An ungodly phenomenal talent ... but also the worst SOB ever.
His horrific blindsiding that Packer, with intent to injure, and then actually trying to start a fistfight with Packers head coach Mike Sherman on the sidelines was the most shameful onfield incident ever. As bad as Romo and JJ Stokes, almost as bad as Albert Hayneworth.
I hate the guy.

I still think he could "unretire" after the draft so as to screw us out of the pick we would have received.

The Packer he blind sided was Chad Clifton. Did he really try to start a fist fight with a head coach, or you all hopped up again?
You silly ****.

I'm surprised he is retiring, the way Oakland is throwing around money these days I would have figured that Sapp would be due for a multi million dollar deal from the Faid.

He leaves the League the same way as he entered it......as a total lickbag.
Good riddance.

No, you savage ... he DID! I can't believe you don't remember. 50 year old 5'11" 175 pound Packers head coach Mike Sherman approached Sapp after the game - as the teams were leaving the field - to express his displeasure with the vicious and cowardly blindside. Sapp instantly went ghetto-hostile, and loudly threatened to pound Sherman's ass ... implied that he needed to be restrained by his teammates. Serious. It was all captured on video too.
A guy like Sapp - with a very high profile among American youth - to resort to such base animal drives only reinforces the idea that such animal drives are acceptable in society. I don't have the words to express how wrong that message is ... hundreds of thousands of years of evolution and societal maturation of our species, and this role-model goes caveman in front of a large, impressionable audience.
He is everything that is backwards and wrong in the development of the homo sapien species, and it's a crime of nature that he's among the handful of best DTs ever to play the game. I'm gonna go Howard Stern on the guy and say cancer is too good for him :nono:
