Dawg alumni's have had success on the Broncos. I don't what round we would take him in though, probably 115th overall or later.
More like a stop gap type kicker Mare, Vanderdick... that type kicker.

there is a lot of decent kickers in this draft, i assume we can grab one with one of our 5ths, and i hope they do.

I wanted Mason Crosby last year. I knew Elam was getting old and near the end. Why wait when we could have drafted another 15 year kicker? The loyalty thing sometimes gets in the way of reason. Who did we get in the later rounds that were worth a **** anyway?

I've actually heard this kicker crop was really bad this year. Am I off base?

That was what the scouts were supposed saying at combine according to NFL All Access show,

And for those that are interested the Anubis training program is infull swing. I believe he just finished liter of cheap vodka and now attempt to kick the cat through the house window. He currently is 1 from 5 from the hall way, but is facing a stiff breeze from the AC.

i know there are atleast 6-7 draftable kickers like serta and coutu, but i dont think there are any elite kickers.

If thats the case, might as well throw a 7th at one and hope it sticks.

Time to sign a vet and wait for a top notch prospect. no need to draft a kicker that we wont let develope.

It sucks having a rookie kicker, not that it will matter for at least a year or two.

This draft is weak for kickers. We will probably bring Mare and idiot kicker in for a tryout. I do believe, however, that we will take Durant Brooks in the 5th or 6th round.
Does anyone have any idea how the Kickers for the 2009 draft look?

What a bummer.
The one special teams area where we had some success was kicking FGs. Now we can likely kiss that goodbye.
This off-season just continues to get better.

Has a very strong leg and he hit from 50+ a number of times with a career long of 58...Has been extremely reliable when it comes to PAT's...Has shown he can make clutch kicks under pressure...Can also be a real weapon on kickoffs...Accurate and makes the ones he's supposed to...Hard worker...Has nice size with a solid frame.
Weaknesses:
Durability might be a concern...Has been a little unpredictable at times...Needs to show a little more consistency on his kickoffs...He didn't kick many game winners.

Last name is pronounced "Ca-TOO"...Missed about half of his junior season with a torn hamstring...Never missed a extra point attempt in college...Had a nice senior year..Essentially has all the physical and mental tools you look for in an NFL kicker. <hr> <table align="center" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" width="75%"> <tbody><tr> <td colspan="13" style="background: transparent url(http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/images/bluegradient.gif) repeat-y scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;"><center>Career Statistics</center></td> </tr> <tr style="font-weight: bold;" align="right"> <td align="left">Year</td> <td align="center">GP</td> <td align="center">FGM</td> <td align="center">FGA</td> <td align="center">LG</td> <td align="center">XPM</td> <td align="center">XPA</td> </tr> <tr align="right"> <td align="left">2003</td> <td align="center"> - </td> <td align="center"> - </td> <td align="center"> - </td> <td align="center"> - </td> <td align="center"> - </td> <td align="center"> - </td> </tr> <tr align="right"> <td align="left">2004</td> <td align="center">12</td> <td align="center">2</td> <td align="center">3</td> <td align="center">44</td> <td align="center">3</td> <td align="center">3</td> </tr> <tr align="right"> <td align="left">2005</td> <td align="center">13</td> <td align="center">23</td> <td align="center">29</td> <td align="center">58</td> <td align="center">45</td> <td align="center">45</td> </tr> <tr align="right"> <td align="left">2006</td> <td align="center">6</td> <td align="center">10</td> <td align="center">11</td> <td align="center">55</td> <td align="center">17</td> <td align="center">17</td> </tr> <tr align="right"> <td align="left">2007</td> <td align="center">13</td> <td align="center">18</td> <td align="center">23</td> <td align="center">52</td> <td align="center">49</td> <td align="center">49</td> </tr> <tr style="font-weight: bold;" align="right"> <td align="left">Totals</td> <td align="center">44</td> <td align="center">53</td> <td align="center">66</td> <td align="center">58</td> <td align="center">114</td> <td align="center">114</td> </tr> </tbody></table> </td></tr><tr bgcolor="#1f6884"> <td colspan="2" style="background: transparent url(http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/images/bluegradient.gif) repeat-y scroll 0% 50%; -moz-background-clip: -moz-initial; -moz-background-origin: -moz-initial; -moz-background-inline-policy: -moz-initial;"> </td></tr></tbody></table>

I thought Anubis was a PUNTER!
And tsiguy96, actually this is a pretty bad year for kickers. But there is one punter I'm coveting pretty hard ... Durant Brooks will prolly be available for a 6th round pick. At Georgia Tech, he hit almost half his punts inside the 20, yet still managed an average of over 45 yards both seasons. He's never had a punt blocked, and Ray Guy is his friend and tutor.
Sheesh ... Mason Crosby and Durant Brooks would have been a great 15-year pair.

I personally think a sleeper kicker like South Dakota State's Parker Douglass might show promise... SDSU is where Adam Vinatieri kicked, and Parker set 19 school records while playing for the Jacks.

Yeah, troubles me too.
I mean, it's one thing if somebody is waiting in the wings, or Elam faced a strong challenge from somebody, but as it stands, the Broncos are...for all sense & purposes...without a kicker or punter.
I guess the expectation is that someone can always walk in and kick 80%+ FG accuracy & 40-50 yard punts in our 'thin air'.
Kickers are an afterthought until that crucial moment where you really, really need a good one, and the Broncos have really, really needed a good one spanning many crucial moments the last few years.
I would imagine we will all be intensely interested to watch how the team remedies this.

Anubis is Fronco Player! He is willing to do anything Shanny asks him to, as long as involves cold hard cash, liters of cheap gin and opportunity to play with dead midgets.
(OPS I think the dead midget was part of my last client (theDAVE) demands )

Hopefully by scoring enough points that FGs aren't needed quite so often...that's the only way we can inmy opinion.
To be fair, we do have multiple 2nd-day picks so we must be looking to pick up a kicker with one of them. Add some vet camp competition and cross your fingers.
What worries me with rookies is the Ernster factor - kick well to win the job and then go missing when a real game comes along. With the vets I'm worried that they weren't good enough for anyone to want to keep them.
Mind you, if we do get someone who can kick field goals AND do kickoffs then we do at least save a precious roster spot....
