View Full Version : Connor runs a low 4.5?

Still trying to dig up their pro-day results and best I can find are some forum chat saying he ran a low 4.5...

I've watched plenty of Dan Connor and honestly, I don't see how that's possible. I would've guessed 4.7 which is average for interior LB's... But if this guy's that good on the field as he's shown, and has that kind of speed, what's the draw back from taking him at 12?

If anyone gets official results, please post in here asap.

If this is true he should shoot up the boards

Yeah but he's always been the "game speed" and not a track star... but if he ran a 4.5...

The contract he'd sign. If they slide down even 5 spots (not to mention the 10-15 I'm hoping for), the difference in signing bonus and salaries is significant.

If he really ran a 4.5, I don't think sliding down is an option.

PS. I'm one of the biggest Connor fans out there, and I have to admit, I still don't believe this 4.5 nonsense... not until I see it as "official results"

I've seen a handful of mock drafts that have been updated this week and none of them had him going even in the first round, much less top 15-20.

Game speed is the only speed, though.

Have always wondered why they want to time them in shorts instead of full pads.

Game speed is the only speed, though.

Tell that to 90% of the ball clubs in the league.

More illegitimate confirmation...

4.56 40 and 22 reps

Still hunting for something legit...

Hmmm... this says:

"The 6-2, 231-pound Connor was clocked by scouts in the mid- to high-4.6s in the 40-yard dash. His 40 time, three-cone drill (6.76), vertical jump (35 inches) and 22 repetitions of 225 pounds rank among the elite scores of inside linebackers tested this year. "

Which is more realistic, imo. Regardless, he'll be a destroyer of worlds at the pro-level.

Denver is not mentioned having a presence at his pro-day... which means he's still definitely on the radar.

I haven't seen him play much but it would be nice to have a nasty mike with some size in the middle. How well does he pursue, cover etc.?

That's pretty impressive if true.

Instead of teams calling him on draft day, he's going to field out harassing phone calls to those who passed on him.

He's good player that has the ability to play all three spots. Is good in coverage and knows how to tackle. My concern is can he get through the trash to make the play. Most likely he will be available at the end of the first or early second.

Don't like his size for a mike personally, but its where his game really fits best. I'd like him about five spots back, absolutely love him at #42, but I'd rather take Goff or Mayo later on than Connor at #12.

NFL.com is reporting Connor ran a 4.67 and 4.71 in the 40. Check their full pro day reports.

I think Goff is the player I like best at mike. He was highly productive in college, has great athletic ability and attends a school that is respected for it's academics (from what I've been told). Seems like he could be the complete package. I just don't know where he will fall. Most mock drafts seem to have him in mid 3rd to early 4th.

Goff is a funny case. Everywhere you look, he's being rated as a 3rd or 4th rounder. Yet his Combine numbers rate with some of the best ILBs of the past ten years. And everybody seems to be really high on him, "but he should be available in the third or fourth". If he's as good as he looks, and the ILB class is shallow, he'll go in the late second or early third. at the latest.

People don't think Goff is a three down LB; because he wasn't that good in coverage. . . but looked good from the videos of him at the combine with his hips and **** in the drills.

We would be better off with Ezra Butler...Hes bigger, stronger, faster, and he played in a pass heavy conference.

What are his numbers from the combine. Just curious.

Tennessee's Jerrod Mayo; 6'1", 242, 4.54 forty and brings the lumber. I'd like him him in the 2nd if he's there...140 tackles last year.

Mayo is a beast. I'd love to get him at 42. Thankfully the Pats don't have their pick @31 b/c I think they would take him there in a heart beat!

Does Jerod Mayo remind anyone of another 6'1 4.54 OLB who moved inside their senior year at TEN? OMG, I can not believe how much those 2 resemble each other on the field. Mayo @ 42 would be outstanding fit for DEN and allow DJ to go back outside.

I'd love to see Curtis Lofton at 42. He's the type of run-stuffing thumper we need in the middle. I see him making a DeMeco Ryan type impact on our defense. He might not have the athleticism of these other LBs but all he does is make plays.

That's the same thing I've heard as well. Fortunately for Denver, we don't need him to play 3 downs. He can play 1st and 2nd and we have 2 great coverage LBers in DJ and Boss to play the Nickel.
