Few wideouts can make the physical tools of Lance Leggett, but why didn't he make more magic while starting at Miami? Draftguys TV examines the tantalizing but inconsistent performance of one of the 2008 draft's great mysteries.

This kid was spectacular in high school...he went to Arlington (TX) Grace Prep with my daughter. He and Justin Forsette (Cal) played on the same team and won two Texas TAPPS (Texas Association of Private & Parochial Schools) championships. This dude is FAST...in high school he clocked verified 4.3 flats on several occasions and why he didn't explode at Miami is a mystery. He was the 3rd ranked receiver in the country coming out. I gotta think some of his problems were the result of the chaotic problems the Cane program has been undergoing in the last few years. I'm not sure if he gets drafted but if he somehow breaks out of his funk, somebody will get a major talent.

I'll tell you why he didn't pan out.

Two words:

Kyle Wright.

If that were really true...then Darnell Jenkins wouldn't have produced anything either..and Greg Olsen wouldn't have produced anything at all. Kyle was a below average college QB, but Leggett was a complete failure on his own merit. Leggett does not deserve to be drafted.

You see, that's what's so difficult to understand. In high school Lance was a workaholic. He used to be out there running pass patterns and stuff after everyone else went home. He was skinny as a rail as you know...170 or so...now he's bulked up to 193...that HAS to be all weight room cause this guy was rail thin. The kid always exhibited great character too, never any problems with him. I can't help but wonder what happened and weather it's fixable at the next level. I disagree that he's not worth drafting...maybe in the 5th round or later because based on his talent he should have a future NFL career. I'd take him and hope he suddenly gets it.
