The Minnesota Vikings have given wide receiver Troy Williamson the opportunity to shop himself in a trade, and there appears to be a lot of interest.
According to Williamson's agent, David Canter, 14 teams have been contacted, and eight have shown interest enough to reach out to the Vikings about a possible trade. Canter would like to have a trade agreed upon before Feb. 28, the start of the free agency period.
"He's property of the Minnesota Vikings right now and he's under contract," Vikings coach Brad Childress said. "We have spoken to his agent and he has the opportunity to go out [and seek a trade]."
Williamson was the seventh pick in the 2005 draft and went to Minnesota as part of the Randy Moss trade with the Oakland Raiders. He's had three receivers coaches and two head coaches in three seasons with the Vikings. He had 18 catches in 11 games last season.

I wonder what they are looking for? He's never lived up to the hype but he also never really had much for a QB. Not saying we are one of the teams that are looking at him but his speed would be nice to have next to Marshall.

We might as well just sign Watts if we're interested in this guy. We'll get the same results for alot cheaper price.

This is an insult to "The Claw". No one can drop passes like Troy. Troy is the Steve Sax of football. Here is a recent picture of the young man:

Of course the Vikings will let him seek a trade because he's just no damn good.
He's the poster boy for everyone who drools over combine results without considering whether the fool can actually play football.
14 teams interested?
My Gawd. The dumpster diving by GMs is out of control.

I believe 14 teams were contacted, 8 said to be interested in Williamson. Still a lot of interest for a WR who has a serious case of the dropsies.

He is interesting. The man can get open. Drops are just a mental thing. Maybe a change of scenary will do him good.
What was he like in college?

The 8 teams that were interested inquired if he can be had for a 7th round pick or the back up punter.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY!!
I watch this guy every week and he is hopeless...absolutely terrible. He has no shred of confidence left anymore, as he shouldn't. He is awful.

2 questions...
1. Can you trade a player for himself?
2. Would they take Ian Gold?
If so here is my proposal:
Vikes send Troy Williamson and 5th round draft pick
Broncos send Ian Gold and player to be named later...aka Troy Williamson

So what's worse than drafting a WR that cant catch #7 overall in the NFL draft? Losing your job, then trading for the guy to come to your new team. Good going Mike Tyce...
(Initially seen on PFT)
Williamson expected to be dealt to the Jaguars
The Vikings have agreed in principle on a deal that would send receiver Troy Williamson to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a second-day pick, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Haha...as funny as that sounds, it has happened before in baseball. I wish I could remember what it was. I know he was a relief pitcher and he was dealt in a package that included his team getting a player-to-be-named-later, only to find out two days later that he was that player, which sent him back to his original team.
EDIT: Found this -

Why would the Jags do this deal? I know they were looking at Coles which would've been good for them but Williamson does nothing for them I think.

Even if the Jags trade for Williamson I think they'll still go after Coles or another proven receiver.
From a risk-reward standpoint, it's definitely low risk (6th or 7th round pick?) and could pay huge dividends if a change of scenery is all Williamson needs.

Wow a 6th for Williamson. I know he can't catch but I'm surprised they couldn't get more than that. Almost think denver could have given that and not worried what happened. Cutler deep to Williamson for the drop would have been super entertaining.

Yeah, it's not the league minimum but he's not breaking the bank as well.
Who knows, maybe his contract will be re-worked if a trade goes through?

it looks like the guy is not good at over the shoulder thows when running away from the ball so what throw the ball at him like his college QB did and make minny wish they had a clue from the tapes I vewed the kid loses the ball on only one type of throw .

I don't know for sure, but I'm going to speculate that the Vikings coaching staff tried about everything in their power to make Troy Williamson successful. I bet they even took the esoteric step of looking at tapes from his college days.
This guy missed nine days in the middle of the season because his grandmother died. Is that the guy you want to go into battle with? I don't think so. But hey, you're the one who "vewed" the tapes. Who am I to say.
