Could someone help me locate the dates of this years training camp? I thought it would be as simple as going to the Broncos website and looking at the calendar, but it looks empty.

Thanks!

They may have not released the official dates yet but you can expect camp to open around the last week of July and lasts around three weeks I believe.

If the Broncos follow the same format they did last year, expect many evening practices to be special teams (and god knows they need them after last season) while the morning practices feature the entire squad. Also of note, get their early if you want to go to a Saturday practice (often full contact) as they fill up very easily.

If my memory serves me correctly, the morning practices are usually at 8:30am and the afternoon practices usually start sometime between 2:30-3:30. Each practice I attended lasted about 2-3 hours except one special teams practice that was a little over an hour.

Be sure to check the schedule early and often as Shanahan has been known to cancel a practice (generally evening) every now and then. The best way to check up their practice schedule during camp is to visit their website and I also remember CBS 4 updating the practice times.

The parking lot opens an hour before practice I believe, and with the exception of Saturday, I never remember finding parking to be a problem.

I would strongly suggest wearing pants opposed to shorts and sometype of hat as you can easily find yourself sitting in one spot of the field under the bright Colorado sun for hours. Almost every person I knew who wore shorts had bad sunburns the next day. Also, make sure you take plenty of sunscreen. Another suggestion I have is to bring a seat cushion (I bought a Broncos one at the team store at camp for 5 bucks), as sitting in the same spot on the grass hill can make one quite a bit uncomfortable. One other note: if you want to take pictures, bring a camera as they won't let you use your cell phone - even to take pictures.

If you're looking for somewhere to stay, I would recommend the Ramada/Comfort Inn at the DTC. I had an awesome room with a mini-kitchen, the place has a pool to cool down in-between practices and the room was only 50 bucks a night! It's less than 10 minutes from Dove Valley, has some restaurants in the area and a Target nearby to pick up things you may need.

Hopefully this helped out, let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks very much! I am hoping to use at least a week of my vacation to get out there. So do they allow [still] cameras, then? or is it more of a cat and mouse game with security?

You can bring a digital camera, you just can't use a cell phone.

Teams can start practicing 13 or 14 days before their first preseason game so as soon as the schedule is announced you can do the math to find out when training camp opens.

Montrose got all of it right. It usually starts the last weekend of July.

The second best time of the year (Draft > Camp > Games).
