That One Guy

Right off the bat that looks similar to Hall. Why is this guy special and worth a pick?

I got a hunch that hes gonna be a good player he reminds me of Brian Westbrook

I don't know anything about him besides those three videos but I can't say I was all that impressed...didn't seem to have much wiggle, just got by people with shoulder jukes. Not claiming to be a draft expert by any means, just my first impression

He graduated with a degree in finance in three years. Both parents and a sister have PhD. Has played well at Georgia, but was hurt all last year and then got caught behind the freshman phenom.

Mayock just picked him as one of his guys that will be a better pro than college player. Says he has the same build as a Brian Westbrook, is a better runner between the tackles than given credit for, but needs to prove he can catch the ball.

Late round RB out of Georgia? Sounds familiar.

Where do we sign up? :contract:

Sounds like thats where punisher got his hunch from, and the build of a Brian Westbrook...I saw the same question asked to Mayock, of who could be a top surprise pick in the later rounds ala Tom Brady & Terral Davis. Which he said it was basically a crap shoot & if any team knew the answere they'd sweep him up earlier. But he did like this guy as a hb & returner.

If we're going to pick a 5'8" RB, I hope it's Ray Rice.

Speaking of Hall ... I've been nursing a theory about players in general: some guys - MANY guys - would surprise you and might even become stars if they had a chance to really play. I don't think we're ever gonna find out how good Andre Hall could be, because I don't think he'll ever get the chance to really play a lot. Although there's a fair amount of evidence to show it, I'm still not convinced Mike Bell can't be a feature back, or at least a 3rd down specialist. He had some excellent games as a rookie in '06, and was nails on the goalline. But because of a fumble, he's permanently relegated down on the depth chart, and on top of that we signed Travis Henry. Now, if we waive Bell this summer, he might not catch on elsewhere ... and the career he couldda had as a feature back or at least a #2 would never happen. And it's all arbitrary based on one fumble, signing Henry, and getting lucky with CFAs Young and Hall.

My point is: If players aren't First-Day draft picks, they're not gonna automatically be given a chance to play, and it's very, VERY arbitrary whether they ever will. There's diamonds in the rough all over the place ... and many are cut in training camps cause they didn't get a real chance to play. Mike Anderson is a great example - Shanny couldda cut him as a 26 year-old rookie and nobody would've blinked an eye. But instead, he had two or three 1,000 yard seasons. Even Reuben Droughns, who was almost out of the league, had 1,000 yard seasons both here and in Cleveland ... because he was given a chance to play.

Hall and Bell have shown enough that they COULD be given bigger chances. But they never will, because Henry and Young are ahead of them (and some knuckleheads on this board want to draft a 1st day RB, which is nonsense). There's no denying that careers are made and broken by arbitrary decisions.

An ancillary point there is: WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING RUNNING BACKS!!!! And our LB corps has recently become very, very young.

Soo... we should draft multiple DTs, plus a S, WR, FB, OT and P.

Drafting even one running back would be arbitrary in the extreme ... Travis Henry is a proven workhorse, and Young, Hall and Bell are three VERY young and promising backs. Give these guys some freaking decent chances before you squander precious picks on a position of depth and strength.
