Ekuban to free agency.
Barring a last- minute change, the agent for Ebenezer Ekuban said the veteran defensive end will enter free agency on Friday.
"We're going to test free agency and see what happens," agent Drew Rosenhaus said. "We'll stay in touch with the Broncos."
It appears fullback Cecil Sapp also is headed for free agency. Several teams, including Kansas City and Miami, are interested in Sapp. The Broncos are headed toward giving safety Hamza Abdullah a restricted free-agency tender, with talks of a long-term deal subsiding.

Really sucks. Ekuban was actually one of the bright spots on our DL. I'm not sure how much more he can get in FA coming off that achilles injury. I hope he ends up with us in the end. Can't really blame him for trying to maximize his value though.

johnson was resigned for the bears game. he looked like he gained a few hundred pounds.
anyway, if you see a replay of the bears game look for the fat tub of goo opening huge lanes for Hester's two TD's
johnson was cut the next day

Well maybe this means we will actually bring in a true blocking FB instead of a RB convert. Most likely we will have Mike Bell back there though. I don't know why we released KJ last year, I thought he was a decent FB.
might miss Ekuban but i'm never really enjoyed the love affair with Cecil Sapp. WAY overated.

Khaaan! No not you kaylore. Neither of these guys were amazing, but they always gave a good effort, which unfortunately is turning into a rarity.

I'm not thrilled with Sapp leaving. He's a beast on special teams and a solid player. Ekuban...I can live with that. I'd rather see how Crowder (who I think will be the same player) Moss and Dumervil develop by giving them more time anyway.

Engelberger will be brought back before Ekuban whether we like it or not.

Lorenzo Neal is on the chopping block.
i know he is old but he is far better than anything we have fielded at FB since H.Griffith left.

That stinks.
Ek was the best player on the line. Lets hope the BBT makes something happen.

Hamza Abdullah is the big news not Ekuban IMO this means the broncos just thought Ekuban was to much of health issue if ture I am glad they got smart and did not throw away money on a player that may never play again .
Hamza Abdullah if some team signs him and Lynch opts some were ealse...can you say train wreck

Eb would've been an upgrade to Engelberger, but they find someone else they prefer in free agency or the draft. As per Sapp, love him as a backup and special teamer but I'm hopeful this means the end of the RB/FB hybrid.

They'll tag Hamza with the 2nd rd tender IMO so no-one will offer him a deal. $1.4m contract.

thats cause when he began his career with the Rams, Jerome Bettis was the man, so he had no other choice. he still had a lot of experience at FB by the time he got to Denver, unlike Cecil. We need to get an experienced FB, ie Lorenzo.

Griffith played primarily halfback for the Rams and Panthers if I recall correctly. I don't believe he actually "became" a fullback until we signed him.

I'll miss both guys a lot ... especially the Diesel.
Ekuban's attitude was and will be sorely missed ... the guy has a mean streak. I can't remember any Bronco other than Romo who incited more opposing player and fan skirmishes and shouting matches. We could use more guys like that ... on defense anyway.

He was the lead blocker for Anthony Johnson on the 1996 team that reached the NFC Title Game.
