Exactly, we couldn't sign him.
HAVING SAID THAT, I'm going out on a limb here, and saying that we should pick him up. We'd give him NO guaranteed money, so put him on a razor thin leash, and if he winds up getting charged or gets in trouble again, or kicks up some **** at training camp, then we cut him. No harm, no foul. I mean, PFT would get to make some more fun of us, but who cares?

He would get in trouble on his flight here. He couldn't make to the start of training camp before he f--kup. Granted he is talented but we do not need another prima dona wide reciever. The guy has been arrested 5 times since Dec. 2006... No thanks I don't want him.

Well, if we did sign him he wouldnt be playing this year cause Goodell is going to suspend him for a good chunk of games if not the entire year. He would be a waste of space at this point.

Then we cut him. Look, I'm not saying that I think he'll turn it around. I'm not saying that I think Henry won't be suspended and/or banned.
What I am saying is that there IS a pathetically small chance that this prosecutor pusses out, Goodell leaves him be, and he learns from it. Like, 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000. However, while that chance is still there, there is absolutely NO risk associated with claiming him.
The only way it would turn out bad is if Shanahan gave him more than one chance. That would suck. If he didn't though, no downside. None. People would make fun of us, it'd become a joke, but in terms of things that actually matter, there would be no damage.

Chris Henry, recently released by the Cincinnati Bengals, has reached an agreement with the Denver Broncos on a three-year contract worth $3.2 million, plus a $2.5 million signing bonus, SI.com has confirmed.
Henry, 24, will get a chance to compete with Brandon Stokley for the Broncos' No. 2 starting receiver job opposite Brandon Marshall. He was suspended without pay by Commissioner Roger Goodell for the first half of last season for violating the league's personal conduct policy. At that point, Henry had been arrested four times in 14 months. The latest incident involving Henry may subject him to further discipline by the league under the conduct policy. The policy, toughened by Goodell last year, empowers Goodell to banish a repeat criminal offender from the league. Goodell warned Henry in a letter when he suspended him last April 10 that Henry was down to his "last opportunity to salvage your NFL career."
Henry reportedly surrendered to authorities Wednesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal damaging. Henry was alleged to have hit an 18-year-old man in the face and to have broken the man's car window with a beer bottle in an incident Monday in Cincinnati.Henry was forced to miss eight games due to misconduct in 2007. He returned in Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens, where he had four receptions for 99 yards. In the following loss to Arizona, Henry totaled 8 receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown. Henry finished up the season with 21 receptions for 343 yards and two touchdowns.
Despite the problems, Broncos coach Mike Shanahan deemed bringing Henry in as a risk worth taking. And with the uncertainty surrounding Brandon Marshall who injured himself while vacationing with his family. After initially downplaying the injury that required surgery, WR Brandon Marshall has acknowledged it was the result of horseplay with family members and a misplaced fast-food bag. He said he slipped on the bag while wrestling with family members at a Florida resort and put his right arm through a home entertainment center.
When asked about the signing Shanahan had this to say "“Any time you lose a guy and two guys in the same position such as Javon and Brandon there is an impact. You are depleted in depth at that position, and one guy that we think can help us is Chris.” Asked about Henry's legal issues he had this to say “You have to be a little worried about it. He will get a chance to adapt and get a fresh start this week so we will see how it goes". Even QB Jay Cutler was asked what will be the difference between a player like Walker as opposed to Henry in which he replied "Javon's a great receiver, but Javon he likes the spotlight and he likes the ball coming to him a lot, but Chris isnt like that, but he has had some off the field issues that he needs to resolve and i think he can do it."

I'm not going to lie, I didn't pay attention to football back then, but my understanding is that Carter signed a 4-Year, 22.8 Million dollar contract with us. That's a far cry from putting out a waiver claim on Henry's contract, which I'm sure is pretty freaking reasonable, and none of it is guaranteed. HUGE difference.
Unless you're talking about Shanahan, in which case, no, I didn't.

I wasn't talking about the financial implications.
But you were. I can only assume that Shanahan and Co. put up with Carter's shenanigans(If they can so be called....Evil Shenanigans...) because of the fact that Carter's release would lead to cap hell, and losing a boatload of guaranteed money. Shanahan believed in Carter to the point where he signed him to a large contract. Henry's case is(would) be completely different. No guaranteed money. No long-term effects. Not only that, but we could basically say to Henry "Alright. We only put in a waiver claim because we had nothing to lose. One slip and you're gone.". It's kind of hard to say that to a guy that you just gave a monster contract to, isn't it? Cutting Carter would've lost us something. Giving Dale Carter that kind of a contract was essentially the same as giving him a long leash. Putting in a waiver claim is a far cry from that, I should think. I don't think the two are even remotely similar.
BEAR IN MIND, PEOPLE, THAT MY SUGGESTION CAME WITH A STIPULATION THAT HE WOULD BE GIVEN NO 2ND CHANCES. ZERO.

But you were.
No, I wasn't.
Dale Carter had an extremely negative effect on the lockerroom and many people (myself included) believe he had alot to do with Darrius Johnson's legal troubles.
NEVER underestimate the kind of impact these clowns can have.

That's my point though. You pull the captains in, you say "Hey, if Chris is causing too much trouble, let us know.", and if he is, you cut him. You couldn't do the same thing with Dale.
