Broncos' Jason Elam to Meet with Falcons
By Eric Goodman, Sports Director

DENVER - Denver Broncos kicker Jason Elam has meetings scheduled with another team.

FOX 31 Sports Director Eric Goodman reports that Elam will meet with the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday and Thursday, March 19 and 20.

Elam, 37, is the greatest kicker in the history of the Denver Broncos. The Broncos have not offered him a contract.

Elam has said that he is hesitant to move his family from Denver. But, his hometown is Atlanta. It was reported previously that he would consider playing for the Falcons, if he didn't reach a deal with the Broncos.

Elam, who is one of the last links to the Broncos Super Bowl titles, kicked four game winning field goals this past season.

If we aren't going to get him he would do best in a dome stadium...

Seems like a dumb move for a team that likely won't be doing much anytime soon to spend big money on a 37 year old kicker.

I'm kinda torn on this one. Of course we all love Elam and he is Mr. Clutch, there are no doubts about that. But, since he doesn't kick off any more, you have to either have a punter that does double duty or you bring in a big leg just for kick offs. Both ways you take up another roster spot AND.........you probably are not going to get a good kick off guy with having being the "other guy". I think Mike is tired of giving the other team the ball at the 40 yard line every time we kick off. So you are really having to weigh Elams clutch FG's with giving up 20 extra yards every kick off. It's a tough call. IMHO, I think this team is going through a rebuilding phase and drafting a young stud kicker to take over makes good sense. One kicker, One punter, 2 spots. That's it. No more 3 roster spots for kickers.

TIME TO KICK HIM OFF OF MY SUPPORT LIST? ...I hope not (it going to kill me - Don't Taser me Bro!), BUT if it is, I would like to formerly petition you Great and Noble fellow Omaners to allow me represent our new kicker.

No, Jason. That Tornado was an omen from God. Don't go there!

He could be gone. Hopefully it's just posturing to get the Broncos to raise their asking price. I feel we should keep him at least this year and then see what might be available next year when the kicker class should be better.

Rather him go to ATL than anywhere else.

As far as I know the team never offered him a contract, so that seems to point to they have a kid targeted in the draft. I think he's gone.

I'm torn here. I love Jason...he's clutch...I will hate to see him in anything but Orange and Blue for the Broncos...but 3 mill and he doesn't do kickoffs... :(

Have to agree Sass. Love the guy and what he has meant to this franchise but its time to find another kicker. He came up in big moments last year but still missed his fair share as well. Just time to upgrade and hope when all is said and done that he retires a Bronco.

elam is gone, sooo long 3, your not worth 3 million a yr anmymore, only kickers that make 50+ consistently are, you use to be the best and will always be a bronco, but nothing wrong with taking some cash and kicking for a horrible team.

For crying out loud, the Broncos offered him a deal where he would still be paid among the top 5 kickers in the league, something like 2.5 million a year, but they had it worded so that it was essentially a year by year deal, which for a kicker at his age that doesn't kick off is more than a good deal in my opinion.

So for an additional .5 million a year or so, he's going to uproot his family and play for a team that FOR SURE has no chance at the playoffs.

Sorry, Jason, loved what you've done for us, but "buh bye."
