As rumor has it, Raiders owner Al Davis thinks that receiver Javon Walker is the key to the team’s 2008 season.

If that’s the case, it might be time to start making plans for the first overall pick in the 2009 draft.

Walker, who has a bad knee that traces to a torn ACL in 2005, was found unconscious on a Las Vegas street on Monday morning, according to FOX 5.

He was taken to a nearby hospital, and is in fair condition with a fracture to an orbital bone.

Per media reports, Walker was seen on Saturday night spraying the crowd at Tryst night club with some of the 15 bottles of Dom Perignon champagne he had ordered

I could believe this, i mean we all know Walker likes the loose party lifestyle...he's in sin city quite often and not to long ago he was one of the headline guest names at AVN awards...so yeah, i wouldn't be shocked if this is more then just a rumore...good riddance and nothing personal javon; can't play for the Broncos anymore because it's not best for javon, javon...

It's well seen he can afford that after the Dick Turpin of the NFL robbed 2 of the 32 franchises. Who's the next sucker???

Didnt Romo end that one dudes career back in Jokeland by breaking his orbital bone or something like that? (I think the injury Romo inflicted was much worse though)

Wasn't the spraying of champagne one of the items stated that started the situation that ended up in the killing of D-Will?
I was initially disappointed that we cut him and he went to the Raiders, now I am glad we do not have him around at all, and Shanny uncerimoniously let him go.

I loved Javon's playing for us up until the time he went all ME ME ME after the last game of the season. Then he's showed absolutely no class towards us since then. But I'm sorry to hear about this injury as I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I wonder if his contract has a clause about forfeiting money if he has a non football injury. Maybe Vegas isn't right for Javon either?

YUP. Javon Walker is an ass, and maybe now he will finally have learned his lesson. People don't give a rats ass who you are, and they sure as hell don't want some attention whore athlete spraying them and their women down with champagne.

Not taking joy out of it, and it's not like he got a drive by and was shot and killed. If he was acting appropriately and got jumped, yeah sucks for him. If he was acting how the article indicates, he deserves to get his. It probably is premature to say, though, so you're right there.

I also did a quick search on orbital fracture rehab info. Surgery should take place 10-14 days after the injury (after swelling has gone down). Rehab lasts 3-6 weeks thereafter.

So Javon should be football-ready in 5-8 weeks. In other words, 'in time.'

You and I don't know that. Lynch probably cannot run fast enough to cover him. Baily will be out of the play because Walker will be on the other side. It would be Bly who gets the honors. And Bly is a midget compared to Walker and he has been known to give up a pass or three. Now, if the Dline gets to that fat burger in the pocket, then I think you might have a point. But to conclude as you did is a bit short of understanding strategy of a football game, and fails the smell test......

For sure, last year at the OM weekend, some drunk fool spilled beer on a guy.

He over reacted, but was ready to tear his head off.

Simply put, Javon needs professional help but he refuses to get any..IMO Javon has issues and inner demons he's running from..he's coping by living a faster party lifestyle and drowning his sorrows...Sad really, i hope as a person Javon can help himself and make some wiser choices in the future before things go to far for Javon...

Post from a Raider board:

"This guy has been doing this every weekend since he signed with the Raiders, my boy lives in Vgeas and works in the night life industry so he sees Javon every night out at the clubs doing the same thing every night, hanging with his boys, buying bottles of champagne all night long and acting a fool......"

Lynch, there's no such thing as overreacting to a beer shower. I absolutely cannot stand that, no matter what the circumstances are. People can say whatever they want, but it's a big reason why I moved out of the upper decks and into the wine and cheesers section..... there's no chance of that happening there Ha!

It's an unfortunate event. I hope he recovers well. That said, he would have gotten his sorry fade ass kicked up and down that field on National television. So its better for him that he doesn't play, because he wouldn't have been able to back up his trash talk. Bailey and Lynch woulda broke his ass down son!

All I know is if my boy died in my arms after playing the fool at a club, the last place I would run to is Vegas and live that life over, put yourself in that same situation, over and over...........

Don't know much about real psychology, do you, Wolf?

Freud called it the "repetition compulsion." When difficult or painful events happen in life that are out of our ability to control, it's really common to see people put themselves into the same position over and over again. Each time they're hoping on a subconscious level to do SOMEthing differently so the outcome will be better and the leftover issue will be resolved. It's the compulsion that says "THIS time I can do it right" or "I can handle it better this time."

There are examples all around, especially in relationships. Like the woman who always find the loser boyfriends who will beat her down, and she goes from one to the next. Or like the guy who seems to have his act together but keeps finding gold-diggers (male or female) who clean out his bank account and take him for everything he's worth. (If heterosexual, this guy usually ends up married and divorced about a half-dozen times.)

It's the same compulsion that is at the core of addictions like gambling, that don't involve actual chemicals. "This time I can win... this time my luck will hold..."

I figure that Javon is far more to be pitied than scorned. One definition of insanity lies in doing the same things over and over, while hoping for a different outcome.

m.

