DENVER—A House committee has approved a proposal to allow liquor stores to open on Sundays.
The House Finance Committee voted 9-1 Wednesday to send the bill to the appropriations committee for a vote.
The Senate has already passed the bill.
Liquor store owners fought previous attempts to change the state's blue laws, saying they would rather stay closed on Sundays.
This year, many of them switched positions in hopes of blocking another proposal that would allow supermarkets to compete with them by selling full-strength beer and wine.
A Senate committee killed the supermarket bill last month.

Back in my hometown of Roswell alcohol sells was not permitted within city limits on Sunday. Everybody had to go outside city limits to a convience store called Allsups. Great place to meet up with people. Everytime I went I saw somebody I haven't seen in a long time.

I don't believe so. They talked on the news about the fact the law will bring in 4-6 million dollars in revenue. I don't think you get that kind of revenue from two three beer.

Nothing like the government telling you you're not allowed to buy booze on Sunday.

i was going to post this but not until it was really passed.
too late to save me and my friends from the 3.2 blues at the lake on sundays back in the day.-we were too young and stupid to stock up on saturday night back then. well we did but used to get carried away and drink it all that night.
still, on a sunday with no work on mon. and friends pop in or an unplanned sunday bbq, i say about freakin' time. welcome to the 21st century CO.

Blue laws are total bullshat. I'll do everything I can to help bring them all down.
I talk a lot of trash about the place I live but there's one thing I'm very thankful for here in Western NY state....we are free from the blue law bullshat. No dry Sundays, no 3.2 crap, booze can be bought anywhere on any day.....thank God.

I kinda liked the Sunday thing... more for tradition of Sunday being a down day than anything.
I live in a dry county now in KY. There's liquor stores as soon as you cross county lines... they lose so much revenue that way.

This is how it is in Washington state as well. Total bull**** state run monopoly. Only a handful of store across the entire state are even open on saturday or after 8pm any day.
I don't understand how people here are just ok with that and allow the state to run it this way.

Not being from Denver, what does it mean? Were you allowed to previously buy alcohol in bars and at the stadium? Here in Michigan, they can't sell alcohol until 12:00 noon on Sundays...anywhere, bars, stadium, stores, etc...and another thing, on Christmas day no alcohol sales at all...so when the Lions played on Xmas a few years ago (and the Broncos in 99)...no alcohol sales in the stadium.

You just couldnt buy alcohol in liquor stores (ie wine, hard liquor, etc) You could buy 3.2 beer in the grocery stores. Bars, resturaunts etc. are all open and the same

At my tailgates on sunday we dring only juice and milk until noon, then it's "open season".:spit:
Re: this law. If you plan ahead this minor inconvinience shouldn't matter.

LOL I am calling BS on this one. I have opened a beer at your tailgate at 6am many times. I guess Mississippi Mud is not considered alcohol ROFL!

No better way to celebrate God's day that with an Ice Cold Bud. Can't wait to see CO get out of the dark ages.
