Bought one seeded watermelon from the store. One 750 of Smirnoff. Cut a hole the diameter of my Smirnoff bottle, jammed it it. Cut a parallel "shaft" so there is no vacuum in the watermelon. Two fifths of the bottle are in the melon now. Gonna let it keep going til tomorrow when we eat it.

Yay summer. Pic to follow.

You could've just bought watermelon vodka. I've had watermelon flavored vodka before and I think it's probably the best kind of vodka I've had. Then again this is different, I'm curious to know what it tastes like. Vodka flavored watermelon lolol.

always had a thing a cherry bombs. get a 750 of jack and a large jar of marichino cherrys dump enough of the cherry juice and replace it with the jack and let it sit for as long as you want in the fridge but the cherrys will swell and that is when they are the best!

Well enjoy, my friend... both the melon and the 25 thing. Make it work for you!

Thanx for the invite, BTW, but I dont live near DC anymore. In fact, the commute for that party would be a bit excessive.

Man, I've really outdone myself. I just made the most delicious drink based off of this recipe (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Watermelon-Vodka-Slush/Detail.aspx). I ended up pureeing about 5 cups of watermelon. But I didn't want to wait until it froze into cubes (too late in the night). So I just added ice instead. Basically my modified recipe went something like this:

-Puree watermelon in blender, made about 5 cups.
-A cup and a half of Finlandia Wild Berries vodka. I figured it would add a really nice flavor to the watermelon.
-2 and a half tablespoons of lemon juice (the stuff in the lemon-looking squeezy bottle). I would've added more because I love lemon juice, but it ran out.
-Probably 4 cups of ice...I just kept adding more until the consistency was right.
-Maybe 2 cups of sugar. First I tried the drink with no sugar and it was kinda bland. The sugar made it DELICIOUS and it tastes just like a Jolly Rancher.
-I had a little pineapple in the fridge, so I blended that up, too. Added a really nice flavor to the original concoction. Maybe a half a cup of pineapple. A full cup would be really good, I bet.
-I didn't have any Midori as the recipe called for. But my version is awesome without it.

Blended it all up and voila! For sorta making it up on the go, I am immensely impressed with the result. Yummmmmmy!

SOUNDS GREAT ... but fyi, watermelon has the highest glycemic index level of any fruit. It'll spike your blood insulin 10 ways to Sunday. So if Cutler shows up, just give him a beer. I wonder if Spider was told to avoid watermelon... ?

While the Glycemic Index is pretty high, the Glycemic Load is lower. In other words, the sugar gets into your blood stream pretty quickly. However, there isnt that much sugar to get into your blood to begin with. Making fruits not all that bad.

Besides, if one is loading a watermelon with vodka, I sincerely doubt that they give a damn about the caloric intake, blood sugar level, etc.

Better than buying a bottle of Grey Goose for a weekend party that I'm hosting only to come home to find that my girlfriend took that bottle and made ****ing jello shots for the party.

What a scene, bunch of 25 year olds watching baseball, eating pizza, and doing jello shots...she still isnt off the hook for that one.

Wow, have I been mis-applying this low-GI diet? I'm trying to get to that point where the body starts burning fat for energy. Atkins says you have to take in ZERO carbs for two or three weeks before that change kicks in, and the Low-GI diet said the same thing. If you know about this stuff, lemme know....

And they also own Leinenkugel's, and you're supposed to put an orange in the Sunset Wheat.

But to be fair about Chill, you're not supposed to add lime to it...the lime and salt flavor is actually brewed into the beer.

Still never liked that fruit in beer commercial though. But some of the man-laws were good.

I love booze. I'm much better looking the more you drink. And also if you drink enough Jameson during 9 of last seasons Broncos games they went undefeated as far as I remember. 7-0 Baby

Atkins is wrong here look for the book "Natural Hormonal Enhancement" I got it from a friend but was able to find it on amazon it goes into detail about how you can change the fuel sources for your body. It reads like a biology book but the info is all sourced from medical journals and published studies. Esentially you go about 7 days with less than 20 carbs and then from there on you cycle your carbs every 3 to 4 days. He also goes into why Atkins is unhealthy and how his diet killed him. anyhow check it out its worth a read.

gotta admit my stomach turned at the mere sight of that vodka bottle lodged up in there.

I don't drink but I'm curious how the physics of this would work considering watermelons are already pretty saturated. I would suspect a direct injection would be required to achieve the desired amount of alcohol dispersion throughout the melon.

We used to just get a big ass cooler and fill it with 7-up and everclear then just add differnet kinds of fruit all cut up into the cooler. Let that sucker sit for a day and its much yummy.

Well the long story on Miller starts with Coors. Coors merged with Molson a few years back. Molson was then bought by Miller. Who had been purchased by South African Breweries to form SAB Miller. They will soon operate on a joint project known as MillerCoors in the US. SAB Miller is also the largest bottler of Coke in the world.

SAB Miller's ownership is only 7% US interests. Anheuser-Busch is in the process of being bought by foreign owned InBev. So if that matters to you buy Fat Tire. Blue Moon is made by Sandlot brewing which is owned by Coors and based in Coors Field.

That is pretty funny.

I wouldn't say they made up the rule. They made up the figure of speech, which is funny, but it's pretty much of a spin off of the rule that a guy shouldn't order a fruity drink. Or a drink that puts the bartender to work (blended and a lot of mixed drinks, which are usually fruity).

As for the alcohol soaked fruit, sounds like a great idea for a house party. Chicks seem to dig that type of stuff.

All drinks take about the same time to make. Drink what makes you happy a good bartender might make a joke or two but shouldn't care if he pours you a Guinness and a shot of Jameson, or makes you a bay breeze and a Washington Apple. I personally enjoy making drinks out of rail liquor as that is the highest profit margin.

I worked as a bartender. A lot of mixed and blended drinks take a lot longer to make than the simple drinks that most guys order. Jack on the rocks, rum and coke, a beer, are made very fast. That's what most guys order. Women order the mixed drinks, which take a little extra time to make. As a bartender, it's not a problem taking that extra time making a drink for a woman. But for a guy, ask any bartender, and they'll tell you that it's kind of gay for a guy to order a drink that puts the bartender to work. And it's kind of gay holding a fruity drink in those funny glasses... unless you are on a beach on a tropical island. There is an exception to every rule.

I do work in an Irish bar so I don't do any of that blending crap. I'll gladly make any guy any colored or flavored drink so long as his money is green or his card authorizes. For the most part I can throw what ever is needed in a glass and shake it quick enough that I don't care. I may have a smart ass joke or one liner when I give it to you but thats why I enjoy my job. What annoys the piss out of me is asking what's on draft (there are 23 of em), waiving me down to say uh, um, uh, verbal tips (because they are not usually accompanied by money tips). Things I enjoy, paying cash, cute girls giving me their phone number, good tippers, or in the absence of good tipping if you can make me laugh when I'm in the weeds I'll buy you a drink.

I used to be a server and a bartender. Right now I work for the Miller/Coors/Heineken/Crown/CCM distributor here in Tucson (Finley Distributing). I'm excited that Heineken recently bought Scottish Newcastle because hopefully soon we'll get the distribution rights and I'll be "allowed" to drink Newcastle.

Fat Tire is distributed by Republic National Dist. Co., so I don't usually drink that. Blue Moon (by Coors like you said) is one of my favorites. I don't mind drinking beers from other distributors, except for the Anheuser-Busch distributor.

Anheuser-Busch can suck it.

It will saturate, it just takes a long time. In total, I put two holes into the watermelon. One to shove the bottle in, the other (which intersected with the first) to make sure that vodka kept coming out of the bottle and didn't become a vacuum (not sure if that is the correct term.)

All in all, the melon was pretty good, but not super duper. Pretty sticky and smelled like vodka.

It was potent though.

Next time just cut it up into chunks , throw it in a bowl and throw the vodka in...or everclear! (add other fruit if desired)

Good advice, but I just really wanted to chop it up infused. It was a good chop. You're only 22 (25) once.
