The MA/Tatum combo in 2005 was the best running game we've had since TD (including Portis). Not only was it productive in terms of yardage, but the pounding of Anderson was instrumental in wearing defenses down late in the game as well as allowing Tatum to break a long run in what seemed to be every game.
It seems like Mike had no more than 10 carries in his entire Baltimore career, he could never get ahead of Musa Smith as the backup. It wouldn't surprise me if Kubes brings him into Houston if they don't resign the Dayne Train.

Bring him in as a FB. You never know what might happen.
I know age isn't on his side. But I hope the Old Marine lands somewhere and has one last good run.

You have a point. Anderson is better than Ron Dayne.

Bring him in to compete for a roster spot? Sure. But not as a FB! He's not a FB, Droughns wasn't a FB! Sapp wasn't a FB! Bell isn't a FB! For god sake Shanny just try, try, bringing in a real FB. They're not that expensive, I promise. If you bring one in and find that the superior blocking doesn't make up for the loss of the occasional 4 yard FB dive, put Bell in for all I care. Just please try to bring in a big time lead blocker, I'm begging you......

I agree and disagree... Mike Anderson was a FB for like 3 years in our System he would be a good pick up..but yea Shanny just needs to pick up a fast Full Back in the nfl draft

no thanks...
i'll always have a spot for MA but it's time for us to move forward, and turn the next chapter for this franchise...no need for recycling anymore...
MA was a warrior and i'd be open to signing him to allow him to retire as a bronco...
but MA is not the fullback we need...we need a true FB....

My love for MA is well documented, but they guy is old for a RB. I'm pretty torn on the idea of him coming back. On one hand i think he was the most effective back we've had since TD. On the other hand, he's old and if we are going to play with the HB position at all, I'd rather it be for a youthful guy.

was it 2005 when MA had that ridiculous stat of making a positive gain on every carry?

id love to have him back at a vet minimum.
He was a leader by example, and one of the few players who remembers some of the brighter times for the Denver Broncos (2005).
He would be a great locker room asset after the taint Simeon Rice inflicted upon the young ones.

it just seems from all ive heard that this team lacks true leaders.
Jay is still developing into that role, but the young guys need to see a guy like MA who, like Rod, made something from nothing.
I just want MA back. I was watching some of the 2005 game torrents and man he was a tough runner. He was a force on goaline situations.
He has barely put up any mileage in his short stay in Baltimore.

Wow?! I know Henry is prone to injury, but his upside is so much bigger (and even existent). I like Mike, but I don't thing there is much gas left in that tank.

Yeah because the Heisman is the great barometer. I would take Anderson over Dane myself. Lets look at past Heismans to prove that this is a poor judge of talent:
1986 Vinny Testaverde - Great Career
1987 Tim Brown - Great Career
1988 Barry Sanders - Don't have to explain
1989 Andre Ware - Mediocre
1990 Ty Detmer - Mediocre
1991 Desmond Howard - Mediocre
1992 Gino Torretta - Who?
1993 Charlie Ward - Bust, went to B-Ball
1994 Rashaan Salaam - Bust
1996 Danny Wuerffel - Bust
1997 Charles Woodson - Good career
1998 Ricky Williams -Was great but we know what happened
1999 Ron Dayne - Bust
2000 Chris Weinke - Bust
2001 Eric Crouch - Bust
2002 Carson Palmer - Good Pick
2003 Jason White - Bust
2004 Matt Leinart - Hasn't done much yet
2005 Reggie Bush - Leaning towards Bust
2006 Troy Smith - Bust
The Heisman is definitely not a good barometer.

This isn't college. And Anderson broke the NFL Rookie rushing record in 2001. You know the year he ran for 1,485 yards!! More than Dayne could ever dream of.

Ah but it won't. When the false positive occurred he was a mere weeks from being out of the NFL drug/alcohol program. Since he successfully one that fight he now has a clean slate. Meaning he gets popped once, nothing happens.

Did he really have that stat of not loosing a yard on a carry? seriously? Why hasn't anyone mentioned this?!
BTW...I agree with whoever said our best runnnig game aside from TD days was with Anderson/Bell in 05. My goodness we put up like way over 2,500 yards rushing! Loved that we had a goalline runner and Bell to have like 10 carries for over 100 in some games. Remember the Philly game! Oh man...where have you gone Todd Devoe? lol

Part of his winning the case was that he still had to spend a year in the program but nothing would happen with that one.

i have the torrent of that game.
Really fun game to watch, but the Broncos almost squander a 28 pt first half lead.
Todd Devoe was catching passes and dont forget Charlie Adams. He was making catches from the shotgun too.
But wow have we improved from the days of Jake the Snake. He had a major noodle arm and weird side arm motion when throwing from the pocket. If Jay had that 05 running game, we would have scored 60 pts.

MA will be 35 when the season starts.
He is older than Priest Holmes.
If we got decimated by injuries at RB in training camp, he might be worth bringing in, but the Broncos would be better served by going with youth at the backup RB positions.
