They have oil. And their president said recently that he didn't think the price had gone high enough yet.

Ding ding ding! :yep:

Not only do they have oil, but, like Iraq, Iran (1) was one of the OPEC countries that declined to enter into the agreement whereby it would take a percentage of its petrodollars and invest them in U.S. securities, and (2) has been moving toward selling its oil in Euros.

The Smirking Sociopath knows that conflict with Iran = higher oil prices.

Bush works for the oil companies and their shareholders.

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out the rest.

Oil prices up on word US ship fired on boats in Persian Gulf

By JOHN WILEN, AP Business Writer Fri Apr 25, 4:26 PM ET

<!-- end storyhdr --> NEW YORK - Oil prices rose sharply Friday on news that a ship under contract to the U.S. Defense Department fired warning shots at two boats in the Persian Gulf. Retail gas prices as expected rose further into record territory, nearing $3.60 a gallon.

A Navy spokeswoman said the origin of the boats was unclear.

The news was enough to send light, sweet crude for June delivery up to $119.55 before the contract retreated to settle up $2.46 at $118.52 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The incident worried investors because at first it appeared to be the latest in a series of encounters between U.S. forces and Iranian boats in the Gulf. Early this month, the USS Typhoon fired a flare at an Iranian boat that came within about 200 yards of the ship. In January, several Iranian boats made what the Navy described as provocative moves near a U.S. ship in the Strait of Hormuz. And in December the USS Whidbey Island fired warning shots at a small Iranian boat officials said was rapidly approaching the ship.

Well for one they sponsor terrorism. Two they openly called for Israel to be wiped off the earth. They are trying to build nuclear weapons. Besides that though I agree we should be cozy friends with them.

So Iran openly wants to attack Israel and we are an ally of Israel. But Israel just got busted being passed National Security documents from a US citizen. So our own ally is spying on us. Why should we care anymore?

Well, I'm neither an Iranian proponent nor apologist, but if your country has US troops on both your east and west borders, you're gonna be in attack mode on the US and their allies. I really don't know what the outcome of the situation will be in the area from the Phillipines then westward to Greece. There's gonna be war that's for sure. There's gonna be airstrikes galore to prevent acquisition of nuclear technology. Who's gonna foot the bill, I don't know. I figure airstrikes are a good way to keep on top of the situation, seems to have worked well so far. I figure staying staunch allies with the Israelis is a good move. The object is to keep a lid on the boiling pot for how many years it takes to keep the pot from boiling over. Time heals all wounds, the object is to keep the pot from boiling over before time heals the wounds. Iranians are ok people to deal with but right now circumstances dictate they're the main guys to combat the US. The Persians are in war mode right now, how to relax the situation I don't know, but the situation has to be relaxed.

Enough cliches for you guys? I don't know what the f is going on right now. I don't have any control whatsoever on world events right now, and neither do you. This right now I think is just another epoch in human history where events are too far ahead of human ability to control them. There's a possibility that events won't get too far ahead of control, but that depends on the Five Permanent Members of the UN Security Council. Those five have the power to impose order, but they have their own agendas to accomplish. Geopolitics is the greatest game on earth, and all of those five want to be the winner at the big table or at least not be the loser. Too much competition, not enough cooperation. Well, humans are monkeys at basic, so it's not surprising.

If Pelon is right...

it's time to kiss your ass good bye.

Because the criminals who are runnning America want as much of the world's oil as they can steal and they want it NOW. They know time is running out...

Sooner or later -- and probably sooner -- it will end in the crash of our world civilization -- probably via nuclear war. Presently we are just minutes away -- and the clock is ticking.

Where is the awareness?

Answer: Not on this board
(with a couple of notable exceptions).

Fortunately, Pelon is not necessarily right.

There is still a chance the American people will WAKE UP and retake control of their (our) country.

Thomas Jefferson would understand our plight. His recipe for what ails us?

Simple: REVOLUTION.

It starts with turning OFF the TV. And turning ON the billions of braincells between your own ears.

In that myserious space -- anything can happen.

So I watch TV for 3 things, Sports, Discover Channel, and DIY Network. Sports is my vice, Discovery Channel educates me and gets me thinking. And the Do it Yourself Network has taught me how to remodel my whole basement.

So there are positives to television but the choices are few and few. This country needs a serious kick in the ass. We are being out smarted, out worked, out healthed, and we are supposedly the Supreme Power.

They are trying to build nuclear weapons.

That's a lie.

All sixteen U.S. intelligence agencies concluded that Iran halted such efforts four years ago.

We shouldn't.

We have no business trying to be the world's policeman, and our meddling in the affairs of both sides has, historically, almost invariably come back to bite us in the ass (as has our inability to act as a fair broker in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.)

Cue W*GS with the usual idiotic "anti-Semitism" charges.

BTW, we all know you have a problem with me mentioning Bush's name on a political discussion forum - you don't have to prove that anymore.

Because they can kick the crap out of anyone. They like us, and we like them. Sometimes it comes down to that. Same with the Japanese. They can kick the crap out of anyone. They like us, and we like them. Same with the Koreans, they can kick the crap out of anyone. They like us, and we like them. Same with the Australians and the English. They can kick the crap out of anyone. They like us and we like them.

Hell, I don't know what's going on anymore. It's pretty crazy. There's a lot of Persians that love the USA, but we're at total odds with the Persians right now. The Persians are an ancient culture and deserve respect, but Bush turns his nose up at them. What the heck is the problem with talking a little bit? It's ridiculous to not talk at all with a bigtime player like the Persians. It's childish.

On the other hand, anyone who bashes Bush is immediately and without reservation LABF's bestest buddy, no matter how odious and ****like. LABF just hates it when I trot out his slobbering, kneeling and bobbing adoration of good 'ol Hugo Chavez, but when it comes to an utter lack of principle and godawful reeking mountains of hypocrisy, LABF is king of the ****pile.