Well I'm not a fan of Freud, though I agree in part in the sense that Javon probably has deep personal wounds. I know a lot of people with deep personal pain use other things to numb themselves from it. This type of behavior (in my experience) isn't to try and "get it right" so much as "anything to make how I feel inside go away". I don't identify with Freud on a lot of levels, but I think there is some truth to where he was going.

I wouldn't mind seeing Oakland lose every game next season, but I still wish Javon the best because I enjoyed having him in Denver (that belt he carried around for DW and Nash last season was incredible!) and I don't blame anybody for looking out for themselves in the NFL.

I know this is the web and everyone goes for shock value and Enet tough guy route , and i have done it on some issues , But kinda shocked at the reaction to this after we lost a player to a night club issue ... I mean i understand little jabs and whatnot but if this was a thread on a board members family member or a player on our team being trolled and $hit on by fans of another team people would be screaming for bans ... i will repeat i know a lot of it is just jabs and we don't even know yet if Javonperignon just fell on his head and passed out ... But i just thought we was better then Raiders fans ... Sam Weich comes to mind and thinking what is this Cleveland ??? I know he has been a total @$$ and said a lot of stupid stuff , but football and life are two totally different things ... and if Lynch ended his Football LIFE i wouldn't care but to MAYBE almost lose his life and cheer about it just seems a little tasteless ...

Lets not get all preachy and try and be the moral compass here. Javon got his ass beat, no one shot him. He didn't attempt to slice anyone up (ray ray). Simply put, the dude got rolled.

One thing that a guy here on talk radio always says "I've never seen money improve someone's character". I think this is 100% applicable in this situation. Javon has shown over and over that he is a MeShawn.

I have no sympathy for him one bit, oh, and he is a Raider.

It seems like everyone on the mane has had a chance to throw their two cents in and I would be remiss if I didn't do the same.

I was fired up when we acquired Javon from GB and he did some really great things in Denver for a year or so. But his exit from the Broncos organization was classless. He is a selfish person and, apparently, very aloof.

You would think a life-altering event such as D-Will's seath would shape a person...make them grow up and realize just how precious every day is. But what does Javon do? He cries and whines about how many balls are being thrown his way while he is injured. He went on to throw the organization under the bus.

Now that he got what he wanted (tons of guaranteed money). Again, you'd think he would say: "Alright...I got my nest egg. I am going to take good care of my body and my finances. I will pPlay for the next 6-7 years and call it a career with tons in the bank".

But no, he turns around and spends the offseason in Sin City and jeopardizes his career by living an unhealthy lifestyle. He is getting his just desserts and I don't feel bad for him at all. It was his choice to live this way...he'll have to deal with the consequences.

Since being granted his request to be released, Javon has jumped at every opportunity to trash and diss the Broncos organization. Why should fans of (his words) "that team" have any sympathy for an ungrateful malcontent who's now with "the enemy"? ???

You can't be serious? You are saying that by dissing a football team you like, and by signing with a football team you don't like, that Javon deserves to be robbed and beaten unconscious? Man, there are a lot of sick folks on this thread.

Nobody deserves to get beaten and robbed, and it's wrong to make fun of that. Being a selfish player doesn't mean he should get a beat down.

But I don't get the guy. He's got big time talent, and when healthy he has produced big time. His selfish attitude is robbing him of a great career. If he had stayed with the Broncos, and gotten healthy, he and Marshall would put up big time numbers with Cutler. They would be damn near impossible to cover. He just threw all that away because of one game (vs. Jags).

I'd say that he deserves to go down as a major waste of talent, but he doesn't deserve to get beat down. It wish it could have worked out with the Broncos, but seeing how he has acted since the end of the season, I don't feel bad for the guy (football wise).

It may not be politically correct to think it's funny Javon got robbed and beat but that won't stop me. I certainly understand people not wanting to see other people be robbed and beat. Things like that happening are not good for any of us.

but.................

If any ex bronco this yr was going to get whacked in the eye I'm glad it was Walker and not someone like Elam who I would really feel sorry for.

Walker IMO has not learned his lesson. I said after Darrent got killed that if people want to roll out like pimps, drawing attention to themselves, throwing money around, drinking, partying, out in clubs they will be rubbing shoulders with the thugs. Partying in clubs and being fools is also what a lot of thugs like to do. If your going to do it ( and there is nothing wrong I'm not judging it) you better be ultra aware of your surroundings and have a plan to keep safe.

When you grow up in Long Beach CA like I did you learn how to avoid the clubs, bars, thugs etc. If you are going to draw there attention though you better be aware. You don't get in a verbal fight then cruise out in your LIMO with the music so loud you cant hear a thing. You don't throw money around in a club by spraying 500 dollar a bottle alcohol then walk alone drunk in Vegas.

You do those things and you are being really stupid.

I think honestly that his bad choices partially led to DWill's demise. I am wondering if he'll see the common denominator in the two incidents here. One would tend to think the guy would think before acting a fool in a club and spraying everyone with champagne, seems it tends to piss people off. Yes I know the reports said he was robbed, but the point is, he's drawing unnecessary attention to himself constantly.

