WALKER SPEAKS, MAKES NO SENSE
Posted by Mike Florio on June 17, 2008, 10:45 p.m. EDT
Raiders receiver Javon Walker has given an exclusive interview to TheDirty.com, a web site that gathered notoriety over the past few months for, among other things, the publication of photographs of NFL players in compromising positions.
Here’s Walker’s claim: “I was just back at my room and at about 5:30 in the morning, I got a knock at the door, I opened it and 3 guys with guns were there, they cracked me in the head a few times knocking me unconcious. They then robbed me of everything I had– my watch– money– everything! Somehow they got me to the car and dropped me off in the street. That’s what happened.”
Our reaction? Perhaps they need to check out Walker’s brain function a little more closely. Because whatever it was that cracked his orbital bone also might have functioned as the equivalent of a lobotomy.
Think about it. Three gun-wielding thugs walk through the lobby and, somehow knowing the number of Walker’s room, show up there, knock on the door, and pistol whip him when he opens it. Then, after ransacking the room, they drag his unconscious body out of the hotel without being detected and leave it in the street.
Also, and as our buddy Jason Whitlock has pointed out via e-mail since we initially posted this item, there are surveillance cameras everywhere in Vegas. So if Javon was staying at the swankiest hotel or at the Motel 6 at 707 Fremont Avenue, chances are that there’s footage somewhere of the marauding gang of thugs who accosted Walker at his room and dragged his unconscious body to their car. The likely absence of such video evidence will blow his story out of the water.
As we suggested during our Tuesday night visit with Todd Wright on Sporting News Radio, maybe the crooks put Brandon Marshall’s McDonald’s bag over Walker’s head so that Javon wouldn’t know where they were taking him.
If Walker’s story is true (and we’re certain that it isn’t), it’s surely not a random act. Robbers just want the loot — they feel no need to disrespect the victim if doing so enhances the possibility of being caught.
Given this lame-ass explanation, we’ve concluded that any and all jokes about the situation are fair game. And so we present Taco Bill’s Pic of the Day, crafted in honor of the Walker incident.

This makes absolutely no sense what so ever...why would these thugs knock him out in his room, rob him and then proceed to take him to a car only to dump him a few blocks away...the next thing coming out of javons mouth will be an explanation of how he was still suffering from the concusion while being questioned about the first story..

I can't believe anybody is taking this Florio tripe seriously. I'm not sold on Walker's story either, but what the hell does Florio know about how robbers feel about disrespecting their victims? What a clown.
Two weeks ago a family friend got home and found their place ransacked. Up in their bedroom, they found a crowbar and a hammer dropped on the floor near the bed. The police say that the robber took the tools up there to "disable" them.
Florio is classless.

Javon Walker is a very close friend of ours and we have been reticent about writing the story surrounding the robbery and assault that he was the victim of early Monday morning at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.
Bellagio Hotel and Casino has about 5 million cameras everywhere...maybe more. There's no way they won't have this on video if his story is true.

the fact that he is blatantly lying about who punched and the circumstances surrounding the attack leads me to two obvious conclusions;
1.It was in fact Mayweather or one of his friends that punched him out after having invited him into their limo, he was acting like a dick in the club so they decided to pretend to be cool with him, and get him out of the club-where they then dropped him off on the curb and a random robbed him or
2.He got on the wrong side of a gangster, possibly attached to one of the strippers in the club with him, who then got him into a car under the auspices of a good time at a stripclub/ private residence, then beat/robbed/threatened him
Has mobster smack down written all over it, either his pride or health is at stake here. Otherwise, doesn't make any sense at all.

Part of me feels sorry for Javon; there's a serious disconnect between reality and how he sees the world and his place in it.
I still recall how sympathetic I was towards Javon after Dwill's horrible loss; a year later, so very much has changed in how I see the man. Too bad for Javon, such a tragedy didn't register at a moral and persceptive level.

Sad part is, the only seemingly respectable about this human being is his ability to catch a football and not the 99.9% that composes the rest of him.
He even managed to turn the D-Will and Nash situation into about him by carrying that faggy little belt to "honor their memories" (bull****) and his mohawk haircut.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Norm Clarke, Walker was seen Saturday night at Tryst at the Wynn spraying the crowd with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignon Rose champagne he ordered. Clarke also said Walker was at Body English at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino until 6:30 a.m. Monday and that his first round of champagne cost him $15,000.
So he left the Hard Rock at 6:30...and was found at 7:19 unconscious right around the block

I can relate having personally delt with PTSD myself. About 8 years ago I hit a 3 y/o kid who ran out in front of me with my truck. I was not at fault, nothing I could have done. I couldn't get that visual out of my head for weeks... couldn't drive down that street... couldn't sleep. Getting in the truck, seeing small kids, etc immediately brought back the memory like it just happened all over again. I can only imagine that Javon wanted as far away from that memory as possible... and I understand that decision... for what its worth.
Well I can say that I have vast experience with PTSD from myself to all the guys that served with and under me.

