So I've heard some things about the slingbox, but I have a few questions. You apparently set this thing up at your home, and can watch your TV through your computer anywhere that you can get internet service?

Here's the important question. Could I buy a Slingbox and send it to a fellow Maner in the Denver area, and then have access to all local Broncos coverage?

I've vowed to never use directv again, but I can't stand having to go to the bar every Sunday and watching the games without sound and surrounded by Patriots fans. I'm also not keen on trying to find an active stream and not knowing if I'll get the game until kickoff time, and having to run to the bar at the last minute in order to watch. I need a better system.

Why are you so anti-DirecTv ?

I got my slingbox in september, I love it, I can sit in Iraq and watch my directv from halfway across the world. Its a little choppy, but I share internet with 26 other people.

I have checked out this very subject and came to a few answer's yes you could do that, but you would only be able to view them on your computer, laptop or cellphone, plus the person in Denver would have to have a separate cable box for you to use unless they want you to control what they are watching from hundreds of miles away.

I also checked into a Sony location free player, it works much the same way, they only way to view what you are watching on a regular size TV is if the output box is in the same "network" or house as the TV. Although I think I might have found a loophole with the Sony device, the new PSP 2000 now has a attachment to view what ever is on the device onto a full size TV with componet cables, the PSP is able to pick up the signal from the location free player as long as you have a HS connection so I think with all that jury-rigging and equipment you would be able to have the video sent to you and viewed on your TV rather than your laptop screen.

B/C they're the worst-run outfit I've ever come across. I'd rather try to get a cougar in a bath tub than call their customer service dept.

I just purchased a slingbox, to do just that, put it in Denver at my Brothers place. I will have it installed in a few weeks. If it works, I too, will be done with the ever increasing price of Sunday Ticket.
At least this way, I can also get the nugget, avalanche, and Rockies games.
As far as putting it on a tv, my LCD has an input for a computer monitor cord, so that is how I would view the games. Not sure if that is only on the higher end televisions or not.
I will let you know if it works.

Setup a secure Vlan, and VPN in - only you & yours can get to it (so you can avoid being found) - the VPN will slow it down a notch, but it'd work.

Why are you so anti-DirecTv ?

I have been PRO directv for many many years now, and the past 5 mnths have changed my mind drastically to the point I could care ;ess about sunday ticket and will be switching very soon........1 reason I am 100% against right now is their Tivo went out on me in Sept......called had 1 sent it was broken, called had another sent...it too was broken.....finally 10 days later I get a dtvdvr (I guess the tivo I had was no longer avail)...works fine for 4 months...one day out of nowhere access card doesn't work...called on wednesday to get a new one out, was told it would be at my house by Saturday, no later than Monday.......well comes monday no card yet...called they said hmm was sent but can't give me tracking #. Now I asked for tracking because the guy I spoke with on wednesday said it would be fed ex 2-3 days.

So I call tuesday morinig just knowing I would get a different answer soooo. I asked for tracking # again but they still couldn't give...I said if it was sent fed ex last week you would have a #..she said I agree let me get you to supervisor.....supervisor say umm well it hasn't been sent yet.......errrrr hold up.....this is the day after I should have HAD IT IN HANDS, and it wasn't sent yet.....he said it was going out that day U.S.P.S. so it will get there in 5 days or so. I said why u.s.p.s. when I was told fed ex, and why not shipped yet....his answer?? hmmmmmm don't know. he said we use fed ex only for 1 tv in house with dtv connected..I told him..obviuosly you didn't read my account BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE 1 TV CONNECTED TO DTV....silence for about 3 minutes.....then all he says is sorry youwill get in 5 business days.....come 5th day..no card.

Call to disconnect service..I'm done.....well hey guess what?? a customer that has been on the $100 monthly preimier all channel package with sunday ticket for 7 years..is still under commitment....why you ask??? because I got a new rcvr from them through insurance because thier old machine broke!!!!!! So because thier **** broke, they sent me numerous defectives ones after that and thier "new" card went to hell after 4 mnths I'm under new contract, they want me to pay $400 to get out of it.

SCREW DTV!

Dude, order a few PPV fights and a few movies and the customer service department is like dealing with a co-ed after a few shots of tequila....

for those of you not wanting to read in between the lines that = easy

I'd agree with that, I've been with them since 94 and at the premium package level and they still treat me horribly whenever I have to deal with them. I like the products they offer NFLST, 70+ HD channels, but they suck at customer service. Another rate increase this month, count on a Sunday Ticket price jacking every year (I got it for $99 in 94, this year it was $328, $229 "early bird" price and $99 for the Superfan package which is a fancy name for HD price gouging ).

Yes, you can do exactly that. It's not officially sanctioned by the Sling Media folks, but the boxes make it very easy. The box doesn't even need to be connected to a TV or DVR -- it can sit alongside the cablebox and sling the signal, so that you can watch different Denver channels without affecting what your friend is watching. Just look at the FAQ section on the Sling MEdia site, and it'll talk you through the set-up.

I was a customer longer than that until I had this first problem with a receiver of theirs...and it's been down hill ever since.

Like I said in my first post..I was always the first to stand up and defend dtv...even on this board....But not anymore!