Didn't Javon got to that club by himself on New Year's Eve? Wasn't Javon trying to call a cab home when one of the club staff suggest D-Will give Javon a ride home? I thought it was D-Will's entourage that caused the mailee that lead to D-Will's demise. It was just chance that Javon was in that limo. It's unfair to place what happened to D-Will on Javon.

But Javon's behavior since has all been Javon. I can attest that witnessing tragedy doesn't scare you straight but can have a damaging effect so I can't bash the guy but he does need help.

To know I guess we would need better perspective of what Javon was like before football. If his HS coach said he was some shy kid who didn't seem to like attention, and now he is acting like this, then I would say you may be on to something. Some people just get so bored at home. They have to go out and get into trouble. I have a few friends like that.

More then anything its the money that disengages these fools from reality. Players like Jake Plummer are the exception it seems. Say what we want about him but he was laid back and down to earth and those traits served him well.

There are completely unfounded rumors (we repeat . . . completely unfounded rumors) that the incident started with a champagne bidding war between Walker and Floyd Mayweather (http://www.withleather.com/post.phtml?pk=6076), and that a member of Mayweather’s entourage later stumbled upon Walker and proceeded to beat him into a pulp.

I just wonder if any of you that think like this would respond if he went to a non rival team. Is it just possible that you few (and I hope it is few) have no heart? Agreed. In the end its always about accountability. Most of the people defending him just dont understand that. Does he deserve to be beaten? No. But when you put yourself in shady enviroments or situations that could lead to trouble than as you say, trouble will find you. I dont feel sorry for him, especially after what happened with Darrent. If watching a guy die in your arms isnt a wake up call to bettering yourself and your lifestyle than you have no one to blame but yourself if tragedy befalls you.

exactly my point...he has already had a "lucky" break in his life being that he wasn't even grazed by a bullet or anything else that night....then goes out and does the same thing that got him into that situation

fine....go ahead and have "fun" and spray your champagne and then go wander the streets of Vegas by yourself... but don't act surprised when something happens to you.

If someone were to break into his house, tie him up and rob and beat him, I would be right there with some of the people saying "no one deserves this." But that's not the case here....its almost as if he went out of his way to look for trouble

and if you are going to spend $20,000 + on champagne, why not hire a security service for a night like that????

oh, wait, that wouldn't be as "gangsta" or "down with the hood" as it is to roll dolo in Vegas spraying champagne....

What he should do when he gets the urge to blow 20,000 grand in Krystal is donate it the local Boys and Girls club in Oakland. Honor the friend you lost. Me thinks that would be much more productive and less dangerous.

isn't it ironic that Jevon received a black eye (presumably as a by product of his orbital bone injury) and that is exactly what he now represents to the Raiders franchise even before taking the field. His out of shape, high falootin attitude ("no OTA's for me thank you") now rival that of Lord Al himself. Also, ironically, Al Davis has large, dark sacks underneath his eyes so he too is a black eye for his own franchise as well as rotting corpse.LOL

A beating that causes a fractured orbit and leaves someone unconcious is not much different from a beating that leaves someone dead. From all accounts is sounds like Javon is very lucky to have survived this latest nightclub incident. If he would have died, would there have been this tacky outpouring of hate? You guys act like he broke your heart or something... celebrating his violent assault like it was an act of karmic retribution.

This has zero to do with his affiliation with the Denver Broncos, and everything to do with Javon Walker being another overpaid jackass who thinks nothing of trampling on everyone and everything, being the overprivileged champagne spraying money wasting douche that he is. He got punched in the face for acting like a clown. whoever did it is a criminal as well, but what if it was your girlfriend or wife he sprayed down, stupid smile on his face, without being asked for the spraying? I would hope that every red blooded man on this message board would have the guts to punch him out.

If the circumstances somehow completely change and this is just some random robbery, than fine, I will feel somewhat sorry for the fool walking around drunk with a 25k watch on his arm in a sketchy neighborhood- only because he is that stupid and apparently cannot make good decisions for himself. If, however, he got punched out for being the ass that he has been painted as by source after source, than I have not one single iota of sorrow for Javon Walker.

So he jerked your team. It isnt like he actually jerked your family. You should know that you got your retribution by the fact that he went to the Raiders! Yes, he is an idiot. Yes, he probably brought this on himself, but he got seriously jacked up. Get over the dis of denver.

If he did nothing wrong and just happened to be a victim to some mugger, then yeah it sucks. I don't think anyone is saying otherwise.

But plenty of information is surfacing highlighting his actions... if they're accurate, I'm all for what happened to him. Just out of curiosity based on your posts for this matter: Do you think anyone ever deserves to get knocked the **** out?

Only in retaliation to violence... or perhaps as a means to prevent eminent violence. Anything short of that, no... I tend to disapprove of fighting. Its the least intellegent way to solve problems.
