GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. — Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Vance Johnson has surrendered to Rifle police after allegedly failing to appear for a court hearing in a bad-check case.
Johnson was accused of writing two bad checks in Larimer County in 2001. He was supposed to appear at a related hearing February 8th, but Garfield County jail records indicate a warrant for his arrest was issued when he didn't show.
Johnson was booked into the jail at 5:41 p.m. Wednesday, and released 17 minutes later after posting a $7,500 bond.
Johnson played for Denver in the 1980s and 90s.
He now owns and operates a Parachute restaurant.

The Vance missed a court date in 2008 for two bad checks he passed in 2001? I would have forgotten, too. Especially if I was busy running my Parachute restaurant.

Usually people get a notice from the court or your attorney makes sure you know when your hearing is.

Legal troubles continue for former Denver Broncos wide receiver Vance Johnson, who surrendered to Rifle police Tuesday because a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
Johnson missed a court date Feb. 8. in Larimer County in conjunction with a 2001 case in which he has been accused of writing two bad checks. After not appearing at that court hearing, the failure to appear warrant for his arrest was issued, Garfield County Jail records said.
After surrendering to Rifle authorities, Johnson was booked into the jail at 5:41 p.m. He posted a $7,500 bond and was released at 5:58 p.m., according to jail records.
He has a court date for the arrest warrant scheduled for March 11.
Johnson played for the Broncos from 1985 to 1993 and returned to the team in 1995. He racked up 415 catches during that time but most notably was one-third of the “Three Amigos,” the group of prolific Broncos receivers that included Mark Jackson and Ricky Nattiel.
Johnson is owner and operator of the VJ’s Outlaw Ribbs restaurant in Parachute.
