View Full Version : Who is the biggest WTF? pick we could make at #12?

Barring a trade, who is the most likely head scratcher you can think of at #12 in this draft? Last year I hated the move up for Moss. Is another WTF? pick in the cards this time around?
My prime candidate is Keith Ellis, who I think fits Shanny's idea of what he wants in a linebacker, a guy with speed. The dude reminds me of Ian Gold...blah...I hated the move for DJ to strongside and MLB but who's to say Shanny wouldn't do it again for another undersized guy on the outside with speed? My second choice would be WR Limas Sweed of Texas. Shanny likes Texas guys and he's shown he'll take a receiver in the 1st round. With Rod and Javon gone and Marshall having issues...you get the point...and I'd hate that pick too.
So who is it?

i think you mean Rivers here...
but i'm going to agree with you that Keith Rivers would be the biggest head scratcher to me...other than QB obviously...

Yeah, I hope the Broncs don't jump for Balmer at #12. If we can trade back into the 20's, I have no problem getting Balmer.
Taking Rivers or D Jackson at #12 would be a mistake as well.

Rivers seems like a WTF pick, but Shanny's heart-on for LB's shouldn't make it too surprising. Reaching on Balmer of Phillips for need would also be a WTF pick, IMO (lol, j/k, STFU Montrose). Jackson could be another, although with the constant problems in the return game I could see it. CB would also apply, however with Foxy and Paymah's pending FA along with Bly's contract and a deep year for CB's - that is somewhat explainable as well.
So what would be a pick at #12 that would just absolutely blow everyone way and say WTF!? How about hometown boy Calais Campbell? He's be a major reach and at the DE position where we've already selected players the past few years yet it's so far out there I could see there being a crazy 1% chance Shanahan would do it.

Shanny is using genetic manipulation to create the ULTIMATE hybrid super LB/DT/SS! Keith "The Trojan-horse" Ellis!!!

I changed my mind. Keith Ellis at 12 would be good. We could use a good motivational speaker to help get the guys fired up. Looks like he helps with goal setting

He's half Keith Rivers, half Sedrick Ellis. It's like MANBEARPIG, but with two of USC's highly touted prospects.
The speed of Rivers, the run stopping ability of Ellis. . . but the brains of a co****cking moron. Did I mention I hate USC?

It could happen. Dude is being talked about going as high as #7. He's an SEC boy that the Broncos love and while the DE position is better than others, it's still not a strength, IMO. Remember when we took Middlebrooks in 2001 a year after taking O'Neal and when we still had D.Walker on the roster? This could be a similar scenario.

You guys are all bagging Rivers but I will bet anyone lunch that it will only take about 24 hours or less before all you boys go into homer mode and convince yourself it was a good pick if it were to happen.
It didn't even take that long for many of you to support the Mo Clarrett Jug Head pick and that was one of the dumbest picks in the history of the draft.

Balmers, Sweed, Jackson, and Rivers would all be WTF picks for me.
Thankfully, I think we have addressed the WR needs. If Sweed or Jackson were available in the 2nd, then by all means.
Balmers is a boom or bust type. I'd prefer something a little more sure at #12. Rivers is not a need at this point. I'm really hoping somebody takes him in the top 10 so we don't have to worry about it. He's a great player, but far from a need. I would actually gasp a sigh of relief if he was taken by the Saints. I don't want NE to end up with him either!

What if Denver thinks Balmer is the best DT in the draft? How far should they trade down? Would you be willing to gamble the best DT in the draft by trading down hoping noone will select him before it's your turn? If you trade down you really open yourself up with some team then trading ahead of you.
If the Broncos think any player they might be selecting is the best player in the draft then for godsake grab that player at #12.
