Looking to see what the flavors are out there for working out music.

I'm all over the place but always looking for some new music that gets me in the mood to push it in the weight room.

Oh, for those that are thinking about it or have the space and haven't yet considered it... Bowflex Ultimate 2 is AWESOME! Results in about 3 weeks now. It takes up a good little space, but to have my own treadmil and gym in my basement saves me gobs of time and money. I don't use the treadmil much myself, but the wife does everyday. I use the hell out of that Bowflex though. I was in S. Padre last week and actually missed working out. I haven't been that way since High School! Anyhow, if you're thinking about a Bowflex, I'd recommend it to anyone. I'm very impressed thus far.

Back to the thread topic. What do you all have in your "ipod" or Mp3 players that really gets you pumped to get pumped? I'll download the songs today!!!

If your looking for new songs... check out the celebrity playlists on iTunes. They also have a workout songs section. I just listen to the little preview and write down the songs I like, then download on Limewire.

I'm all over the board on songs that get me fired up during a workout. I guess a couple bands that come to mind are, Pantera and Unwritten Law.

I bought those Select Tech Bowflex weights with the bench for the days when i'm too lazy to go to the gym. Pretty good product actually. :strong:

I found a couple good ones... there was a song I heard the other night that I used to love to workout to, can't remember it now though. Doesn't that always happen!

Anyhow, Pantera, Metallica, Snap, Eminem, Papa Roach, Rocky soundtracks, Rage against the Machine, Godsmack, and Limp Bizkit are all a few that do me some good... but over time (except for Metallica) the same old tunes get old!

No Tool?

Tool is in my top 3 band of all time, but it doesn't really cut for me at a workout. Too many highs and lows in the songs for me to focus.

I know this will probably sound strange and all but silence always worked better for me than to have any music playing when weight lifting.

Oddly enough, I like music that spurs me to thought when I work out so that I can let my body and my mind do work together...

I like:
Philip Glass on solo piano
Peter Gabriel
Paul Simon
Radiohead
Pixies
Igor Stravinsky
etc

It appears in this thread you can tell a lot about a person by what they choose to listen to when doing something like working out. I of course have my own personal preferance and I can at least relate to what some of you choose to listen too, but it also blows my mind what some of you like to listen to when working out. It makes me wonder if you're that douche that talks on the cellphone while running on the treadmill.

When I need to get fired up while lifting, my iPod is dialed in to Aenema, by Tool. When they go on the F-bomb tirades, I am about ready to throw the dumb bells through the mirror at the gym. :redpunch:

I usually try to listen to something a little mid-range when warming up or cooling down to get the mental part going.

You cant tell very much at all about a person by what they listen to when they work out. If your thing is using music to provide you with the energy to work out, then thats your thing. Personally, I dont need some crap butt-rock garbage to excite me to performance. I would rather work out with an old prospector personal trainer who jabs me in the neck with a hot iron than subject myself to listening to "Big Gun" by ACDC for the motivation to work out.
