View Full Version : A good tactic for McCain?
Plenty of talk about McCain needing to get the conservative vote on board, by bringing Thompson on, or someone of that clothe. I wonder if he might try the stragegy of leaning to the left, play the moderate card to the hilt, and inform the puplic, that dispite pretty, well-spoken poetry Obama is an empty suit.
McCain may argue that "I'm the guy that represents America -- Not the Move on crowd." It may simply be that what ever McCain does he will not win over hard-line conservatives, so if he believes he can get more votes, why wouldnt he do it? Likewise, Obama will have to get someone to his "right" (that would be just about anyone) but also someone with the experince to put folks at ease.

Would the electorate be dumb enough to fall for that same rhetoric again?

Obama's response could be something along these lines:
If you look at all the polls and note the percentage of Americans who believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, then the "move on crowd" probably comes closer to representing "America" than the demographic Bob has in mind here.

How do you account for the fact that congress has lower approval ratings than even Bush?

McCain's problem (besides the fact that he's nuts) will be that a whole lot of Romney and Huckabee supporters will not come out for him. At the caucus last week the Romney supporters I talked to absolutely despised McCain. I just don't see them coming out to support him, no matter what.
The other thing is, I noticed today that Obama has started talking about "Bush and McCain's war in Iraq." Smart move. All Obama needs to do for the next 9 months is keep repeating, Bush/McCain, Bush/McCain, until it sinks in.

Considering Gays, Guns, and God has worked for a few decades... nothing would suprise me.
LA, Statistically, I doubt it...
Minority ideologues always feel like they are in the majority ... see Ron Paul’s clan. I am not under the illusion that I am “mainstream” although I fall closer to center, than you and the "Move-on" folks you idolize – remember where you fell in relation to Stalin and embrace it.
Obama, is getting a ton of traction from those who trust him, and like "the idea" of him, but don’t really know what the hell he believes, but simply hate Hilary and the Bush/Clinton machine.

I think you are right -- some will comprimise (I think the majority of conservatives will) but that will not be enough....
Its not about teaching a lesson to R's -- it is about seeing what Bush did in over-spending and opening the border -- If more of the same poison "is the cure" for the US I cant not support it. Its like voting for Bush for a Third term -- except that McCain will blend the parties more so that we all have less choice.
I can only hope that a heavy dose of Obama, wont sufficate us but rather create a contrast of ideas so that we will want a government that leaves the people alone to govern themselves, with lower taxes, and less spending.

Because Congress is just as out of touch with the American people as Dim Son.
But I see what you are trying to do here, i.e., link the Democrats in Congress with moveon. That's where your argument fails.

I think you're confused here. (Either that, or you have trouble with simple arithmetic.)
If you belong to the majority who believe America is headed in the wrong direction (as polls indicate) then you are not a "minority" when it comes to that sort of thinking.
remember where you fell in relation to Stalin and embrace it.
Either you have a really poor memory or you are just pulling falsehoods out of your ass again.
My score placed me in the same quadrant as the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandella - not Stalin.
It sounds like you are trying to make W*GS' straw man arguments work for you.

My score:

From the website:
Both an economic dimension and a social dimension are important factors for a proper political analysis. By adding the social dimension you can show that Stalin was an authoritarian leftist (ie the state is more important than the individual) and that Gandhi, believing in the supreme value of each individual, is a liberal leftist. While the former involves state-imposed arbitary collectivism in the extreme top left, on the extreme bottom left is voluntary collectivism at regional level, with no state involved.

Thought these words have been banned, or is Ghandi demonstrating civil disobediance?

In Wiggsy's mind, Ghandi is no different than Stalin. It's a mixed up world, but somebody has to live there.

I almost threw up last night watching the McCain presser. All I heard was "I'm a real conservative. Please believe me."
Lost whatever respect I had for him because of his military service.
Sad sight indeed.

Obama only needs one campaign commercial in the general election. Just show one picture for thirty seconds and say nothing:

Ha!
Well, at least he still has approximately 1/3 of Americans to keep him company.
