The flowing are players I would like to denver draft or positions that would be addressed durring that round.

1st
OT Ryan Clady, Boise State
Height: 6-6. Weight: 309.
Projected 40 Time: 5.20.
Combine 40 Time: Did not run.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.18.
Benchx225: 24.
Projected Round: Top 15 Pick.
Ryan Clady had a solid Pro Day - he improved his 40 time a bit and had a vertical of 31 inches. Not bad for a 310-pound tackle. He won't go any lower than No. 13, while his ceiling is No. 5.

Clady did not run or work out at the combine, excluding the bench. He may not eclipse Jake Long on prospect charts, but he has the possibility to go fifth overall to the Chiefs.

2nd (42)
KR / RB Chris Johnson, East Carolina
Height: 5-11. Weight: 197.
Projected 40 Time: 4.20.
Combine 40: 4.24.
Benchx225: . Vertical: 35. Broad .
Projected Round: 2.
Good to see Chris Johnson live up to his projected 4.20 time. He was the fastest player at the combine.

Johnson looked solid in Senior Bowl practice, though his blocking was a bit exposed.

No, that's not a misprint. Johnson has run a 4.20 in the 40. But can he play football? The 106 rushing yards and two touchdowns he accumulated against Memphis say he can. The 35 receptions he garnered in 2005 agree. At 200 pounds, if Johnson can either match or improve upon his 4.20, he'll be a second-round pick.

Moore played out of his mind against West Virginia. Steve Slaton simply couldn't run in Moore's direction, as the senior defensive tackle was in the Mountaineers' backfield the majority of the plays. He really improved his draft stock.

That 4.82 is not a misprint. Moore, who excels at stopping the run and getting to the quarterback, is a workout warrior. He'll bench 225 pounds at least 30 times. He has also notched a 34-inch vertical in the past. An expected, excellent combine may get Moore into the first round.

4th (108)
OG Chad Rinehart, Northern Iowa
Height: 6-5. Weight: 317.
Projected 40 Time: 5.08.
Combine 40 Time: 5.41.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.26.
Arm: 33 1/8. Benchx225: 26.
Projected Round: 4-5.
The best offensive lineman you haven't heard of in this draft class. Chad Rinehart, an incredible run-blocker, can play tackle and guard. Runs a nice 40.

4th (119)
DT Frank Okam, Texas
Height: 6-4. Weight: 347.
Projected 40 Time: 5.00.
Combine 40 Time: 5.32.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.27.
Benchx225: 32. Vertical 27.5.
Projected Round: 4-5.
Forget bulldozers; they should just have Frank Okam run a couple of 40s when they want to knock down the RCA Dome. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Okam ate a cheeseburger or two after the end of the regular season.

5th (139)
WR Ernie Wheelwright, Minnesota
Height: 6-4. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.66.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.50.
Vertical: 36. Broad .
Projected Round: 6.
Ernie Wheelwright's production in 2006 sucked. So did his projected 40 time. That has all changed. Wheelwright, who notched 66 receptions for 775 yards and nine touchdowns in 2007 despite having a mediocre quarterback, improved his workout numbers at his Pro Day. He posted a 4.50 40 and 36-inch vertical, both of which are great at his imposing size.

5th (148)
OT Brandon Keith, Northern Iowa
Height: 6-5. Weight: 349.
Projected 40 Time: 5.29.
Combine 40 Time: 5.23.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.98.
Benchx225: 31.
Projected Round: 5. I know 40 times for offensive linemen is meaningless, but a 4.98

6th (183)
DT Maurice Murray, New Mexico State
Height: 6-3. Weight: 310.
40 Time: 4.92.
Projected Round: 6.
Raw - transferred over from a junior college after the 2004 season.

7th (220)
C Fernando Velasco, Georgia
Height: 6-4. Weight: 328.
40 Time: 5.06.
Projected Round: 6.
Huge for a center, but definitely not slow. Raw - Fernando Velasco played guard last year.

7th (227)
DT Jason Shirley, Fresno State
Height: 6-5. Weight: 330.
40 Time: 4.98.
Projected Round: 7.
A monstrous nose tackle who runs a sub-five 40? Are we recording this? Is this thing on?