So you honestly think that Javon was dealing with a full set of cards three days after watching his friend exanguinate through his neck? I don't think he was being disrespectful at all. I think he wanted as far away from that memory as possible... which you should know is one of the most prevalent behaviors exhibited with PTSD.

The diagnostic criteria for PTSD, per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV may be summarized as:
A. Exposure to a traumatic event
B. Persistent reexperience (e.g. flashbacks, nightmares)
C. Persistent avoidance of stimuli associated with the trauma (e.g. inability to talk about things even related to the experience. Avoidance of things and discussions that trigger flashbacks and reexperiencing symptoms. Fear of losing control and harming another person.)
D. Persistent symptoms of increased arousal (e.g. difficulty falling or staying asleep, anger and hypervigilance )
E. Duration of symptoms more than 1 month
F. Significant impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning (e.g. problems with work and relationships.)
Now the only thing not exhibited by Javon in this situation was the persistance of symptoms x 1 month... although it would be reasonable to assume that he was still having every symptom a month later. Certainly, he fits the bill based on all accounts. Cut the guy some slack for skipping the funeral.

If he can't deal with a ****ing funeral for a "close friend" because of his own selfish issues then by no means should ever refer to himself as a man again. He should have been branded with a huge "V" for vagina on his forehead, for pussy **** like that, in all honesty.

I think that's harsh. I'm not going to judge someone who's had a friend murdered in their arms, awash in his blood. People are different and each person deals with grief in his or her own way. Just because your comrades were able to attend funerals of their friends doesn't mean that Walker's behavior inexcusable. People deal with grief in their own way on their own terms. Come on... the guy loses someone in his arms in the party scene and is able to be partying in Vegas within a few weeks if I remember correctly... yet everyone wants to excuse his actions for PTSD? I don't doubt the situation had a very deep impact on the guy but he's had quite a while to deal with it and if he insists on dealing with it in a self-destructive manor (if this is all linked to that night) then he needs to be a man and get help.
If his relief were drinking and he kept getting DUIs... that'd be inexcusable. What happens if rather than cave his face in, someone decided to start shooting a-la Pacman Jones in Vegas? This guy is having a lot of excuses thrown his way and he needs to either deal with his issues or get help... until then, these decisions are his and he can't go on forever hiding behind a shield of PTSD. Until he can man up and deal with the situation, he got what he deserved and I'm just thankful no innocent bystanders got hurt this time.

Exactly. And not giving a couple hours to do whats right by attending the funeral is unforgivable. There's plenty of other military guys on this site, find one of them who has had friends die in front of them, and ask if they'd even CONSIDER for a heartbeat no-showing at the departed's funeral. Nothing tough about it, it's just sub-human to not do it.

From the ESPN article in the comment section..thought this was kinda funny:
Las Vegas, NV - Star Jones was recently seen picking up one Javon Walker from as Las Vegas hospital. When asked for comment Ms. Jones had this to say:
Reporter: Ms. Jones, are you a friend of Mr. Walker?
Ms. Jones: We met last night and I put him here.
Reporter: You mean to say you brought him to the hospital, I thought the police found him...
Ms. Jones: No, I whooped him.
Reporter: You're admitting to the crime! Why did you do this?
Ms. Jones: Honey, I am a cougar on the prowl. I was out making the rounds and boom, champagne is all over me. I just had to see who got me so wet.
Reporter: Rumor has it that it could have been either Floyd Mayweather or Mr. Walker that got you all wet. Why choose Mr. Walker? He has far less money.
Ms. Jones: As you know I like a man that doesn't do much. Mr. Walker has business savvy, he signs big contracts then doesn't work. I like that in a man.
Reporter: Sounds like a match made in heaven, why the beat down?
Ms. Jones: Mr. Walker asked me to have breakfast with him, but he didn't want to take a cab.
Reporter: So you beat him?
Ms. Jones: Heck no, I was hungry. I beat him because he wanted IHOP but I wanted Denny's. I mean, how you spray 15K worth of champagne and then take me to IHOP, I'm better than that.
Reporter: I see your point, so then you beat him down.
Ms Jones: Absolutely, and then I took all his posessions and ate big!

