Yeah, Obama and Hillary voted yes on it too. Maybe both of them, being
parents, they have more of a vested intestest in keeping children alive
than the kind of gun nut that would refuse to put a gun lock on his substitute
penis because it violates his "rights."

I'm sorely tempted. At least with McCain you know what you are getting.
Obama is just another Jimmy Carter waiting to happen that is going to
set the Democrats back another 12 years. If McCain wins maybe
the Democrats will come to their senses and nominate a real candidate
in 2012 instead of a media creation pretty face.

You have no clue what you are talking about.

S.397 Firearms Manufacturers Protection bill
A bill to prohibit civil liability actions from being brought or continued against manufacturers, distributors, dealers, or importers of firearms or ammunition for damages, injunctive or other relief resulting from the misuse of their products by others.

This bill protects the gun makers and dealers from being held liable for the misuse of their products and has nothing to do with installing locking devices on firearms.

This law also appears that it would require that a safety lock be sold with every firearm. Proper and safe firearm storage in the responsibility of the firearm owner, not the firearm maker or dealer.

.

Sorry, my friend, it is you that doesn't know what he is talking about.

The Child Safety Lock Amendment S 397 is an amendment to the Firearms Manufacturers Protection bill S 397.

Firearms Manufacturers Protection bill S 397 03/02/2004
http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_detail.php?cs_id=V3371&can_id=53270

Clinton voted No, McCain voted Yes, Obama hadn't been elected yet.

Child Safety Lock Amendment S 397 07/28/2005
http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_detail.php?cs_id=V3594&can_id=53270

Clinton, Obama, and McCain voted Yes.

In 2006 the Senate again voted on the Firearms Manufacturers Protection bill S 397 07/29/2005
http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_detail.php?cs_id=V3597&can_id=9490

Clinton and Obama voted No, McCain voted Yes.

So the only vote McCain voted the same as Obama and Clinton was the
Child Safety Lock Amendment S 397.

You are just sticking up for the people who would rather see a

Otherwise what's the problem with McCain's record on guns

John McCain has the potential to have the best one-term of any President in our lifetime. The man wants to get things done and he will.

Barack Obama may be one of the most talented politicians in our lifetime, but will prove to be (as someone earlier noted) in over his head much like Jimmy Carter.

Billary Clinton is certainly prepared for the job, but will not be able to beat McCain in the GE.

Why would I want to put a lock on a device I use for protection? It is a parents responsibility to care for their children. The Gov't does a crappy job of it. I grew up in a house with many many guns. Oddly enough no one was killed by them because we knew how to handle them. However one day after watching a zero episode my brother and I got in a sword fight with butcher knives. A trip to the ER for finger stitches followed. Should Knives be less sharp or just banned altogether??
