What are some of the draft guru's thoughts on him? He has pretty good speed for a saftey 4.35 was his fastest time at the combine. His slowest time was 4.48. He also is a return guy. He had a 13 yard punt return avg and a 22 yard kick return avg. He played FS most of his college career and finished with 17 career INTs. Where do they think he will go? I have seen some sites say he is a third rounder others have him lower.

I really like the kid. Sure his athletic ability is great, but what really stands out to me is the 17 career INT's. You must be doing something right to get that many picks. Don't have any idea what round he will go in, but if we can take him with a fourth I wouldn't be disappointed.

I'm betting he's a 4th rounder. He's in a similar position as Tyrell Johnson, both did great at the combine which dispells the viewpoint that they were overachievers who didn't measure up athletically. Both were very productive players in college.

I think the two of them will be in the same tier as Tom Zbikowksi, which is where the safety depth in this class really lies. Late 3rd to late 4th some solid guys will come off the board.

I'd personally prefer to see us pass on someone like Phillips or DeCoud, the highly rated safeties in this class, and go after one FS type and one SS type from these groups.

FS:
Quintin Demps
Tyrell Johnson
Jonathan Hefney

SS:
Tom Zbikowski
Josh Barrett
Caleb Campbell

One of each, could easily be done entirely with 4th to 7th round picks, and I'd be quite happy with where our safety position stood.

Barrett has unbelievable athletic abilities for his size. He has cornerback speed at LB size. He could be a special player. Even if he doesn't become a starter, he would be a solid ST player.

Amazing talent for sure, biggest question on him though is if he incentive of making a whole lot of money is enough to get him to play up to his talent level. Guy got benched at one point last year if I recall, not a great sign when you are pretty undeniably the best all around athlete on your team.

That said, I'd take a flier on him in round 4 and on.

Sure if Barretts there in the 4th, take him. Hes a beast that could be productive with a little coaching from Lynch.
Pass on Hefney. dudes 5'-7" buck o five, soppin wet. Hes just too small.
Zbickowski another player i dont think should be taken any higher than the 4th either. The most overrated Safety in the draft.
IMHO DEN should go with a FS like Demps somewhere, and get a SS in next years very strong Safety class.

Quintin Demps, FS, UTEP
Height: 5-11. Weight: 206.
Projected 40 Time: 4.46.
Combine 40 Time: 4.40.
Benchx225: 16. Vertical: 31.5.
Projected Round: 2-3.
Pretty good combine!
It doesn't matter that Quintin Demps played in Conference USA; he still managed to accumulate seven interceptions and two forced fumbles in 2007.

Demps struggles to make tackles in space, see Greg Wesley on how well that translates to playing S in the NFL. Otherwise, he is a solid S afety prospect ;D

+ Good ball skills
+ Playmaker

- Questionable Vs. the run
- Has been a questionable tackler
