Was just listening to Sirius in the car when they reported both Brian Urlacher and Jeremy Shockey have requested trades. While I find it unlikely either would be dealt, do you guys think the Broncos should have any interest?

Everything that I've heard makes it sound like NY is definitely willing to deal Shockey, they just haven't been able to find value for him yet.

Hey Montrose, did you hear anything on sirius about Denver talking to Cincy about C. Johnson? I heard from someone else that they were saying Cincy had begun contacting other teams and Denver was showing the most interest. I found that pretty hard to believe given our current situation at wr.

Regarding your question, I guess it doesn't hurt to see what their asking for Urlacher but I don't think we would want to take on his salary and the compensation they would probably be seeking. I would not have any interest in Shockey.

No to Shockley for the same reason everyone says no to Ocho Cinco, plus dude can't stay healthy.

Urlacher, while a shell of what he used to be, is better than anything we have on our roster. Doubt we have the $$$ to sign him, though.

If either one of them can play D-tackle, by all means...

The sports section of the Chicago Sun-Times was filled with stories about Urlacher being unhappy. He missed workouts and wants a trade or is threatening to retire. Though, everyone highly doubts he'll retire. His current contract from '03 is 9 years, $56.65 million with a $13 mil signing bonus. Last year, he was a $5.9 million hit on the cap.

Actually the latest news I heard is that Urlacher contacted the Chicago Sun Times and cleared the air. He said he never threatened retirement or requested a trade. False reports this morning.

No kidding? I always thought Jay Marriotti was the only one doing that over there. Guess his virus spread.

You know Urlacher would f*****g love it here having graduated from University of New Mexico. People down there would go crazy plus that would solidify MLB

Not going to happen. Urlacher is to the Bears what Manning is to the Colts.

I think the Saints offered the Giants a deal and NY turned it down and last I heard they are trying to come up with another offer.

Shockey can be real good if he wants to be but I am definitley content with Scheffler at the helm. Him and Cutler have a good connection and should catch around 50-60 balls a year.

I'd take Urlacher in a heartbeat.

No, we weren't mentioned for any of these potential traded. They were simply stating that Urlacher and Shockey would like to be moved and was wondering if anyone here on the Mane thought we should show interest. As for Johnson, I doubt we're in the market for another WR after signing D-Jack.

Ask The Patriots OL if they missed tightend Graham during the SB.

Urlacher said in a statement that the only way he's not with the bears is if he were traded & that chicago is where he wants to be.

i wouldnt want either one unless we were seriously in contention to contend for a title. these guys are not doing too good physically and are one bad hit from ending their careers. Now chad johnson would be worth a 2nd rd pick and a 2nd or 3rd next year.

Yea, why would you possibly want the best MLB in the game, when you have Nickolas Konstantinavinos roaming your backfield? Give me a ****ing break.

Because Urlacher has one season (at most) left before he is Al Wilson.

The bears would be wise to get as much value as hey can for him right now. Next year, he'll be worth nothing.

Urlacher's performance really struggled the one year the Bears didn't have a solid DL. Basically, his presence in the middle wasn't as great. Once they solidified the DL to keep the opponents' OL from getting to him, he started making plays again - until last year.

That said, healthy or not, he will not have the presence for the Broncos that he had for the Bears until we get a DL that the other team needs to block. Although, he will still be better than what we have now.

BTW, it was also reported that Lance Briggs, Robbie Gould, and Devin Hester are upset with their contracts from the Bears' too.

WTF is going on with Urlacher, Briggs, last year they kicked Ron Rivera out the door. Sounds like an asylum.

Don't forget they also low balled Lovie Smith when it came to his contract too. I believe he is the lowest paid HC in the league. It sounds like the owners aren't interested in paying.

The Bears are known for not shelling out the big bucks for their players/staff members.

If we spend any assets on a TE who looks to be higher than #3 on the depth chart this year, I'll through a brick through my window.

It's been that way for years. I just hope this year's free agency "thrift" isn't the start of a similar trend with the Broncos.

The fans have beed disgusted with ownership ever since "Papa Bear" George Hallas died. They're known for being frugal and even worse, horrible at evaluating personnel. They've had numerous first round busts at running back like Rashaad "Salami" Salaam, Curtis "Penis" Enis, and now Cedric "The Entertainer" Benson. All the nicknames are in spite, of course. They got rid of their best RB, Thomas Jones, because Benson was a first round pick and hoped that he would work out. Hell, fans are still mad Mike Ditka handed the ball off the WIlliam Perry in Super Bowl XX and didn't let Walter Payton score a TD in a Super Bowl.