Check Out This Javon Rumor Rumors abound: Floyd Mayweather a suspect?
By Rob Calonge | June 17th, 2008
When a big story hits, rumors begin to flow. Here at TFDS, we are normally picking through the rumors of the mainstream press in order to find corroboration to an Oakland Raiders story. While doing this, I stumbled upon a site that I’m not familiar with, spouting a rumor that is almost too good to pass up.
The Blog is called ‘Buzzer Beater‘ and the writer is Mike Seely. In his Blog, he claims to have a friend that is a co-worker with Javon Walker’s best friend. This best friend was reportedly with Walker in Vegas on the night/morning of the assault. The following is a direct quote from this Blog, so take from it what you will:
“Evidently, Walker was at a club drinking and a well-known boxer (Update: Spy On Vegas’ party roundup puts Floyd Mayweather at the scene, so yeah, that’s who our tipster’s talking about here) was at another table. Walker ordered 5 bottles of Vodka, so the boxer orders 10 bottles of vodka trying to one-up him. Walker then orders another 5 bottles for his entourage. Evidently, both groups were pretty hammered and words were exchanged. When Walker leaves to go back to their hotel, they are followed by some chick. Walker jumps out of the cab at the traffic light and gets in with the chick following behind. That was the last they saw of Walker. Evidently, another vehicle was following behind the chick and ran the chick off the road and beat the heck out of Walker. Reports haven’t been released that the boxer was involved, so we’ll see what transpires. As you know, the boxer lives in Vegas and it’s his town. His thugs probably beat the heck out of [Walker] and stole his watch and wallet, making it look like a robbery. They left him in some alley. They say Walker may never play again as his face sustained multiple fractures.“
Now, I’m not going to read too much into this story. Like any story that you may hear from your friends when alcohol is involved, the real picture gets cluttered. If, however, this story turns out to be more ‘truth’ than ‘rumor’ then it would be fair to say that Walker has made a very awful mistake in judgment.

Bogus BS. He was found "around the corner" down an alley. Maybe we should wait for teh police report. Since Javon doesn't have a PR guy - Where is his agent here? - then the report should come out unfettered......
He was in one of Vegas' best hotel/casinos, in a secure suite, three armed men made it past security up to the suite area, knocked on his door at 5:00 AM, he opened the door without looking through the peephole at 5:00 AM, was knocked out, robbed, and carried unconscious through the hotel, the casino, past security, outside into the street and dumped? Yeah, ok Javon. Try making it to any suite access point in the Bellagio if you're not supposed to be there, it's not going to happen. Las Vegas is a lot of things, and heavily secured is one of them. Those casinos have cameras and security personnel everywhere. If he was dragged out of the hotel it'll be on tape somewhere. It's not. I really hope the truth comes out because I'm tired of ridiculous excuses from athletes, celebrities, politicians, etc.

You know what puzzles me the most about the doubters?, there isn't one shred of evidence to say it was anything other then an accident...I mean no criminal police reports, no rumors on the net (like what we're seeing with walker) no anything...other then suspicions for their own various reasons and or dislike for the guy...i don't understand why this accident is so hard to comprehend?...he was on vacation with his family for Gods sake, which is very well documented..
I went through a similar accident while rough housing with my brother 16 years ago...only he fell through a glass coffey table after he lost his ballance, stepped one foot back and slipped on a blastic grocery bag while i was pushing on him...his back was cut in several areas and was a mess, but he healed up alright in time and lesson learned...
Strange accidents happen all the time...key it up on google, there will be a list a mile long...getting hurt while rough housing with family isn't an uncommon accident in my book..
Marshall is guilty of a few things IMO like; speaking before he thinks, bad judgement at times and acting immature at others, along with his D.U.I., which is his biggest mistake to date, but IMO those are the only things there are..
The young man is learning his lessons in life and maturing before our very eyes, he's working hard to overcome his mistakes and put them in the past...I suggest we as fans try and do the same...

I still disagree. I've known hundreds of (and am) people that experience the disease, show up to dozens of the funerals for the "stressor". Especially when it's shortly after the cause of the accident, you can't escape the "stressor" anyway, and it's easily mistaken for early signs of grief... so it's no excuse either way.

