Server Hijinx... Sorry the lights were out so long...

Welcome back!

First of all, I want to apologize for the server being out for so long. There was a lot of back and forth going on between myself and the Ipower support team, and finally... FINALLY we got the issue corrected -- at least on this server -- at least for now.

I am considering switching over to the Mosso servers, but after doing some examination of them, I am having second thoughts. One way or another, I intend to have this site on a new server before the season starts - but for now, since I got the old forum up and working, I figured that was a good place to start.

For those that want to know what happened - a few weeks ago, Ipower had an intermittant network outage that caused the site to bog down immensely and then crash. The way it crashed however caused some of our most densely populated database tables to become corrupted - which I wouldn't have imagined would be as big a problem as it turned out to be. When the server would come up, I would try to repair the tables - except that with so many people trying to hit the site at the same time to check if we were back up, it would cause the server to crash. When it crashed, the only thing I could do is call customer support and request a reboot - sometimes it would take them 24 hours to reboot, sometimes 48 hours... I have not been happy with the level of support that I've received from our host.

I eventually figured that I'd have to re-route the domain in order to get the tables repaired... But that didn't work either. The database would time out using the web based tool... and when I used a database manager (navicat), the suspect tables would *still* crash the database... meaning another 24-48 hour wait.

When I tried to do this via SSH, I found out that for some reason they didn't have my root permissions set correctly, and thus I didn't have access... That was until this morning when they finally got that fixed. And now, here we are...

In any case, the site is back and running. *crossing fingers*

Oh, by the way...

I should note that as the domain propagates back here, you may intermittently get the other server that I was originally planning a transfer to (which still may happen). That should correct itself in due time.

I did say that, but circumstances have shifted. We're still on the old server right now, and I don't have a lot of confidence in it at the moment. I'm currently paying for two servers, but the new one I have reservations about. I may make the switch anyway, and see how we fare over there. But since I was able to get this up this morning, I figured we could open the site back up and work in real time with regards to any server switch. If I would have waited, it would have been another week.

That sounds like a browser cache setting to me. You should have been able to access the site well before yesterday, especially posting from the US.
