After sending center Chris Myers, a restricted free agent, to the Houston Texans for a sixth-round draft pick, the Broncos have a need.

And they might be filling that need by signing former Chiefs center Casey Wiegmann, who started every game in Kansas City since 2002, and who started 15 games in 2001.

According to Adam Schefter of NFL Network, Wiegmann will arrive in Denver on Tuesday night and visit with the Broncos on Wednesday. The 14-year veteran also has played for the Colts, Jets, and Bears.

He's at the end of the line, but he still has a little bit left in the tank and might make a good insurance policy while bringing some veteran leadership to the team.

I believe he was KC's long snapper as well... a plus as far as roster spots go

I don't get what the big deal is. If we sign him it will be for the veteran minimum and be for depth purposes only. Worst case is he's out of here by camp. We could have hung on to Myers, but now I'll just start getting upset....

Do the pro physicals test for Alzheimers??

I mean, really, he could forget where he's playing and start blocking his own people...and wouldn't Cutler have some issues with a Center who wears Depends...c'mon.

This has to be the most painfully boring start to an off-season we've ever had.

Just brutal.

I know! We let a young, developed Center go to another team for a 6th round pick and then try to fill the void with a crusty, washed-up guy who was on one of the worst o-lines in the league last year? Gimme a break.

Where in the hell is the logic here? And don't tell me about veteran leadership. We have enough leaders on this team. You don't sign back-ups to be your leaders. Leaders start. Leadsers have been on your team for a while. Not guys like this.

Its just depth, chill out!

I'm not all that OK with the loss of Myers, as he provided insurance at all three interior positions, but its not exactly the loss of a future all-pro so I'm not crying about it either. If this guy can provide some cover AND handle the long-snapping then that would be awesome from a roster spots point of view.

I am a little concerned, however: if we move Kuper to Tackle (as has been suggested) then we suddenly have no young interior depth for the future. Then again, we know we can pick up some depth in the late rounds of the draft (where we seem to have a lot of picks now!) so perhaps we shouldn't worry...

He is a very solid player and if Fenton doesn't step up he'll end up on the practice squad again.

Casey was one of the few bright spots left on that Chiefs O-line. We need to start over with another center, so why NOT bring in someone who has played that position well while we develop other talent? Trading away Myers was just...stupid...

Then he'd still be there. They didn't even try to re-sign him. The guy is old and useless.

This may be a key Offseason Addison if someone goes down in our O-line we have veteran depth to back him up

Not really. Maybe he will improve since he won't be in a scheme that pounds the run up the middle. But he was not a bright spot on the line. He constantly got blown off the line and was part of a line that altogether was ****ty. Perhaps he will do better in your scheme though.