I've never been at the funeral of a fallen buddy but we did do ceremonies loading the flag draped coffin on the planes... wouldn't say I enjoyed it by any means but I'd never miss one. People deal with their problems differently but I think it takes a lot of... something... to refuse to go to a funeral in this scenario.
As for the hotel thing, I definitely believe this site has connections to Javon (they're more established than to be simply making up stuff) but this one will be easily proven one way or the other. It'll be on video and if Javon did in fact tell these people the story, he most likely told some authorities as well. Unfortunately for him, you can't be Javon Walker partying like he was and not have witnesses that place him somewhere other than the hotel room if he wasn't there. I sure hope he didn't actually play the "that's my story and I'm stickin' to it" line with the hotel abduction scheme because he's really gonna suffer a PR fallout when it's proven bogus.
I know this is going to sound terrible... but I hope his career is over. He's been spoiled so bad that he's spraying a crowd with more money than I can afford on a new car and not thinking twice about it. I hope Al Davis goes after his signing bonus the way they went after Kellen Winslow's (after the motorcycle accident) and Javon ends up enjoying the $40,000 a year lifestyle that many of us get to enjoy. If these people want to throw away opportunities, let them. They'll regret it later.

Raiders' Walker released from hospital after Vegas mugging
Javon Walker was "quickly recovering" following hospitalization for a concussion and facial injuries after a Las Vegas robbery.
Walker was released from a hospital, and his agent released a statement Wednesday in which the 29-year-old Walker thanked those who offered prayers and support.
Walker was found unconscious early Monday on a street near the Las Vegas Strip after a night of partying during which he was photographed spraying a nightclub crowd with champagne.
Agent Kennard McGuire said Walker was "recovering in a private environment." An aide to McGuire, of MS World in Richmond, Texas, declined to say where Walker was staying.
"Javon looks forward to getting back to his family and teammates," the statement said, "and is looking forward to the start of the upcoming season."
Police Lt. Clinton Nichols said a large amount of cash and some jewelry were taken from Walker.
Nichols said Tuesday that detectives planned to interview Walker before his release from the hospital about his activities in the hours before he was robbed. Nichols did not immediately return messages left Wednesday.
A Raiders spokesman said the team was in the process of gathering information and had no further comment.
Walker signed a six-year, $55 million deal with the Raiders after being released by the Denver Broncos in February.

It's cool that you disagree... each person deals with loss differently. My viewpoint, though, is that if there was the slightest chance that his presence at the funeral could even possibly have provided an iota of comfort to Darrent's mother, then he should have taken that into account and been there. The fact that he chose to party in Vegas instead doesn't reflect well on his character. If he was going to blow off the funeral, he should have kept a lower profile, don't you think?

From The Rev's post right above mine:
"You didn't see his real friends and family doing HBO specials, mohawk haircuts, or championship belts, because those were all about Javon, and nothing about Darrent or Damien."

Raiders expect Walker back for training camp
ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) - The Oakland Raiders expect new receiver Javon Walker to be ready for training camp when he recovers from injuries incurred during a robbery in Las Vegas last weekend.
Raiders coach Lane Kiffin finally spoke to Walker by phone on Wednesday morning, more than two days after Walker was discovered unconscious and beaten on a back street near the Las Vegas Strip following a night of partying. Walker was released from a hospital after treatment for a concussion and facial injuries.
"The info that I have is he's going to be fine," Kiffin said. "Training camp won't be an issue. ... But until our guys look at him, I don't want to say (the extent of Walker's injuries)."
Kiffin said Walker was scheduled to fly to Oakland on Wednesday evening in time to attend the final session of the Raiders' organized team activities on Thursday, though he obviously won't suit up with quarterback JaMarcus Russell and his new teammates. Oakland opens training camp July 25 in Napa.
"We are aware that Javon Walker was the victim of a robbery," Raiders spokesman Mike Taylor said in a statement. "We have been told that he will make a full recovery in the near future and resume his preparation for the 2008 NFL season." A Las Vegas police spokesman said a large amount of cash and expensive jewelry were taken from Walker, who was photographed earlier in the fateful evening spraying a nightclub crowd with champagne. His agent, Kennard McGuire, said Walker was "recovering in a private environment" on Wednesday.

