and BTBAM on progressive nation tour...wich was FREAKING AMAZING)
Oh, Sleeper (on tour now with Demon Hunter, Living Sacrafice, the Famine, and Advent)
The Famine (the Solid State version of Lamb of God)
Once Nothing (Blue Collar Metal...technicaly sound with a gimick that works)
Opeth (their new material that is about to come out is unbelivable...heard some of their new songs at the progressive nation concert and all I can say is WOW)
Evergrey (just got into them...very very good...intresting lyrics too.)
Between the Buried and Me (CDs been out for a few months now but if you havent checked it out you should do your self a favor and buy it today...NC represent)
Winds of Plague (intresting...very heavy...but fun at times)
those are some good sugestions in recently released material...far superior to Disturbed

That's exactly how I see it. Nothing is gonna touch Sickness, but this was good.
I watch a ton of concerts on DVD now that people are making them and it's cool when you see a group sound as good live as on the album. Matchbox 20 was very good and so was Godsmack. John Mayer kicks some but on his guitar but I get sick of his high whispery voice. I also watched some older concerts and HEART was to die for. Is there a better song then Magic Man? I don't think so. Styx was good too.

I got to see Godmsack open for Metallica back in 2003, they were real good and the best part about them opening is they only had about a 50 minute set(which for a band with 3 platinum CD's and a ton of billboard singles, that is short), so they just played their hits.

One of the top concerts I went to was disturbed even, they rocked and they had a great group of opening bands with them: unloco, Taproot, and Chevelle.
Unloco is not heard from anymore, but if you want a good rock CD, put in their "Becoming I" cd, it's great.
Taproot's first 2 CD's were very good as well, and "Poem" is one of the catchiest rock songs around. They've fallen off after their 3rd CD(think it's called october sky or something like that), but this concert was before then and they were very good.
This concert was right after chevelle released their CD "wonder whats next?" and the only song most people heard from them was "The red." Little did everyone know that by the year 2007 they'd be on their 3rd platinum CD and headlining their own tours.(And they happen to be one of my more favorite bands.)
All in all it was a great show, rarely do you see a regular concert(aside from festivals) put that much talent up on stage, one after another.
