I was a huge fan of the first show. It was one of the highlights of my youth. That and the A-team both were first rate. Anyway I am watching some TV as I bounced the new baby to sleep. Knight Rider comes on the new version. I was like all right. with in the first 5 minutes one character who I am assuming will probably be the new David Hasselhoff is in bed with 2 beautiful girls. The very next scene shows a really surfer girl washing off not one of the girls in the bedroom. (Lots of up and down pans) She then walks into her bedroom where their lays another good looking girl.

That girl goes "Are you going to leave a woman you just meet last night alone in your house?"

Surfer Girl/Cop Jacks a shell in here 9mm "I am not worried"

This is where the classic knight Rider show has gone? Cmon that writers strike must have been really tough. They even changed kits voice. IMO they need to take this crap off the air and apologize.

Thats TV today. I'm only 25 and I long for the days of MacGyver, Incredible Hulk and the A-Team. When I tell people that TV pretty much sucks today, they tell me that I sound like a disgruntled old man. It is the truth however. This MTV generation with their "Sweet 16" shows where little bi***es get more money spent on a single birthday than I'll likely earn in 10 years of hard work. It's simply disgusting. Then you have reality TV shows that networks love because they bring in alot of viewers and what does it really cost them to produce this trash. Not much, they don't have to pay the "Stars" of these shows. It also keeps them from coming out with any original ideas. The sad thing is that TV and Movies stink, I can't tell you how psyched I am about the new Indiana Jones movie, simply because it is a Lucas/Spielberg production. However I do wish Stallone would give it a rest already, Rocky 5 sucked so we surely didn't need to be punished with Rocky Balboa and does anybody really want to go see the new Rambo movie, let it go already. Rant over.

I'll have to go see it then, but it's just hard to buy it anymore. I mean I can't imagine my grandpa casting his diaper aside and picking up a semi automatic weapon and dusting off some commies. But I'll take your advice and rent it once it comes out on video.

I liked those shows (Knight Rider, Air Wolf, A-Team, McGuyver, Dukes of Hazard) too...when I was seven years old. You watch them now and they're campy and cliche'. TV really has improved. And for those who say "but (fill in show) sucks today!" Well they had crappy shows that got canceled all the time back then as well. We only remember the good ones and half of the ones I remember from youth that were good were only good because I was a child. There are way more channels and shows than there used to be and while that does mean a proportionately greater amount of crap on the TV, there is also some good entertainment to be had.

Of course this from the guy who said he longed for: MacGyver, Incredible Hulk and the A-Team......those were pretty far-fetched as well.

Besides...you said you are stoked for Indiana Jones...Harrison Ford is 65. Stallone is 61.

I know that those shows were far fetched, but overall I just think that you had better writing and acting. Today, I think that movies rely way too much off of special effects. And why do you think that so many of the old shows and movies are being reproduced, because Hollywood has run out of ideas. As far as Indiana Jones and Rambo I just don't view them the same. I'm not saying the Indiana Jones doesn't have to be in shape, but I don't look at an adventurous archeologist the same as I do a gun toting ex marine. I don't know if Indiana Jones can't be played by an older character, where I envision Rambo as a much younger man. Also, you get to see much more of Stallones age and the effects of HGH than you see wear and tear on Ford.

Yeah, you watch them and find cheesy elements in them. Especially the dukes of hazard, I watch it today and really don't know why I liked it so much then. You do have more choices today that is for sure and I'm not saying there isn't good entertainment out there, but I just get really tired of reality programming that kids are exposed to. As I also pointed out earlier, some of the acting is just down right terrible and it seemingly has been replaced with action packed gun fights, car chases (For my money Bullet still has the best chase seen ever. Vanishing Point a close 2nd.) and explosions. When I was younger I loved Dirty Harry primarily because of the violence, but today I like it because Eastwood is an iconic hollywood figure. He's an amazing actor, writer and director. Name one action star today that reminds you of Eastwood. I can't think of any. I don't know why, but even as a young person, I'm drawn to old westerns with John Wayne and old horror films directed by Hitchcock much more so than I am many films that are produced today. Maybe it's nostalgia.

I always wanted that Car and used to think that Brigette Nielsen was hot. She is far from it today. Favorite part of that movie is when he walks up to one of those guys outside his apartment and yells, "Clean up your act." while tearing his shirt off. Makes me laugh every time.

After re reading your post, I'm a moron. I thought you were talking about Cobra with Syvester Stallone. Now I see you were talking about Night Rider. I ate too many paint chips as a kid.

Actually when it comes to films then I agree with you. I think when they censored the writers back in the "old days" it forced them to be more creative about conveying what they wanted to say and that made for better quality. Also I think the culture and style of of the forties and fifties allowed for that style to become popular. There are some great movies that are made today, but nothing beats the classics.