KSK’s Fake Interview With Javon Walker
None of us at KSK are close personal friends with NFL players like the guys over at The Dirty, so we haven’t had the opportunity to speak directly to Javon Walker regarding his rather dubious story.
Until now!
Javon is out of the hospital and we’ve managed to secure the definitive interview.
KSK: Hey Javon, thanks for taking the time to answer some of our lingering questions.
JW: No problem, I just want to clear the air and get back to football.
KSK: So first off, where were you on at 5:30 Monday morning, and exactly what was it you were doing.
JW: See, I wasn’t out at the club like that pirate dude been sayin’, I was in my hotel room at Bellagio. I was sittin’ there doin’ my thing. You know, sippin’ some Earl Grey and goin’ over my new playbook with Squawk Box on in the background. I can’t start my day without a lil’ Becky Quick.
KSK: So what happened next.
JW: Well I hear this knock at my door, and I hear some voice sayin’ they got my room service. Now I know that’s some bull****, because Consuela brought up my tea and a fresh melon a half hour before.
KSK: Honeydew or cantaloupe?
JW: Oh it’s gotta be honeydew. That’s the money melon.
KSK: Excellent, please continue.
JW: So I figure I’m dealin’ with some jokesters or some such nonsense and I tell ‘em I didn’t order ****. Then a couple minutes later there’s another knock and some guy out in the hall is sayin’ how he’s locked out of his room and he needs to call his girl to come meet up with him, cause she’s got the other key. I get up to take a look out the peephole and see these three shady lookin’ fools outside the door.
KSK: And you opened it?
JW: Not right away. First off I told him to take his ass down to the reception desk to get a new key, or at least call his woman from the lobby phone. But he says they ain’t helpin’ him out down there cause them’s some racist assholes. Well that’s some **** I can understand, so I tell this guy that he can come on in to use the phone, but his boys gotta stay out in the hall ’cause they was strapped.
KSK: But those armed men didn’t stay in the hallway as you insisted?
JW: No, they did not. I mean, what kind of world are we living in where people can just lie like that, flat out. I can’t stand these ****in’ liars, man.
KSK: Yeah, lying is pretty weak. So what happened after you opened the door?
JW: Those lyin’ ****ers came through and cracked me in the head with one of them guns. Next thing I know I’m on the ground takin’ a beatin’ and I’m just tryin’ to protect my playbook. You know, I’m thinkin’ maybe these guys were sent by the Broncos or some ****.
KSK: So you weren’t involved in any sort of altercation with these men at the club the previous night?
JW: Nah man, we were just enjoying a slam poetry performance when a candle tipped over and started a fire. I happened to be celebrating Tiger’s eagle on 18 with some friends, so I took our champagne and doused the blaze before anyone could get hurt. I was like, a hero and ****.
KSK: Wow, what an incredible story!
JW: Right?
KSK: So getting back to the assault, what happened after you were knocked to the floor?
JW: Well I started swallowing pages of the playbook so that Mike Shanahan and his goons could never get their hands on it.
KSK: And what made you think that these men were sent by your former coach?
JW: I’ll answer your question with another question: Who else could possibly want to harm Javon Walker?
KSK: …
JW: Exactly! So I’m chewin’ up some hot routes and these guys are pawin’ at my wristwatch, but I figured they were after the book, so I resisted. Just then I feel a crack on the back of my head, and everything goes black.
KSK: That’s incredible.
JW: Yup. So I’m layin’ there unconscious and they hoist me up and start walkin’ me out into the hallway.
KSK: Hang on a second. How did you know they were carrying you down the hallway if you were unconscious?
JW: Because when I’m unconscious all my other senses go into, like, overdrive. You know what I’m sayin?
KSK: Not really, but please go on.
JW: So they’re draggin’ my ass into the elevator and down to the main level, but security doesn’t notice, because they got this string tied around my wrist to make it look like I’m wavin’ to all my fans. It was just like that movie.
KSK: Weekend At Bernies?
JW: Exactly! It was like some Weekend At Bernie’s type ****! But the first one, not that gay ass sequel.
KSK: Where did you go from there?
JW: Well they got me out of the building and into the parking garage. I was still unconscious, but my subconscious knew what was up. Then they toss me in the trunk of this Town Car and start driving off. At some point I woke up and thought to myself “Man, I need to get the **** outta here before they deliver me to Shanahan.” So I pry open the trunk with some MacGyver type **** I found back there. I wasn’t sure if they noticed, so I didn’t even bother waiting for them to stop, I just jumped out of that bitch goin’ about 50 down the boulevard. When I landed I cracked my orbital **** on the curb, and the next thing I knew I was waking up in the hospital.
KSK: Holy ****, man!
JW: Right?
KSK: You’re a hero!

2 nights of champagne showers at clubs
More accurately, 2 rounds... Javon was reportedly buying 15 bottles at a time.

Just an interesting (to me) note to add:
A radio talk show here had a former gang member call in, and he said that they always had members at strip clubs looking for high rollers, and they would call their buds when they were looking to leave.
SOP for them.

I suspect he got wasted, was bumbling around and fell on his head because he was so hammered he couldn't move. Then some vagrant came by and stole his crap and walked away while he lay in pool of his own vomit.
I think Steve Sabol showed up with a crappy NFL fims crew and did every verse to Javon as an Initiation that went bad:
