Gratz Griff :yayaya: Living here i was so happy when he came to the Reds only wish he could have stayed healthy ... Still one of the greatest of all time ...

by far one of the best. You never heard anyone bring up the name Ken Griffey Jr and steroids in the same sentence. If he was healthy, he would have passed possibly all of the greats on that list (Mays, Ruth, Aaron). Like to see him get at least 60 more to get to Mays.

Injuries really stripped this guy of an incredible career (its already great, but still). He was the best hitter in the game for a bit and lets not forget he had that amazing catch to rob Lou Collins of a game winning home run that both would have put the Twins in the playoffs in the early 90's and ended young Billy Heywood's promising career as a manager.

If he would have played LF (like Bonds) instead of CF, he'd have 800 right now, no doubt about it.

How so ??? cause his body wouldn't have taken such a beating chasing balls ?? i really asking not being facetious... I know a few of his injuries came running the bases , but i know alot was fielding does LF not get as much action in the pros or something ???

Rep. No chemicals, just a pure swing and a good eye. Good stride and glove in the outfield. Dude should be what MLB is about, instead Canseco, Bonds, Caminiti, these guys still have MVP's. Bogus MVP's. Too bad the NBA is going the same way. Not steroids, but the traveling and carrying the ball is a parody of pro hoops. The NBA is pretty much a joke these days. Just an exhibition match, but somebody has to win.

Juniors postition wouldn't have mattered when it came to his injuries, the guy played at 110 MPH and his body couldn't take it. One of my favorite players of all time (it helped that he became a Red). It kills me when I hear people talk debate whether he is HOF worthy or not. He was considered the Michael Jordan of baseball for a while. One of the sweetest swings in the game, and one hell of a Center fielder.
Congrats Ken

The irony is steroids would probably have helped him for a different reason...injuries. I'm a Reds fan and was stoked to see him go there...then the injuries began :( Amazing he was able to reach that number with all his injuries.

i don't watch baseball like i once did . use to watch 70% of the reds games ... in the later 80 thru 90's ... But this Bruce Kid might spark me to start watching the Reds a little more ... i hope Griff finishs his run as a Red and don't go back to the Mariners as rumored

Staying healthy wasn't even his problem. It was his work ethic. When he was here in seattle he was a prima-donna that believed he could rely on talent alone, no streaching, no practice, no workouts to stay in shape.
He could have been the best ever, but he pissed it away.
I have his Upper deck rookie card... he was a twig. He was friends with Bonds and that is enough for me. ROID HEAD!

Go to ESPN.com and take a look at Griffey's guns in the picture of him hitting #600. The guy is alot bigger than you think.

Fixed your post TDmvp, you forgot the asterisk.
Congrats to Griffey, always a class act and all talent too.
I think A-Rod will beat Bonds* later in his career.

Griffey's been jacking home runs consistently his whole career, when healthy.

Who questions his HOF status? I have never heard one on that. I have heard people debate that he is no longer the greatest in the game (around 2002). First time he is qualified, he goes in. Of course we have morons not voting for Tony Gwynn or Nolan Ryan, but to question it is to show the inability of ones self of a clear thought. This person would have the mindset of someone like Garcia Bronco (where in the hell is he been?) and his love for Barry Bonds.

Dude was 19 years old. Hell, I ballooned a good 60 pounds w/o trying from 19 to my 30s. God, I hope you are just messing with us.

Griffey is one of those guys who you can make a fair assumption never did any roids. The dude had a sweet, pure swing.
I loved his play on the field, but hated his off the field stuff, like how he relied on his talent mainly. I remember watching Mariners-Rockies games and the rest of the team is stretching and there he is standing and laughing.

Best player in a generation abused by steroids. It'd be no question if we didn't have the doopers and if he hadn't been hurt for five years, well, it might not even matter that the others cheated...

Griffey Jr. is an ALL TIME GREAT. I got to see him play when they just called him "Kid". The guy had everything. That Seattle team had at one point, Jr, A-Rod, and Randy Johnson, WOW. 2 of the best HR hitters of our generation, and maybe the best pitcher. To bad Baseball is completely messed up, and only the "Rich" teams can afford to keep that kind of talent together.

Believe it was around the time he hit #500, one of those around the horn shows or some ****. I doubt it's up for debate as much now that he is in an even more exclusive club.

I hope so as well. Griffey has never been mentioned with those who have been accused of steroid use. Looking at his build. I don't see how you could even make the case he did steroids.