I just saw the Rambo today and besides it seeming like only an hour or so long, it was actually pretty good. I knew Stallone was getting old but I'd have never guessed he was 60 already. He could've probably passed for 45 in Rambo... still within reason.

I'm in with everyone else on old tv shows... once upon a time they were good but when you try to watch em now... they just don't hold up. However, I've also abandoned TV nowadays because it's mostly filled with crap. Give me my American Gladiators, sports at the gym, and my computer or a book in the rest of the time. I'm not going to browse 300 channels to find the best 3rd rate program.

I'd be willing to put money on it that my TV sees more Doodlebops or Backyardigans than network programming these days.

EDIT: By the way, that's for my kid. I don't watch those shows, I promise... well, much.

I was really amazed at a few of the scenes of executing children. There was a single scene in tears of the sun where a kid was killed but it was to emphasize the use of children soldiers... but this movie there was a lot of violence against children and usually that's not put in for simple drama, most movies seem to shy away from that. Many blood mists after a mine or mortar attack as well, very gruesome.

I watched it tonight (DVR = no commercials = me being able to handle actually watching some TV). Anyways, it was cheesy, corny with bad acting and a lot of car chases.... just like the original! I don't know if I'll watch it again, but you had to know going in that it wasn't going to be Shakespeare. It's mindless escapism. I remember being a kid and watching the original (and the A-Team, MacGyver, etc), but if you try watching those same shows today it is totally different.

If you go into it thinking you're getting some amazing, ground-breaking show then you'll probably be disappointed. If you just want to see some action and a lot of car chases you're going to enjoy it.

The New Knight Rider was disappointing, just as the Chronicles of Sara Conner on Fox, it was a good idea that went south fast.

Basically character development was thrown at the wall and hoped to stick. It doesn't. Lesbo FBI agent, threesomes, Ford emblems thrown in your face all combined with a story about a weapons defense system, some guy that built KITT, back in the day, and the love child of Michael Knight!

Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT is just sad.

They should have shown the transition from Pontiac Trans Am KITT into Mustang KITT.

Still having KITT be a mustang was wrong, but with Pontiac in decline now it makes sense to have a more popular muscle car as the lead.

Maybe they should have just remade the original series story line of Michael long becoming Knight and working with Devin and FLAG. If your going to try and rehash an idea maybe you should stick with it's core story.

I bet David hassellhoff was pissed that they thought he wasnt sexy enough to play the lead role. I could picture him some bad guys breaking in and Michael (david h.) is on the ground eating up his lunch trying to act "drunk" then he stands up, flashes his mighty chest hairs and then bust out some crappy, nostalgic pop song from the 70s to get the evil, bad guys to drop their weapons and run. You know Jens was pissed they didnt use "Mr German" Hasselhoff.

did you see "rocky balboa".

if not, i would suggest that you do.
it was an absolutely wonderful movie, and IMHO was like a bookend with the original, which lest we all forget won best picture.
yes, rocky V didnt live up to expectations (even by the standards of the most ardent rocky fans), but this last film met and exceeded every expectation i had for it.
it had all the emotion and power of the original AND had arguably the best (and hands down most realistic) boxing sequences of all the films.

i give it an A+ and would STRONGLY encourage anyone who enjoyed the 1st film (but fell off the bandwagon with the later installments) to give it a go.
you wont regret it.

I always get a kick reading 20 and 30 something year old men complain about the latest remake, as though they are the target market for these shows.

I liked Knight Rider when I was 10. I'd be willing to bet dollars to draughts that if I sat a 10 year old in front of the Knight Rider remake they would 1) find it just as fascinating as I found the show at that age, and 2) not know who Val Kilmer is or even have an opinion on whether or not he is a good enough voice actor to play Kitt's voice.

I watched the 1st half, haven't had a chance to watch the 2nd yet on DVR. The Mustang KITT was awesome but the voice came across as too impersonal (I know it's a computer but the old KITT's voice had some personality and inflection). I missed the swoosh-sound of the lights moving back in forth, and they needed to bring back the old theme music. For a while, I had trouble trying to identify who was playing the Michael Knight role because for the better part of the first half, it was just that girl and the car. Then again, what can you expect of a remake?

rugby, if you had made it past the first 10 minutes, I'm pretty sure you would have realized that a) it's not suggestive and b) it still captures the fun of the original series. They sadly didn't have the new KITT jumping, but there was enough other cool stuff to make you want to be a vigilante in a computerized super-car.

The only suggestive stuff was Michael having two girls in his bed in his intro. scene and, if you consider a lesbian as "suggestive", the intro scene for Poiter's character (female, black FBI agent). Everything else was normal TV fun.
