Do we have 8 or 9 draft picks? I can only find 8 right now.

They are #'s 12, 42, 104, 115, 130, 140, 174, and 202. Is this right?

The Chris Myers trade made it nine.

Possibly a 7th round pick at #209, which is Tampa Bay's for the Jake Plummer trade, and this applies only if Jake shows up prior to the NFL Draft. If Jake still implies he is retired, this pick may disappear.

I think we get the 7th anyway.
If he DOES show up, we get a 4th instead.

this is correct.

4th if he shows up before the draft (highly unlikely, though i heard Gruden and Allen were closer than ever a while back to getting him to come out of Idaho) and 7th if he doesnt.

I hadn't realized until now that San Diego doesn't have a 2nd, 3rd or 4th. They do have 2 5ths and 6th and 7th.

I promise you that Plummer is doing this to screw Denver. I bet you as soon as the draft ends Plummer will come out of retirement and suddenly want to play football again.

That would be quite the grudge there. Throwing away millions of dollars and 2 opportunities to compete and win a championship. All over a 4th round pick? I just can't buy that. No, I think the reality is Jake just doesn't want to play in the NFL anymore and values his long-term health going forward.

AFAIK The Bucs haven't petitioned the NFL to pursue the outstanding signing bonus proration that passed over to their accounting dept when we dealt Jake. So they must think there's still a slim chance they can convince him to return.

There must be a cut-off point on his return date though because before the draft could mean the night before and I'm sure both teams will have targetted players for the selections they own.

BTW according to the Huddle Report we've now been given that 227 pick from the Bucs.

If I recall we should have:
One first (ours)
One second (ours)
Zero third (traded to Minny)
Two forths (ours and Washington's from the Lelie trade)
Two fifths (ours and one from Oakland in the Warren trade)
One sixth (ours is gone, unsure where, but we got Houston's in the Myers deal)
Two sevenths (ours and Tampa Bay's for Jake)

So thats 9 picks, but only two in the first 3 rounds and 7 from the middle to the back end of the draft.

Hopefully we can move down from #12 and pick up at least one extra first day pick and/or a future 1st.

NFLBRONCO

PALM BEACH, Fla. — More cuts are coming to Dove Valley.

Only don't blame Mike Shanahan this time.

In what may be the first sign of a contentious NFL future, league owners put the kibosh Wednesday on a proposal that would have expanded training-camp rosters from 80 to 86 players.

This doesn't help the Broncos' number crunch. Their offseason roster already has 80 players and they still have to make room for nine draft picks and up to six undrafted rookies.

This means the Broncos will be forced to undertake a difficult mix of cutting current players, trading away draft picks (hello, Dewayne Robertson?) and signing fewer college free agents, which in recent years included the likes of Selvin Young, Mike Bell and Erik Pears.

Who on earth writes this ****???

Obviously they just looked at the roster that currently stands at 80 players and not the quality within. There's approx 20 futures players listed within that 80 and the majority of those will make way for draft picks/UDFA's.

If it happens it won't be the first time Plummet's screwed Denver.

I know. At least seven or eight guys will be cut the day before camp (Thump Belton, anyone?). It's just trying to dress up a non-story as something that passes as borderline interesting.

We could probably trade down from #12 to #15 and pick up a 3rd rounder. I don't have my "Jimmy Johnson" chart in front of me, but I think that's about right.

12 to 17 with Minny gets us our original 3rd back from them on the value chart.

I wonder how Jake will take it when the Sandpoint, Idaho Men's Handball League picks up a few young Handball prospects.

Maybe Jake will move on to Bowling, hell some of the guys that bowl 300 have rings just as nice as the older SB rings.
