NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting that the 49ers will part ways with WR Darrell Jackson.
----

Not sure what, if any he has left in terms value. But a look see couldn't hurt, I mean he's been in the west coast system his entire career. He could also be an insurance policy for Colbert and Stoke.

I'd take him. I think he could be a very effective #2. The only thing that concerns me is his CCS disease. If it weren't for that he'd be a borderline #1!

maybe another slot WR... wouldn't hurt to bring him into camp to get a closer look

Was he not a member of that Seahawk receiver corp that dropped more balls than another team? I am not interested in the cast offs of a mediocre team who is known for having a case of droppsie.

Darrell "Oh ****, I dropped another!" Jackson? Pass..

Prior to going to hell (San Fran) DJac avg right around 1000 yards, 15 ypc, and 7 TD's per season. Sure, he's had a case of CCS (Can't Catch $hit) but he has been productive. I think he led the league in dropped passes a couple years back, but then they also considered a lot of passes defended as drops too.

Bottom Line. 2 years, $4 or 5 mil... DO THE DEAL. Anything more than that and I'd say no. I'd even consider a 1 year $2.5m deal to see what he can do.

Amen. And if he's not dropping them he's hurt. His occassional spectacular catches are not outweighed by the often time game defining drops.

He's only 30. He would make a better number two then anything on our roster now.

Figured Lelie would become expendable before Jackson.

Jackson didn't play well last yr but I think he's just the kind of vet that could maybe help a little this yr. If he's cheap I think Broncos should take a look.

If signing him means that we don't take a WR on day one, I'm all for it.

Darrell Jackson is the real life equivalent of Clifford Franklin minus the speed and stickum.

Jackson couldn't catch the clap in a $5 whore house.

Worthless bum. He will kill drives with his patented drops.

Then get reeady for a wr first round, but you will all probably hate that as well. The fact is however Broncos need more wr because Marshal, Stokley and Colbert aren't going to cut it. In fact I think we will be lucky if Stokley even plays in ever game.

Well Shanny even said Stokes is only gonna play like 10-15 plays a game from now on.

So then who plays the other 50 snaps a game? What happens if Marshal gets injured? This team is so thin at WR I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 WR selected in the draft with one being on first day. Broncos IMO are heading for a really bad yr. My suggestion was get a cheap vet to play some this yr so we won't have to roll out complete scrubs.

Get ready for a long year people. Maybe 7-8 wins tops and then shanny prob resigns or gets canned.

Totally agree. I know he's had problems, but he's also had 80+ receptions in a few seasons. Letting him line up at #2 doesn't seem like a bad idea. Though, I think he cost the Niners about $3 mil last year against the cap.

I would like to see him sign, but not for the $$ Minnesota gave Berrian. I don't even think he'll be reasonably priced with the way FA is going this year.

I actually like him in the number 2 role here with Stokely in the slot until he is hurt then Colbert can do a fine job there.

I know he was pretty much the go to guy with the Hawks but he wouldn't be here. He avgs about 60 catches per year for his career and just over 6 tds a season. Last year was his worst yard per catch season but it was still over 10 per catch. He aslo has a career avg of 41 first downs per year. Last year was pretty much the worst year in the NFL for Jackson that he wasn't hurt but his poor stats but him on the same level as Stokley who for most of the season was our number two guy and that can't happen.
Don't get me wrong I was high on Keary Colbert coming out of college but I would be fearful of him being handed over the number two spot without a vet to compete with. We all know that Stokley will not be that guy do to the fact he is better when he only plays 10-20 snaps a game. We have no vet leader from the WR position at all outside of Stokley. Outside of Stokley and Marshall only Colbert has more then 50 career catches.

I wouldn't expect him to grab 80 catches with us. But, with him being the #1on other teams, I think he good do well here lining up against the #2 CB. Last year was a joke with the Niners QB situation. No one would of succeeded in that system. I definitely would feel a lot better if Jackson was in the #2 battle.
