Hey there fellow hacks. The, ahem, dumbass who hit the bird got me thinking that the weather is turning nice (at least here in Albuquerque) and that it's time to dust off the clubs and start taking divots out of the earth the size of my foot.

Truthfully, I actually have been out twice already. Once 2 weeks ago in the freezing cold (terrible idea) and once a week ago in nice weather.

Well, for me at least, the upper 50's and 60's are coming this week, and will be here to stay. Color me excited.

So, let's start some general golf discussion. What clubs are you rocking, where are you playing, what balls are you using, what gear are you wearing?

(And what booze are you drinking each hole!)

O god I need golf...NOW!
I'm having huge withdrawls.
I live on a very nice golf coarse in Iowa and I won't be playing golf for probably another month ) :

I pretty much buy a new club or two a year. Right now I own:

(1) Ping Craz-ee Putter ( FAV CLUB)
(1) Cleavland Hi-Bore 9 1/2degree Driver
(1) Set of Wilson Fat shaft irons 3-SW
(1) Nike 60 degree wedge
(1) King Cobra 3 wood

My favorite balls are the Titleist Pro V I's
You could also catch me hitting almost any Titleist ball or Nike ball.
I'm actually pretty picky though, but I don't loose many balls, so it's all good.
I ALWAYS golf in slacks and a polo....end of story. I like to look good on the links though. I guess yoo could probably catch me in shorts once in a while, but def not often. Usually wear a hat, too. I got a pretty sick white Ping hat that I usually rock out( :I got down to a scratch golfer by the end of the summer last year, so I'm hoping to play in more tournys this summer and continue gettin better( :

Those are my main clubs I have others, but right now that is what I would take out during a tournament. I plan on replacing my 7 wood which got snapped in half in a freak event last summer. Also, always looking at upgrading. If you got any deals on some nice clubs let me know( : Or any good sites/stores. I enjoy shopping on EBAY quite a bit, but I've been VERY lucky, so I figure my luck will end there soon. I will probably buy another set of irons just to have. I LOVE my irons right now though, Too!!!

P.S. If any of you are ever near or in Manchester, IA check out the Manchester golf coarse( SOMETIMES CALLED THE COUNTRY CLUB). That is thecoarse I live in and work at during the summers!!!

Haven't been out yet this year...I don't get out enough!

Right now I'm using Cobra irons , Cobra 3, 5 and 7 woods with a
no name driver.

My company is giving me a set of callaway X2-0 irons for my 35 years service award...
I could have chosen something else (besides the Callaways..like a watch, clock etc.) , but the Cobras are coming up on 9 years and I'm looking for new enthusiasm....

Read a review that says they give better control and are fairly forgiving on hitting straight....

I used to slice like crazy....now I tend to hook if I'm not careful.

still looking to break 90 with any consistency. Guess I need to play more!

I've been going out for the past 4 weeks with the nice weather. Plus, after the tourney magic the Masters is coming up. I am thinking of having a Sunday party for it. And I just bought Cleveland wedges CG14 with the orange on them. :) AW,GW,SW, and LW. I hit the driver, SQ Sumo, about 250(I know I should hit it further), I hit the 2I about 210, and the 5I about 175. Slingshot irons for me with hybrids 2-4I/5-9W.

My folks live on a golf course here, and man I love it. Being literally 60 seconds away from a tee box. Even though I want to move out onto my own, I will really miss living on a course. Although I'll still have full membership to play.

Anyways. I've got a Callaway driver... I know I should know which kind, but I have a buddy who works for a golf company and he hooked me up with it. Just told me it would be good for me, and gave me a killer price. Also have some Nike OSS Slingshot irons. For some reason my uncle hated them and gave them to me. Can't understand why, I love them. Have a putter, was a gift from my Dad. It'll be the next thing I replace, but I need to learn how to putt first, haha.

As for balls, I do Callaways... And I lose way too many. Also rock a Callaway glove. I really enjoy Callaway stuff, actually. Usually wear a Nike Golf visor though, which is odd.

For dress... You know it's funny, I always did jeans and a polo or cargo shorts and a polo. But the other day, I had just gotten off work, so I had slacks on and then threw on a polo. Even tucked in the polo. It was good stuff. I need to golf like that more often.

the v1's are so expensive, but I do hit the NXT's.

Yeah I know it. Luckily working at the club I get like 50% of golf balls, so I can afford them.

Did you enjoy playing in the slacks. I just started to every time this summer and I LOVE it. I feel SOOOOO comfortable, which is something I didn't think I would ever say when I said polo and slacks for golfing.

I wear such loose fitting pants that it doesn't bother me. The day I get really good, I am sporting the Payne Stewart classic get up. :)

Do you watch the commercials? Is there a half-time show? Do you have prop bets?

