I stand corrected, he really looked like someone that can be worked with. Decent across the board.

EDIT: I guess that's a bad sign when the guy looks generally decent in highlight films though, isn't it?

I thought he looked much better than decent. He showed some awesome hands and concentration on some of those catches. Good YAC too.

if you don't look awesome on your own dedicated highlight film you got problems...

with that said, he may wind up surprising some folks...

personally, i like the signing...

Agreed, upon initially seeing it I liked what I saw. Then I wondered if those were the only plays he ever made. A monkey in a starting role will stumble into plays eventually. See every achievement ever accomplished by one David Carr...

The thing we have to remember is that great QBs can make average receivers look pretty good, and Marshall is going to caommand a ton of attention from defenses. Wes Welker is an average receiver who was made to look great by great QB play, and the presence of Randy Moss.

Wes Welker did everything himself. A player that gets downfield THEN gets the ball is made by the QB. A player who gets the ball barely off the LOS then makes YAC is self made.

highlight reel looks impresive..........then again its a highlight reel.

watching it again it looks like he can be a deep threat and he is very quick. Plus hes got the physical tools. And he did own Ronde Barber for a TD in there. SO hey maybe he could be a #2? Jake Delhomme kinda locked on to Steve Smith and Testeverde and Moore and Kroenke or whoever the f*** PLEASE

I watched Colbert at USC and I think he is a decent player. He's no stud that's for sure but I think can possibly help out. I still think we need another vet WR though but Broncos may be thinking wr first round. Limas Sweed looks pretty good what's up with how you all view him.

Hope he steps up his play a little better than his stint with Carolina...

And where are the safeties in this picture? That's right, they're chasing the legit #1 down the field.

Can anybody remember what was being said about Ed McCaffrey when Denver picked him up. My poor memory remembers injury prone, tall target, nothing special speed wise, average at best, camp fodder - 4th wideout at best. We can only hope that this fellow can find some confidence and meet Rod Smith.

Did or does Carolina have a better O-line than Denver?

With Jay back there, he should be able to get him the ball if he can stretch the field with decent protection.

Watching alot of Carolina games I have noticed that Delhomme does lock onto Steve Smith on about 85% of the Panthers pass plays. When Smith is either quadruple covered or just out of position Delhomme then would look to Keary and just kind of try and fit it in there. At this point he was usualy under alot of pressure because he wasted 6 seconds staring down Smith and he would have to just sling it at Colbert. Most of Colberts highlight reel plays were plays where Delhomme either A. Got great protection and was alowed to stare at Steve Smiths ass as he ran down the field or B. looked to his second option first because the Cordinator knew he could fool the defense by acctualy getting Jake to look to another reciver. Ive always like Keary when he was with the Panthers, and I have always thought to myself how under utalized he is. But what are you going to do when you have a Jake throwing you the ball?

Yeah, I noticed the quickness too. Looks like he's pretty elusive and can find some separation. Also looks extremely passionate... especially about spiking. Hilarious!

Per ESPN.

Who's going to be the least productive free agent? Denver's Keary Colbert. You have to wonder how the Broncos got the impression that Colbert could be a No. 2 receiver. Apparently, they want Jay Cutler to be the second coming of Jake Plummer, not John Elway. Colbert was given every opportunity to be a starter in Carolina and he kept flopping (even with Steve Smith taking away all the coverage). The Broncos loved Colbert when he was coming out of college and stuck with that impression. They need to update their scouting files and put Colbert's report in the Arena Football League folder.

I was actually more interested in the lead line in that story about Walker being a mistake by the raiduds. I'm a bit torn on that one, because I recognize that Walker is a good player* (when not missing half the season), but a bit of a lockerroom cancer, which Oakland WAY overpaid for. This kind of signing deserves print space...but not the Colbert signing, IMO.

Yasinskas covers the Panthers and thinks Colbert is a bust...and says Denver makes a mistake. But what would any reporter covering the panthers know about offense? I'm not surprised Espn included a hack reporter taking jabs at a departing player that "should" have been better.....on an offensive superpower named the Carolina Steve Smith's? Brilliant.

Agreed. Between his "OMG, I caught the ball!!" celebrations and Mike Bell's "OMG, I ran for four yards" dance/jitterbug/convulsions, we should definitely lead the league in post-doing-what-any-half-decent-player SHOULD do celebrations . . . . . . . in the preseason, that is. :wiggle:

It takes much less than a 2nd round pick to get an average receiver. I'm sorry to see you are so misinformed. What slot receiver on the Vikings or Raiders had 1000 yards receiving because Moss was on the field? :ouwknow:

The kid can't run routes very well. His hands are ok not good or bad, good enough for what he is. A vertical/deep post threat. Many folks falsely believe he sucks. Try having Jake Delhomme as your QB when you specialize in the deep routes. I like Delhomme, but the fact is, 98% of Steve Smith's long plays were catches short/medium and then turned into a long play.

He is what we need. Cutler has the gun for the routes he specializes in, the (1)deep post (2)deep fly (3)the fake fly, comeback route.

He is the perfect complement to Marshall on one side and Stokely in the slot.

The kid does the same things as well as Stallworth and isn't perma-injured like Hackett. Barring injuries, this will be a great signing fellow Bronco fans.

I'm not Mr. Optimistic either. Only other signing I like is Boss and that's even a bit sketchy with his injury history. McCree is an OK signing too, but just ok.

I hate USC, and I will stab if someone even had a thought about that being the reason I like the signing. :D

Not only does he suck, but looking at DJ Hackett's contract, they manage to overpay Kolbert as well.

Even an Ashley Lelie highlight reel could make it through the entire song.

Uhh, dude. Do you even read threads before you post on them? Obviously not...I couldn't of spelled it out better in my post. How about you argue some of the points I made at least. Let's try that.

Uhh, Dude. I thought your post was a joke, I wasn't taking it seriously. But to your points:

"The kid can't run routes very well. His hands are ok not good or bad" -- I agree. He's not a starter.

"the (1)deep post (2)deep fly (3)the fake fly, comeback route." -- That's Ashley Lelie. Except Colbert is shorter and slower and has been less productive.

"He is the perfect complement to Marshall on one side and Stokely in the slot." -- I disagree. Somebody that's actually good like Reggie Wayne or Torry Holt would be a great complement.

"The kid does the same things as well as Stallworth and isn't perma-injured like Hackett. Barring injuries, this will be a great signing fellow Bronco fans." -- I think Stallworth sucks too (there's a reason he's on team #4) so the comparison doesn't get me excited. I agree Hackett has durability issues but he's been more productive and his contract is $750G per year cheaper. That's money that could go elsewhere.

"Only other signing I like is Boss and that's even a bit sketchy with his injury history. McCree is an OK signing too, but just ok." -- Not thrilled with Boss. Like Colbert, he's faded since his rookie year.

For the record, I hope you're right.
