If Johnson isn't traded, the Redskins could turn their attention to Javon Walker, who, like Johnson, wants to be traded. Yet, unlike Cincinnati, Denver wants to accommodate Walker with a trade.

Walker to Washington?

Believe the reports that the Redskins are going to try to pry receiver Chad Johnson from Cincinnati. Johnson has been vocal about his desire to be dealt but Bengals coach Marvin Lewis recently said the Pro Bowl player will not be traded.

Washington and Denver have been willing trading partners in the past and could easily make a deal. If not Walker, Washington could pursue Oakland's Jerry Porter.

I am on the "We cut Javon" and get nothing for his useless azz bandwagon. I just do not see us keeping him, nor will anyone trade for him. I hope I am wrong, but I have a feeling about it.

Some good stuff from the thread over at ExtremeSkins about Walker...

I can't believe anyone would suggest we trade with Denver. As several posters have said, we always get screwed by Denver when it comes to trades. Let me put it this way, you know how we always screw the Jets with trades. We are Denvers version of the Jets. No thanks!

hell no! mostly based on our trade partner, Denver always kicks our ass in trades. No Thank you. Let's get younger bring in hackett, cheaper younger and was amazing in the west coast offense. Don't care if he got injured, he was fine when he scored the td to take the lead on us in the playoffs

Wait and see what Denver does. Don't like trading with them. They ripped us off enough in the past.

Funny how some skins fans want him and state that getting a true #1 receiver is worth only a 5th round pick. :spit:

Ohhh boy this quote is funny:

His character is an instant red flag. Chad Johnson is much better than this guy, and hasn't left one team in his past, and on his way to two.

Only johnson has character issues and is on his way to his 2nd team (what's the difference skin fan?)

Another interesting thing I saw on ExtremeSkins was that Detroit wants a
2nd rounder (and would accept a future 2nd too) for Roy Williams.

I hate articles like this. This is just pure speculation on the writers part because Wash. wants a wr and Walker wants to be traded. He says they could turn their attention to Walker, so in other words he really has no idea if they want him or not.

If we can get a 3rd rounder somehow for Javon that would be great. That would soften the loss of the 2nd rounder for him.

The idea that, because you got the short end of the stick in an earlier trade you will necessarily lose again, is a fundamentally flawed piece of logic, Redskins Fan.

Bailey, Lelie/Duckett, Bly and was there a draft pick trade as well???

Sources said that Mike Shanahan of the Denver Broncos took a dump this morning.
Should we want the turds he left behind? Word is they were well formed and fairly solid. Maybe vet minimum with incentives?

Seems we ask about every POS that every team cuts, may as well be completely thorough.

OK, so I've had my fun. You may now delete the post.

The story hit fan house...

Link (http://sports.aol.com/fanhouse/2008/02/24/one-way-or-the-other-the-redskins-hope-to-land-a-big-named-wide/)

Here's Vinny Cerrato, the Redskins' new Vice President of Football Operations, yesterday:

The price of what these guys are going to be paid is astronomical," he said. "I don't foresee us being a big player in free agency. I don't think [team owner] Dan [Snyder's] plane is going to be fired up and ready to go. I think it's going to be a relatively quiet start of free agency for us."

Here's the headline in today's Denver Post: "Javon Walker to Washington?"

Walker, the current Broncos wide receiver, is coming off an injury-plagued 2007 season, and the $5.4 million he's due in a few weeks will likely seal his fate in Denver. But he's still an athletic, big, downfield target, and shouldn't have any trouble finding work. Especially if the Redskins truly are interested.

Believe the reports that the Redskins are going to try to pry receiver Chad Johnson from Cincinnati.... If Johnson isn't traded, the Redskins could turn their attention to Javon Walker, who, like Johnson, wants to be traded. Yet, unlike Cincinnati, Denver wants to accommodate Walker with a trade.

Washington and Denver have been willing trading partners in the past and could easily make a deal. If not Walker, Washington could pursue Oakland's Jerry Porter.

Given that Washington gave up Champ Bailey and a second-round pick for Clinton Portis, I'm guessing Denver is eager to work with the 'Skins again. And for Cerrato's claim that things will be slow in free agency for the team, well, it's all relative.

Oh, and concerning the Jerry Porter rumors, here's what the Oakland Tribune's Jerry McDonald wrote last week on the Raiders wideout:

According to one personnel man, ... Porter, scheduled for free agency after voiding the final year of his contract, may not get the big payday he desires.

"Can't run," he said."

One way or the other, it sounds like Washington will be getting a big-named wideout this off-season.

apparently if the skins are interested then so are the Cowboys

per PFT.. believe it or not PFT is right 90% of the time

'BOYS EYEING JAVON?
http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm

So Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants to put some "wow" into the offense? One possibility we're hearing about is by acquiring receiver Javon Walker from the Broncos. A league source tells us that the Cowboys are working on a deal that would bring Walker to Big D. The problem, however, is Walker's knee. He tore an ACL during the first game of the 2005 regular-season, and he missed plenty of time in 2007, his second year in Denver, due to lingering problems with it. There's a chance, said the source, that Walker wouldn't pass a physical. If Walker were to land in Dallas (http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm#) however, things could get interesting. Said the source: "Can you picture [Terrell] Owens' reaction? Walker has pissed people off in Green Bay and Denver because he wants the ball so much. They are supposedly friends so I'm sure they think it could work but it would be fun to watch." Owens and Walker made plenty of headlines three years ago in their efforts to get new contracts. Both threatened to hold out and, in the end, both caved. Walker was traded to Denver in April 2006, and received the new contract he craved. After a solid first season with the Broncos, the team picked up an option for 2007. In hindsight, it's yet another poor decision from Denver's de facto G.M.

If the rumors are true and the Bucs, Redskins, Cowboys, and Eagles are all interested, Walker won't be hitting the FA market unless his knee is completely ruined. There will be too much competition to sign him (especially amongst the NFC East rivals) and someone will pull the trigger on a trade. I still don't think we'll break the bank, but a late 4th or Walker and a 5th for late 3rd wouldn't be bad return, all things considered. I also wouldn't mind a late rounder this year (maybe adding the 6th we don't have now) and a conditional pick next year that ranges from a 5th to, say, a 3rd.
