time for an update....for reference, here's (http://www.orangemane.com/BB/showthread.php?t=65143&highlight=ayjackson+v1.0)v1.0:

I've read enough scouting reports to make an ass of myself (1.0)...

1. Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State
2. Ali Highsmith, OLB, LSU
4. DeMario Pressley, DT, NC State
4. Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa
5. Will Franklin, WR, Missouri
5. Alvin Bowen, OLB, Iowa State
7. David Roach, S, TCU
7. Mike Gibson, OT/OG, Cal

Considering that, here's v2.0:

With nothing appetizing at the 12 spot, and the Vikes eagre to land an impact DE, the Broncos trade their 12 pick for 17 and their third back (#73).

1.17 Kentwan Balmer, DT, North Carolina
2.42 Dre Moore, DT, Maryland
3.73 John Greco, RT/RG, Toledo
4.104 Beau Bell, MLB, UNLV
4.115 Tony Hills, LT, Texas
5.130 Will Franklin, WR, Missouri
5.140 David Roach, S, TCU
7.202 Jack Ikegwuonu, CB, Wisconsin

No messing around with DT. Went for the best two after Dorsey/Ellis, IMO. Tackles got bumped a bit, but Clady's gone and Williams isn't great in the run game and the rest I'm not sure about. Hills is a promising project at LT, though, if Harris doesn't pan out and injuries subside. Greco can step in at RT.

I didn't assume any more FA movement but if things happen on the Robertson front or the Foxworth front, it could affect things here.

i get plenty of UM games in DC and Dre Moore, isn't a guy that every stood out.

If you want DT in the think Red Bryant of Texas AM or the Ahtyba Rubin in the fourth. And the kid Doston out of AU is another DT that might fit into our new attacking defense.

The only DT that fits the Broncs in the first three rounds is Dorsey. It should be another "wait till next year" draft at DT.

That's what we thought about Harrell too. As a result, we missed him. And when we missed Harrell, we immediately traded up to get the last D-lineman on our first round board, Jarvis Moss. At least that's how I saw it.

I thought about throwing another trade down in there, but didn't want to be too unrealistic. Reaching 5 to 10 spots for a player isn't really a big deal. He gets a first round grade in my book.

I know BPC and Req don't think he's plays the right technique for us and there may be something to that, but I want three starting quality DT's and one of them better be able to replace Thomas after his lives run out.

Maybe in the final version, we'll throw Anthony Collins out there in the second and Red Bryant in the third.

The difference is that Harrell was the best DT in the SEC as a junior and had a solid sophamore season. He was a 100% effort guy. Balmer has never had that attribute in his corner.

I wouldnt agree with that totally. He had ups and downs but his last year he was definitely playing top notch.

Do you think Balmer will bust in the NFL, or do you agree with "pundits" that place him as the third or fourth best DT in the draft?

I think the only DT's worth more than a 4th rounder are Dorsey and Ellis at NT. Better to go into the season with Thomas and McKinley than waste an early choice. DTis obviously a need, but better to pick a player that can contribute someplace rather than reach for a guy who will never do anything just because he fills a need. With their first six picks, it would not surprise me to see two OL, two WR and a RB. That's where the talent is in this draft.

I personally feel he will bust. He had 3.5 sacks last year and that was by far his most productive year. Let's also be honest here, he plays in a pretty weak conference. Here are the rankings for sacks allowed at the NCAA level Maryland(105) East Carolina(58), N Carolina St.(79) and Duke (112). The only decent team listed in E. Carolina and that was his partial sack. Bottom line is he has been decent this year (which most people are in their senior year, you'd think they would be decent by their final year especially going against underclassmen), but not spectatular against sub par competition. I'm not saying he won't be an excellent pro, but he seems to be a very risky pick. There will be players available at our pick with a greater body of work.
