There is nothing the President or Congress can do about fuel prices. They have little to no control over the supply or demand. The only thing they or the states could do is get rid of the tax on gas.

So you don't think that a person's judgment should be taken into account for the highest office in the land? How 'modern day American' of you. Hell, get David Duke on the ticket and just try to ignore his separatist past. Obama has demonstrated utterly poor judgment in a) hanging at this church of division for 20 years; b) carrying the divisive message with him for 20 years until he finally understands that people don't vote for black separatists; c) continuing to rationalize and justify his divisive statements ultimately ending in the crap he pulled yesterday--pulling the rip cord and sacrificing a long time friend and confidante for the sake of politics. This is poor judgement, plain and simple.

Dude's character is showing and it ain't worthy of the highest office in the land. Bush haters, please save your breath--that guy ain't worthy either. If you don't think character is an issue, then ask yourself why you lock up criminals, rip politicians for lying, and insist on being treated fairly and not ripped off at the local watering hole. Obama's a waste of space.

If a guy was known to be a compulsive liar, why would you even ask about is policy on education? By the way, it's not the media, it's Obama who continues to rant about oppression, fairness, and gun toting, God fearin' lemmings who are too dumb to realize that they're useless.

you guys are WAY off base--it has EVERYTHING to do with "the issues"--the issue being---why would Barack associate himself with such a raving racist , lunatic? This was not just a family friend, but a person who baptized his 2 children, the head pastor at a church that he attended. It was shocking to most of us when it came out that Barack was a member of a church that describes itself as "unapologetically black"--this is no different than if John McCain was a member of Amren.com and was a supporter, or close friend of Jared Taylor-----and if you think that the media would NOT focus on McCain's relationship with Taylor and NOT the issues then you would be dead wrong. Quite honestly I want to know if ANY of our presidential candidates had been members of groups that stand for hate and division rather than 'normal' churches or other civic groups that are not so blatantly divisive. that being said--It was about time that Obama spoke out in defiance of that race bating maggot who uder the guise of the cloth, has parlayed his hateful speech into a 10 room , multimillion dollar mansion in the Illinois burbs........

removing that tax would do too much harm for govt revenue that goes for road repairs etc. IMO it won't be happening. I understand people are strapped right now but I agree with you Congress will never go along with a removal of the fed tax on gas.

right so let's say they remove like 50 cents a gallon from the price of gas buy eliminating a tax. A person using 50 gallons a week would save 25 bucks. Not really enough to make a huge huge difference. The govt however loses a ton of revenue from that. I don't feel the advantage is there for the people on that one. Better to use that tax money to build high speed trains to solve the problem.

Better idea is to just make Americans buckle down, carpool, etc etc. In the end that will be good for the country. Also it wouldn't hurt to do what Bush just mentioned in a speech and set a goal to pump more oil. Say to world America because oil is in such high demand is going to pump 5 million barralls a day more.

They're not going to "wake up" because the huge increases in oil prices on Bush's watch aren't an accident. Everything is going according to plan: America's wealth is being vacuumed out of the middle class and transferred into the coffers of ExxonMobil, Lockheed Martin, et al. The goal is to consolidate all of the nation's wealth and power in the hands of the top 1% and to reduce the rest of us to serfs.

Bush (the MBA president) doesn't represent you or your interests - he represents the interests of the oil and defense industries, and his priority is the same as that of any other CEO: to maximize profits for the aforementioned industries and their shareholders.

and the black nationalist grievance monger gets thrown under the bus. it makes me sad, really it does. here's james cone, the founder of black liberation theology:

"Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."

Where have you been these last 10-20 years? Asleep?

Did you the hear the talk by Rev Wright?

I did -- There was nothing racist in it. He spoke the simple and unadulterated truth. Wright was spot on when he described the US attack on Iraq as terrorism. If it wasn't terrorism -- then what was it?

Apparently you are just another hypocritical American who thinks violence is perfectly OK -- so long as it's us who is dong it.

When someone else does it -- then it's terrorism.

So sad that we live in a country where you can't apeak the truth. So saad that Obama must deny the truth due to this real-politic.

Is that the best you can come up with, implying that our government doing something about gas prices is "socialism". Explain how it is dangerous for our government to step in & do something about gas prices?

:yep:

Ironic isn't it?

Mention measures like windfall profits taxes, eliminating government subsidies, closing tax loopholes, and policing corruption in reference to Big Oil, and neocon Kool-Aid chuggers like Yvonne start bleating "socialism" (when the policy they support is the most blatant example of corporate socialism imaginable.)

Yvonne and his ilk are paradigm examples of the effects of corporate media brainwashing.
