they will probably just bash Shanahan and than incorrectly say how Cutler has not worked out.
ESPiN is so predictable

You know what that means, right? They'll use us as a foil to talk about other east coast teams.
How does Cutler match up to Eli or Big Ben, How does Marshall compare to TO and then they'll talk about TO the whole time. You'll probably see them mention how we almost signed Tony Romo and then he became a cowboy and then it'll be a cowboy suck fest. Maybe mention how Shanahan beats Belichik and then they'll talk about the Patriots most of the time. By the time they're done, they'll all have forgotten who they're talking about.

I bet you don't hear one thing about the O-Line and the only criticism on the D-Line will be the lack of pass rush. They'll spend more time bashing Shanahan, blaming Cutler and talking about our FA mistakes. They'll give some random praise to... maybe to Selvin Young and probably Ian Gold for all I know.
My hatred for ESPN is on par with my hatred for the Patriots. Funny how those things go hand in hand.

then McShay will say we need to draft a DE like Phillip Merling, when anyone who knowns anything about this team knows DT, LB, and OT are the most dire needs.
God if I hear another "analyst" say we need to draft Phillip Freaking Merling, im gonna loose it.

Or he may say we need to go RB in round 1 because of the uncertainty of Travis Henry's future (even though he's restructured and we have Selvin and Andre). That would be some classic ESPN.

So do I. He thinks he knows everything about football even though he was a back up QB his whole career. Plus he bashes Denver every chance he gets.

Its much easier if you don't watch ESPN. I quite watching it about a year ago and watch NFL network, Foxsports, and listen to the radio or read the papers. It has done wonders for my sports sanity.

yeah.... he bashes Cutler a lot too. when he really has no right to talk, because after all he is what you mentioned, a career back up QB.

He's a tool. I remember listening to ESPN Radio and Dan Patrick was asking for listeners to come up with rapper names for Sean. One emailer suggested "Notorious INT"...damn funny. But he got all pissy and asked how many NFL games had the emailer played in, blah, blah. What a jerk. He can make jokes about Clayton all the time, but can't take a joke about himself.

Eric Allen didn't mention the DL, he said the MLB position is our weakness. Trey Wingo interviewed Champ. Champ said the D has to play top 5 in order to make the playoffs, said that the Defense needs to do their part in order for Cutler to be better. Trey Wingo kept saying "allowed 400 points", over and over!
That's pretty much it, typical ESPN.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but could you imagine the meltdown around here if Gold actually said something like this? Taken on its own, without regard for context, it sure looks like a cheap shot at the offense.

I could see that. Especially when he mentions Cutler by name. I'll have to hear it myself before I say that's what it was.

Oh I watched the segment and it was predictably simple. Bailey did not rip on the offense. Here's how it actually went down:
Trey asked Champ about Cutler and he said "Cutler is a very tough player and during the season he was winning a lot of games for us late in the fourth quarter. The thing is, as a defense when we're giving up 400 points then we better be scoring 450. As a defense we need to do a better job of not putting all that pressure on him so he doesn't have to do that stuff every game."
Then he said the Broncos need to have an identity and need to get more consistent up front. He said once they have an identity they will have something to work towards but last season they didn't know who they were week to week. He said he believes it all starts up front and once we get better in the trenches on both sides of the ball then the Broncos will improve.
Trey then said "finish this sentence: The Denver Broncos will return to the post season next season if..." To which Bailey replied "We're a top five defense."

yup he also said they were beating good teams like the steelers but would lose to other teams that weren't good or something like that. And that he buys john lynch all the time about coming back and has agut feeling he will. And how john lynch's personality is different on the field then off, like how he would talk trash during the game but shake your hand after.

That was the other interview during sportscenter that someone just posted. The one I was referring to was the one he gave to Trey during NFL Live. The second interview was much better then the NFL live on.

While I agree with the particular case, you don't have to be better than someone to critique them. Science and art would go nowhere if that were true.

If Steve Young or Jaws had something negative to say about Jay, i would respect it because i respect their football intellect, particularly in regards to the QB position.
