We'll probably start the festivities next Tuesday (March 11).

We will need at least 14 contestants to make a go of it this year.

I can probably handle up to 32 ... maybe even more if I have to.

Early "registration" includes CBF1, who notified me that he would be out of the country this week, so he's our first "official contestant."

Others who are interested may sign up on this thread.

I expect the game this year to take about two weeks.

The "theme" will be announced later.

In order to participate, you'll have to be able to log into the site once a day, Monday to Friday, once the game gets going, in order to cast your votes. Anything beyond that, such as PMing people for alliances and strategies, etc. is optional. All I care about are the votes themselves and you will generally have about 24 hours between rounds to cast them.

Sign up is more or less first come first serve, but if we wind up with more than 15 "newbies" signing up in the first day or so, I may put a temporary freeze on the signup in order to let the "veterans" have a chance to get their names back in the hat.

Because, you know, it's all about the ratings.

Almost all the votes are tallied around noon Denver time. We almost never have a weekend vote. You can generally cast your vote at any time within the 24 hour period between rounds. So, if you can only check in, once per day, whether it be at noon or midnight or anywhere in between, you should have no problem.

As a tactical matter many people like to cast their vote at the last possible minute, but none of the votes will be revealed until the round is over.

(That's to prevent certain sneaky people from making up multiple entries at the last moment.)

The rules this year will be different than last time, or the time before, etc.

I will post them when the game starts.

I think I can assure you all in advance that they won't be too complicated. Or at least a lot less complicated than some of the games we've had in the past.

Now whether some of you develop complicated strategies as a result of all that is a whole 'nother matter. But I've made an effort this year to keep the rules themselves pretty simple, because I don't want to have to keep explaining them over and over.

I think I can ultimately handle about 34 if we somehow get that many (Two teams of 17) But two teams of 15 (30 total) would be ideal...

See the glorious part of this is I am 8 hours different...so most votes...noon deadline...is 8 pm here...thats perfect, we are on missions for the most part that won't effect this, I will just not have a huge part in the say. But the reason I was going to abstain was a series of FOB jumps, 3 of which would have put me without internet for more than 36 hours per jump. Sam is doing well. He had his hip surgery in early October, so no bike riding yet. Someday spring may come to my part of the country, and then we will give it a whirl. For now, I can tell you this. As usual, you must vote in each round. Votes, as usual, will be made by PM to me or to someone I designate for that round. You will be given one "mulligan" in this regard. That is to say that each one of you will be allowed to miss one vote somewhere in the first 6 rounds. But if you miss more than 1, you are out.

I will be more specific about this later on (in the oficial thread) but for the first 6 rounds (at least), you can only cast your elimination vote against a member of the opposing team.

To keep things interesting, the person who gets the most votes (on each team) will NOT be eliminated. In fact, they will get IMMUNITY from the next round's votes.

Instead, we will kill the runner up on each team.*

Because it sucks to come in second. Just ask the Patriots.

Just since I posted that, I have had to clear them out 37 more times.

I feel like Fred Flinstone on that episode where Mr. Slate fired him. He got a job where he had to keep picking up the phone and saying, "Whose baby is that;" "What's your angle;" and, "I'll buy that!" The phones just kept ringing and ringing, and he just had to pick them up and say one of those three things.