I've been putting in the living room for months, and once a week or so I head to a heated driving range and bang balls out into the snow. I'll probably get out there today as a matter of fact, but being in Boston we've got a couple of months before any grass is open.

I'm going to be playing the "Golf Channel Amatuer Tour" this summer, and I'm as excited as all get out to play some competitive golf. Anyone else looked into that? They have tours set up around a lot of the bigger cities throughout the country. It should be a good time, and a chance to meet some other golf addicts.

Played at last Saturday, and now the course has snow all over it again! Guess I need to go snowboarding this weekend.

My wife and I buy have bought so many new clubs over the years, we could literally start a used golf equiptment store out of our garage.

Haha. It would just be a few friends that like Golf. I am thinking about getting a quarter keg, setup the Wii with TW08 on another TV in the living room, and cooking up some food.

Getting practice round tickets isn't too hard, but the event is almost impossible. I used to work with an executive that went every year. This guy was a mutli-millionaire, and that was as close as he was ever going to get to the course.

I have been to Augusta...just not for the Masters.

It tops the list of sporting events I would love to see. Followed by the 500 and the Derby.

I have tried to scrape up a Day 1 or Day 2 ticket for awhile now I must not be sleeping with the right sort of girls.

My grandfather raised me and taught me the game of golf (god rest his soul)

I played golf all my life up till about three years.

Sold my clubs and bag, but kept my putter.

Its about the only i have left to remember my grandfather.

Callaway Bobby Jones model, sweet stick.

Its amazing how a sport like golf can bring you closer together.

Great thread, Rhyme. Is Tanoan the course your folks live on?

I have been out to practice four times and played twice this year. It was pretty ugly. I have a bad habit of taking the club past parallel and trying to lift the ball instead of hitting down on it. I have worked hard on fixing it but when i've done it the wrong way for so long... it's tough to change.

I played some pretty beautiful and pretty challenging tracks this yr. Sandia and Twin Warriors. Kept it under 90 but only because I was rolling it well.

Last summer I played Pagosa and Dalton Ranch. Dalton was gorgeous! Any of you from CO play those before? On the same trip we played at TPC Scottsdale right before last years FBR. They had all the stands up and everything. They even give you a caddy there. I'm as much a hack as anyone but I felt like a big shot. Scottsdale really isn't that hard though. I see why the pro's put up such low numbers.

I upgraded my sticks last season to the Taylor Made R7's. I like em a lot. They're a little on the heavy side, which I prefer, and hit it extremely high. My old man just got this years Callaway X20's and let me tell ya... Golf Digest rated them #1 for good reason. Very easy to hit.

I hope you all have a good season and hit em straight. Until the cold wind calms down here, it's back to watching Golf Channel Academy and Personal Lessons on the golf channel, for me.

Yeah MHM, that's the course.

Anyways, got to play today. Got a little breezy for my taste, but I actually am starting to get my swing back. Next week it'll be 60s, and it's going to be awesome.

cant wait to get out and play. its even more important to me given that i played less than ten times in a year and half. im about a year out of major back surgery, and i can finally make a full turn again, so this should be a fun year. God knows i need some stress relief, though my long layoff might lead to more frustration than anything else. we'll see.
i got out once a few weeks back and was only 10 over (including back to back double's) so that was pretty encouraging.
i doubt ill play to the 6.7 that i was at before the back problems (at first anyway) but 2-3 times a week this season should get me back in form.

taylormade R7 10.5*
maxfli 5 wood
cleveland TA-7 2 iron, driving iron
cleveland CG4 3-PW
cleveland TA-6 SW, AW
cleveland CG11 60*
callaway oddysey putter
callaway HX tour ball (HX hot is my secondary ball)

ps- yes, i know thats more than 14 clubs. the course i play decides which clubs stay in the car and which ones make it in the bag.

I have had to try to rebuild a swing after a major surgery to my right ankle I started playing really on one foot (mistake) and now 5 years later I am back to making a good weight transfer off my back foot (bad ankle) through the swing and back to my front. I am rocking
Ping G2 10*
warbird 3W
warbird 5W
ping isi berillium irons 2-pw
clevland SW
clevland lw
Ping Zing 2f putter
this puts me over the limit in my bag which is 14 i think but I am looking at replacing my 3w 5w and 234irons with new hi-bred low irons I have never used them but my friends in the industry tell me they are awesome.

I have been going between my isi and a set of titlest irons that I have had for a while the isi's are way more foregiving but I love thoes titlest blades when I am playing well. I really havent settled on a ball I like the prov1 but the price hurts a bit. I found some nike black one on sale for 29.99 at golf usa off coors. they have the simulator there and man that thing is cool, it tells you your distance, club head speed, speed of the ball, the spin on the ball, angle of impact, ball flight, just seems like a really usefull tool. this year I am hopeing to get the handycap back under 5 Im about 8-10 I would guess
