Here's the link (http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=721828).
I'd be interested in this route rather than overpaying for Robertson or Rogers. I wouldn't want to trade our 2nd, but we could swap firsts and get Williams and a 4th. Then trade Foxy to Detroit for their 4th and a conditional 2009 pick.
We'd then have picks 29 and 43 on day one, Corey Williams at DT, and six picks in the 4th and 5th rounds to use to rebuild or move up into the 3rd.
Thoughts?

I'm not so sure GB would see much value in moving up to 12. Unfortunately the talent in this draft seems to be fairly even between #8-#30

No way.
I'm not parting with our chance to draft the next Terry Pierce just so we can bring in some guy with some proven experience in the NFL.
What's wrong with you people.

Id rather keep the 2nd and take our chances.

Funny, but you fail to account for the $6-7M per year more for the proven guy.

This is the first "trade" that I would really need to think about.
If we got Ryan Clady in the first and Corey Williams, that would be a big boot for both lines.
Hard to pass up.

This one I would try to work. See if there's anyway they would wan to move up in the draft+ a late round pick. Do it Shanny

I really don't like giving up the second pick. That leaves on first day pick for Denver. If they could get creative and put together a package of maybe a lower round pick and a pick next year and/or a player they need then I would love it.
But on the other hand I look at the success of Denver drafting in the early rounds and say to myself.... "Self they have a chance to get a proven commodity and not reach for some project. " needless to say myself is pretty torn.

We definitely need DT help. We need to bring in somebody, I am just not sure if Williams is the guy. He would be a huge upgrade over what we have though.

i think we need to get a DT in the draft and Free agency. i aggree with montroe in a aspect that we should not rely on FA but use it to add to steal the quote earlier "whipped cream" i will dissaggree though that we should draft one to two guys every year. that is excesive

I'd make this trade in a heartbeat.

Citing "sources," the Washington Post reports the Browns will acquire franchise player Corey Williams from the Packers at midnight tonight.
Green Bay is looking for a second-round pick in exchange for Williams. If this report proves true, Packers GM Ted Thompson will look brilliant. By franchising Williams and putting him on the block, Thompson will have nabbed a day one pick for a player he originally appeared all but certain to lose.

Wow... those Browns have made a lot of good moves lately. If only their TE of the future hadn't been a tard on a bike.

But wait he's a Soldier!
Pretty soon he's gonna be an f-in Robosoldier. He has surgery more often than I indulge in marital relations, I swear it...
Browns look to have the deal wrapped and ready to put under the tree.
I would hate to see Corey Williams in any other uniform than a GB or a blue and orange one next season. I wish we would step up to the plate on this one. The guy isn't a one hit wonder. He's going to be the focal point of some defense next year. He was the focal point for GB last season and look how far he carried them.
But wait he's a Soldier!
What a waste, trade for Corey Williams and put him in a 3-4 defense.

Oh, I forgot they had an offspring of the cheaters. All 3-4 DTs should be massive mountains that can just fall forward and get 2 people trying to push him backwards. Williams will definitely go to waste there in terms of stats and personal production. Cleveland will be better but Williams wont.

You starting a piggy-bank or something?
Should we cut Champ because he gets paid well?
Let me throw out a radical theory here... maybe you actually have to pay guys that play well?
Ahhh... what am I talking about. We've got John Engleberger and the "sure-fire" second round draft pick. I mean, we've turned at least two 2nd round picks in the last 14 years into something worthwhile. Those are pretty good odds.

It has been speculated by the Cleveland Plain Dealer that Corey Williams will play DE in Cleveland's 3-4 and that Shaun Smith will play the nose.
