Since when is "All You Need Is Love" a rock anthem?:spit:

It's a decent song, but it doesn't deserve to be anywhere NEAR the top of a "rock anthem" list.

"RESPECT" should be much higher on the list. I'm positive that it helped many women boost their self-esteem in a "man's world".

half of those songs shouldn't even be considered ROCK

It's the same old usual fare....not bad by any means, just more than predictable.

That said, no Doors means no dice in this quarter...I'd Take "Break On Through" over anything on the list here....but who am I to say? Hell "Radio Ga Ga" is on the list and everybody knows that's a helluva an "anthem" Hilarious!

Definition: Rock Anthem
A rock anthem is a powerful, celebratory rock song with arena-rock sound often with lyrics celebrating rock music itself and simple sing-a-long ...

The "Arena Rock" sound would disqualify bands like the Doors, Metallic etc.

SONGS THAT YOU CAN SING TOO!!

Feel The Shake by Jetboy should be on there. Also Plowed by Sponge and I can't believe not a single Cult song made it.

Where the heck is Hells Bells?

That's an excellent point. People sing along to Hells Bells all the time. We need to replace Tom Petty's "Refugee" with "Hells Bells"...

64. God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You II - KISS

A horrifically embarrassing song.

To think it's one notch ahead of the Stones "Satisfaction"?? Oh my...............

Crediting Slade and not Quiet Riot for the anthemic "Cum On Feel the Noise" is silly too. Quite Riot made it the undeniable smash it was, and that is the version played in stadiums.

How Welcome to the Jungle is not top 5 is strange? Number 67??

Living After Midnight and Sweet Emotion need to be on here somewhere. Maybe Rock the Casbah too??

They had Wang Chung's "to Live and Die in LA" on in the Bathroom, I think the DirectTV music is set to the 1984 channel.

Anyway where is "Every body have fun tonight, Everybody Wang Chung tonight" on this list?

Actually, it's not too cool to be classified as arena rock in the great scheme of things, so disqualifying The Doors and Metalica is something I guess I should be thankful for.

Exactly!!! Being classified as an Anthem Rock song is not a compliment in some circles.

It's not considered serious music. Catchy beats, easy to sing that kind of thing.

The word 'rock' in this top 100 is very debatable.

Its a crime Metallica dont even have one song listed

Oh, I thought it meant songs that were pillars upon which later music was built. Nevermind. ;D

I am really digging Edith Piaf since seeing the La Vie Enrose movie.

"Padam, Padam,...Padam" is Awesome and my 5 year almost has it memorized, it is in french BTW. BTW we don't speak french.

BTW Sous le Ciel de Paris is as great as any Beatle tune though not an Anthem per se.

BTW what is French for BTW?
