Former Raiders QB Jeff George, 41, reportedly had "18 teams" visit him for a workout during the Scouting Combine.
This guy doesn't go away. It's hard to forget what Brad Childress said last year when asked if he might sign George: "Maybe (he'll) go to a fantasy camp or something like that." When asked if George was on the downside of his career, Childress replied "Downside would probably be - I think - kind." Feb. 27 - 11:48 pm et

Jeff George is an interesting case. Not many guys get blackballed from the NFL anymore, though, lord knows, a good 5% of the League deserves that treatment today.
There's no question he was one of the best 100 quarterbacks in the world over the last six years, and the League goes through that many every year.

I've read on a couple of occassions of different scouts/coaches talking about him and they said that the reason most don't want him on the roster as a back up is because he still throws the ball better than most teams starter and when that is the case it is only a matter of time before a locker room gets divided as to who should be starting.

Are CFL and Arena league teams allowed at the combines?

It's is interesting. I would love to hear the truth someday. Real examples of what this guy has done.
When DAmon Huard is a starting QB and George is not even in the league...
George must have really done some crazy ****.

No kidding...Turds like Huard, Cleo Lemon, Charlie Batch, Senaca Wallace, John Navarre, Jarred Lorenzen, JT O'Sullivan and Jim Sorgi all have jobs yet a guy with a cannon and knowledge of many different NFL offenses and former NFL passing leader hasn't been able to get a position for years despite making a serious effort.

$hit, I will even give you Jake Plummer.
Pacman will be back. The guy really should be in Jail and he will get a shot, What the hell did George do?

Naptown's explanation makes some sense, but it couldn't explain such a League wide snub.

Sure. They openly blacklist people. Exhibit B: Mike Vanderjadt. The guy was percentage-wise the most accurate kicker in the league when he was sent packing by Dallas.....and to my knowledge, he hasn't even seen an audition since.

VAnderjadt was crazy in public. Plus he shanked his way off the Cowboys.
As far as I remember George has not done anything in public.

Vanderjagt has had tryouts. The Saints brought him in during the season last year to light a fire under Mare's ass. He lost out to a Gramatica.
I think it was that no-hoper he uncorked against Pittsburgh in the playoffs that sealed his fate with a lot of teams.

I agree.....tough for him, though, considering he never got the second (and third) chance to be the hero that a certain kicker in NY got this past season. What a difference it made for him.
