OK. So our team needs a ST stud like Hester, we all would like that. But the thought of a 166 lb. Desean Jackson at #12 makes me want to hurl. So, here is the poll. Who do you think will have the better Pro Career? And, who would you pick?

DeSean Jackson (with the #12 pick)

2008 NFL Draft Prospect - Scouting Report
Jackson is projected as one of the top wide receiver prospects in college football in a very deep receiver class, because he is one of the few receiver prospects possessing both elite speed and quickness. He has the chance to score every time he touches the ball. Jackson is at his best with the ball and in space; he makes tacklers miss with his shifty moves and then separates with his top-end speed. Jackson has not had the season statistically that many expected due to an early season injury and erratic quarterback play. He lacks bulk at 166 (which causes concern for some NFL scouts), but his playmaking ability will make most teams overlook it. Jackson finished the 2007 regular season with 681 yards on 60 receptions and 5 receiving touchdowns as well as one rushing touchdown. Jackson is a also dangerous punt returner and will likely contribute immediately in the return game at the next level. There is not another draft prospect that has the natural quickness and athleticism that Jackson does. He was the fastest receiver at the combine, running a 4.35 forty yard dash. He showed good quickness and speed in position drills. Teams concerns have nothing to do with Jackson's speed or quickness; it is with his size (at just under 170 pounds). Despite his lack of ideal bulk, Jackson will likely go in the top half of the first round.

or, Dexter Jackson (with a trade down third rounder)

2008 NFL Draft Prospect - Scouting Report
Jackson played as a true freshman for Appalachian State in 2004. He grabbed 17 passes for 239 yards with one TD, also returning 22 kicks for 394 yards with an impressive 17.9 yards per kick return. He started seven of fourteen games during his sophomore season, when he had 30 catches for 449 yards and five TDs. He also returned kicks and punts for more than 400 yards. During the 2006 season, Jackson started nine of fifteen games. He grabbed 33 balls for 470 yards with three TDs. Again, he returned kicks for 369 yards and two more TDs. He was named to the All Southern Conference First Team squad as a kick returner. Jackson had 30 receptions for 688 yards, with a personal high of eight TDs, during the 2007 season and was invited to play in the East-West Shrine Game where he dazzled scouts with his crisp route running and impressive speed.

Jackson is a very athletic player who possesses great natural speed (4.40-40). He has a quick and smooth release from the line and is also very quick getting in and out of the break. He can create good separation. He also has smooth body control, with soft and reliable hands. He is also a good kick returner. Although he has tremendous speed, sometimes he does not play up to it. He is undersized and is not an effective blocker. He could have trouble getting separation from the line due to below average strength. He is still very raw at this moment.

Jackson improved his draft stock tremendously during the Shrine's practice week workouts. He also played very good in the game itself. All that said, Jackson is still a work in progress. He needs better coaching and more effort if he is to make it at the next level. He was probably a priority free agent before the East-West game, now he projects as a late six rounder pick. Jackson's best opportunity to make an NFL roster has to be as a kick returner or slot receiver.

I know the poll says Dexter will go in the sixth, but I have seen other reports putting as early as the third, that is why I called him a trade down third rounder. Even better in rounds 4 or later.

Wait, why do you have him as a 3rd rounder in the poll (which I voted). The scouting report puts him as a 6th rounder. Ive been duped

Edit: oh ok, gotcha.

Harry Douglas (not necessarily for the ST role, but just for the speed WR role)

I'll say it again, DeSean Jackson will be our 1st rond draft choice. Don't agree with it, but Shanny is looking for the next Hester.
