My daughter called me at about 7:30 and she asked if I felt that. I hadn't felt anything but I hear they felt it as far away as Idaho. 6.3 is considerable. Located by Wells, Nevada.

I'm near Ogden, Utah (about 30 miles north of SLC and a couple hundred miles, if that, from Elko) and didn't feel a thing. Of course at 6:16 am I was sawing logs.

Sounds like a good place to store nuclear waste. :oyvey:

They felt it in Boise but I'm an hour or so west of Boise and I didn't feel it.

Living in California, I just have to laugh at this.

The vast majority of the population of Utah sits right along the Wasatch Fault which runs through the mountains to the east of SLC. All the eggheads say the fault is overdue for a shift and if it does let loose, it could be bad.

In spite of that info, most people DO NOT carry any kind of insurance coverage for earthquake and it will be a disaster of epic proportions if a big one ever hits here. EQs just aren't in our frame of reference because the ones we do get are small and in out of the way places.

Well, a 6.3 CAN do some damage depending on duration, proximity and style of quake...but yeah Californians are going to be a bit blase about earthquakes.

Probably mini-nuke testing...so I've been told by Mghaffney...

I wish this "Big One" would hurry up and come so people can stop talking about it. We haven't had a big one since '94 I believe. That was a really big one. But it didn't do a whole lot of damage. Buildings are earthquake proof now a days.
