This one is a possibility. Since Carolina is now a no go, Atlanta MAY be an option...as is a Denver home game.

Guys....is the area relatively safe by the Georgia Dome?

Depends if Ray Lewis and his posse are in town ROFL!

Actually, my brother in law is an Atlanta police officer, I can find out for ya...not sure if I am going to make this one or not I was going to do this and Cleveland but they fall on back to back weekends and not sure if i can take work off two weeks in a row...Cleveland is closer for me so I think I am doing that one...anyway, I will let you know about the area...

Guys....is the area relatively safe by the Georgia Dome?

From my brother in law...hope this helps

As a rule anything west of Northside Drive is not safe. The closest hotels will all be downtown Atlanta. They are too numerous to list. Downtown and Midtown are not the same, so if the hotel advertises itself as Midtown it will be further away from the stadium. Remember that you can stay anywhere near the Marta Train system and just ride the train right to the dome if you want. The Trains are safe, I would avoid the buses.

One of the guys on my unit is a season ticket holder and they tailgate. I
will find out from him how that works. I know it is ridiculously expensive
to park near the dome so bear that in mind.

yeah avoid the west side all together........stay near the airport nice places to eat.....safe area. THe sherraton near the airport is fairly nice for the price.

How far is the aquirum and things to do there? Wifey likes to go sight seeing and I hear ATL has plenty to do? Looked on stub hub got some good deals in the endzone right now. I think this is a deff. for wifey and I. How is with us. I would love to see a bunch of us there.

I guess he could have another commitment that takes precedence over the Broncos. thwack

I really like you Hogan, but seriously! That's like asking a cop if they want another donut. :twokisses

:ouwknow: Just making sure....ATL is not the greatest of destinations afterall and if the G Dome is already a notch in his belt, I can easily understand bypassing going to such a place again.

but yeah, I'll admit it was a pretty stupid question....we were pretty messed up by that schedule and not thinking too clearly at the time, my apologies. :approve:

No worries... just giving you a hard time. I don't think it matters if he's been there or not.

Miles is trying to get me to this game since we only play in Atlanta every eight years. I simply replied, it's a dome! We'll see, but I'd much rather try and make Carolina than Atlanta. It would be nice to see Elam one last time, hopefully on the sidelines.

The schedule screwed us big time. NE, Carolina, and Cleveland were our top three for this year, but NE and Cleveland are probably no goes since they're not on Sunday. Carolina could be a stretch. We'll see. This is now the first year where I have no idea which games we'll make.

TAILGATING
It's "pretty difficult to tailgate at a stadium without a large parking lot close by." "Most folks tailgate in vacant lots up to a quarter mile from the stadium," so "if you want to pull out a few chairs, drinks and eat out of a picnic basket, that's pretty easy. If you want to grill and really spread out, that's not easy at all." "An abandoned rail station across from the stadium known as 'the Gulch' is the place to be. "But many find the location" under a highway overpass "not very inviting." The alternatives are "spread out over many parking lots," "are small and hard to get to." That doesn't stop some motivated souls from "deep-frying a turkey" or serving up "soul food mixed with ribs and barbecue."

NEIGHBORHOOD
The stadium is at "the far south end of downtown" "just outside of the Atlanta business district." "It isn't exactly the high-rent area. If one stays with the crowd, however, safety should not be a concern." "It looks pretty rough and is generally a low-income neighborhood." However, the area is in the middle of a "slow" "gentrification effort," "with new condos and restaurants." "Down the road" are "lots of attractions other than football -- CNN Center, Phillips Arena, the aquarium, Centennial Olympic Park, World of Coca-Cola, etc."

We have 6 of us going to this game. I found a bunch of upper corner tickets on stubhub for $28. Anyone else interested in getting any of these tickets so we can have a group of us Broncos fans all together? Also does anyone have any plans for tailgating because we would love to be a part of it. Thanks!!

Other than ticket prices, I see no reason why me and my son won't be at this game. I live a tad over an hour from Atlanta and this will be my first Bronco game.

I want some good seats behind the good guys, anyone know of some good places to get tickets better than the 400 bucks a piece I've found?

Hey guys.

I have 4 tickets (Sec 106, Row 13, 1-4) to this game if anyone is interested. Would really like to swap for tickets to a game in the Northeast (NE Jets Buffalo). But will do what is needed so they are not wasted.

Was going to fly to this one but buddy is backing out for money reasons.

well from what I have been told is the Blue lot is way better than the orange one......its bigger and much easier to get in/out of. However they also have a state farm lot (if you have state farm insurance you get to park for 10 bucks) So its possible i might just park there.

I am staying in the Holiday inn select (capitol) by turner field. where is everyone else staying????

if anyone wants to PM me I can give you my phone number and you can call me and figure out where the tailgate will be. Most of you already have the number, but there are some people I haven't met yet that dont.

I am going to try to get into the Blue lot......Ill have a grill, a few chairs, a cooler, ect......

It would a big help if someone else bought a cooler too.......

Also I have no problem providing hotdogs/burgers and the fixins for the game........If i know how many people roughly will be there.

We USUALLY keep it BYOB and since I haven't heard otherwise I am assuming its the same here.

As of now I am working till 8pm friday......when i get off owrk driving to Lexington KY.....that should get me there around 1 am....sleeping in as long as the hotel will let me.......then driving the rest of the way to ATL. So hopefully if everything goes according to plan I should be in ATL by 5pm sat. I am going to try to get to the blue lot early to get a space......but if anyone else is driving to this game it would be cool if we drove to the lot together so that we can have a few spaces next to eachother.

I'm driving up on Saturday. I have 2 options to stay...One friend lives close to the stadium (But he's not going to the game) and my best friend, that is going to the game with me, lives an hour farther north (In the 'burbs), but nice area, just not a lot going on. Either way, we'll be ready to tailgate around 9.