Looks a little too biased towards measurables for my liking. I think there are better football players at pretty much every pick. If you look at the teams that have tghe greatest success in the draft, the thing they have in common is that they pick football players over workout warriors with incredible measurables.

Except for that all-world TE of a couple of years ago.......Davis?

Eric johnson is the only player I reall disagree with. way to small for us. 197 lbs? Frank Okam won't fall all the way to the 4th.

You must be a N. Iowa alum :) I'll be shocked if Wheelwright is even drafted, the way he quit on his team this year.

The first two picks i could live with although Johnson's blocking ability is a major concern as we need a back who CAN actually block. Even with that i think besides Okam there are better DT's that Denver could get later in the draft. You also didnt address FB or S which are two areas of need as well especially for depth.

Oh and JCM, I love you.

He takes a ton of plays off, has never played up to his potential, and teams question his commitment to football (already has talked about going to law school apparently). How is that exactly a lock for the top 3 rounds?

Marcus Thomas, Rodrique Wright, etc.. Just being big and physically gifted doesn't guarantee you a top spot in the draft.

I've got to meet a couple of the Gopher football players and they all pretty much agreed Ernie was a lil' bitch. Not to mentioned, for all the good plays he does make -- he has two terrible ones. No progress.

The player I picked were more for position in a selected round, I would like to see who the Mane feel would be a good selection at that position in that round.

I really like Clady in the first due to the fact he has been playing a zone system in college and he would protect the3 franchise in cutler.

Sencond round, I liked Johnson speed and return ability but would prefer a RT or DT that has first round talent to drop to our spot in the sencond.

IT REALY SUCKS NOT HAVING A THIRD ROUND PICK!

Fourth round picks
OG Chad Rinehart, Northern Iowa
Have never seen him play but what I've read he could be a boom or bust player and when he plays has a nasty demeanor.

DT Frank Okam, Texas
another boom or bust player It seem Shanny like to take these type of players in the fourth.

But I what to address DT and OG for at least depth or hit it big on a player that has talent to make a diference but just has not gortit done in college.

5Th
OT Brandon Keith, Northern Iowa
This player has the skills to be a great takle but has not put it together take a chance on talent.

WR Ernie Wheelwright, Minnesota

This is a big WR who might of figured it out in 07 and learned how to work at his postion.

6th
DT Maurice Murray, New Mexico State

a raw talented player who with coaching could bloom. on the second day of the draft if you want to get starters you have to take some raw talents and hpe the coaches can coach and that the team leader can teach how to work to get there.

7th

C Fernando Velasco, Georgia
The bigest weakness of a 3-4 defence is the NT. that is why thy look for a player that requires double andtriple teams to controll. That is why I like a massive center with the same powerfull build as a NT. This woiuld allow him to take care of the NT with out help.

DT Jason Shirley, Fresno State
Just needs to be kept motivated and for a sevens round pick there is not a player that could possible make a bigger impact on the DL.

I wanted to address the trenches with this draft by using Shanny's recent draft philosopy of picking multiple players at a position to get a stater and depth out of the draft. This allows for some mistakes in the draft.

So feel free to make your own selections at each position to improve this draft.

Guess I will take a stab at this:

1. Jeff Otah or Brandon Albert RT- we need a RT, let Harris, Pears, and Kuper fight it out for left. either of these guys could play LT if needed.
2. Dan Connor MLB- future starting MLB
4a. Marcus Harrison DT- best DT available
4b. Mike Pollack C- perfect for our OL
5a. Orlando Scandrick CB- probably going to loose Foxworth and/or Paymah next year
5b. Owen Schmittt FB- we need a guy to help open up hole near the goal line
6. Durrant Brooks P- we need one
7a. Taylor Melhlhaff K- we need one
7b. Derek Lokey DT- good run stopper

UDFA Targets:
Husain Abdullah S- Hamzah's younger brother, we seem to give family members a shot
Marcus Henry WR- never seen him play, but I like his size, speed, and senior stats
