View Full Version : The Miami Dolphins today terminated the contracts of:
Marty Booker,
Trent Green,
L.J. Shelton
---------
With Javon on the outs, it may be a good idea to pickup Booker for the number 2 spot.
Any value in L.J. Shelton? Reserve?

Trent Green, what a ridiculous signing that was.

We can do better than Booker at WR. I'd rather take our chances with Martinez than pick him up, but am really hoping for Rod to come back. Andre Davis form the Texans is a FA this year and he already has experience in "our" system. He filled in well when Johnson was injured and would give us a return man.

so what you're saying is that Rod Smith and Glen Martinez are better than Marty Booker?
IMO, Marty Booker would be nice addition
I love Rod. He's been the face of this franchise since 7.
But that hip can't take anymore, I hate to see it end like this but it looks like he will retire.
Glenn Martinez while a nice fill in and return man, isn't a solid #2.
Booker can be that vet that knows his role and get take the pressure off of B-Marsh. Leaving Stokley the slot spot and 3rd down guy.
Broncos can also draft a wideout of teh future in later rounds and let the kid learn behind Booker.

I'm with you on sympathy for Rod Smith but I'd be concerned if we used a roster spot for him. I think we're all holding on to those great memories of the SB teams but it's time to move on to the next generation. With our revolving door of DCs we need to string at least a season or two together/beef up the lines.
I suppose you are looking at Rod for his leadership but I'd rather see him helping the team with a clip board personally.

I like Booker, but I think the Broncos need a WR who better compliments Marshall. A guy who can stretch the field would be great.

Booker's not bad, I just think we can do better. I watched him every week during the years he spent on the Bears - he never impressed me. I'd rather just take our chances elsewhere.
Martinez isn't better than Booker right now, but he's got heart and I'd rather give him a shot rather than spending $$ for Booker. The money will be better spent on defense or the OL.
Booker made $3.7 M last year. He's not worth it. Andre Davis made $800k and Martinez made $300k, last year.
Rod Smith costs us $1.5 M last year. Hell Brandon Marshall was only a $366k hit on the cap last year!
There's no way we spend $3M for Booker.

We have a growing, bright QB and he needs a wideout. I wish Javon can stay healthy and stick around but if he isnt going to stay in 08, then we need more than Marshall and Stokely. Not too many wideouts picked in the 4th round or later start their development to starter right out of the box.

That's what I like about Andre Davis. He's not going to be the next Anthony Miller, but he's fast. He had two TD returns against Jax last year. Looking at it again, I'm not sure he'd be that solid at #2.
Kevin Walter's not bad (also from Houston), but he'd be more of a McCaffrey type, IMO. Plus, he's not a free agent. He put together a nice string @Jax, v. Tenn, and @ SD last year when filling in for Andre Johnson.
What about Patrick Crayton? He's a free agent this year. Of the FA's this year, I think he and Randy Moss would be our best bet for a speed guy with hands. Though, I don't see us getting Moss.

Shanny's way ahead of you my friend! Have you forgotten about one Marquay McDaniel??
You heard it here first ;)

I'd be all for signing Ashley because we need a deep threat #2, Brandon does everything else. However, Ashley probably still thinks he can find better elsewhere....dumbass

Dude Rod is done...we need a speedy type of WR that can get down field..who knows what we'll do thats what makes the off season so interesting!!

ive been saying it for awhile now...
Earl Bennett would be the perfect replacement for Javon. Plus he and Jay already have chemistry as a QB/WR.

I'm thinkin more Joe Toledo than anyone on that list. Athletic tackle prospect...former TE...you get the drift.

Yeah. He's too old. I'd rather go with a young guy that can return kicks than another veteran. Stokely can handle being our veteran at receiver just fine. Let's shop elsewhere.

Per my buddy, a dolphins fan, Marty Booker sucks and wouldent be a #4 WR on our roster.
