As far as accuracy goes, the combine would give us a lot more info to go on. I'll vot for after the combine, but if not lets get'er going thursday.

I voted for after the combine, but I'm ready to go now as well. Whatever the majority decides.

After really thinking about it the combine can help or hurt but most of it is how you played the game so lets kick her of now.

If you start this after the combine you will never get this finished in time.
how long does every pick get?

That would give us right around 2 months....we can finish it very easily.

I voted for next week after initially stating some time around the combine. My only concern is that we start this and then everything changes with picks being traded.

I voted for after the Combine myself. Although I would be ready next week. The problem will be getting all the picks done. More times than not these things peter out in the 3 and 4th rounds.
If we wait for the combine we'll be only a few days away from free agency, so we'll get that knowledge for drafting from about the beginning of round 2 on.
Also, last year the combine had an obvious impact on our mock, as we were in the middle rounds by the time it came around and the big climbers from the combine were then huge values simply due to the timing of it all.
Also, last year's draft began picks at 1-28-07, 12PM PST and finished on 3-24-07, 12:46PM PST. Basically 55 days. Assuming that is an accurate gauge for this year we would have enough time to just get through a few days before the real draft kicks off.
If we could've kicked it off a week ago then sure, but at this point we're only a few weeks away from the combine, so why not let it also serve as our start date?

Didn't last year, we went strong through all seven rounds. As long as we're quick to replace GMs who fall off the map, and everyone understands that we'll do so, we'll be good I think.
Whatever is fine. It seems like it makes sense to get it going before the combine though.

Didnt the year before either in fact we had a good UFA mock as well.

Yep. The OM mock has become a strong tradition around here. Got to give Socal a ton of props for that, he's been as good a moderator of the event as you could ask for, and also to Taco for helping to facilitate such a great event.
You got big shoes to fill JCM! I'm sure you're up to the task though.

I'll give it until Wednesday at midnight, but barring a huge comeback, the Combiners will get their way. If it is after the combine we will definetly have to be on the ball and get picks in as soon as possible in order to get it in before the draft.
Also, if we do it after the combine, I will be changing the first round draft time to 12 hours.

Like I posted before, the draft took 55 days last year to go all 7 rounds. If we shorten it to 12 hours for round 1 as well I'd think we should pretty easily get through it all well before the draft and be into our UDFA period.

I like the 12 hours idea. If we are going to wait all the way to the combine then people should have a really good idea what they are going to do with their first rounder(s).

Don't we have to wait for the coin flip at the combine anyway to decide the 3, 4 and 5 picks?

I may have to pull out since it looks like we may wait until after the combine, I run my own 7 round mock, but I will ahve to see how much time I have with school. Really sucks cause I was ready to do this now, then again I could always start my own on here right now.

The only valid arguement I've seen this far to even consider waiting until the combine... but I would argue that those of us that follow NCAA football closely will lose out on the opportunity to get a steal in the later rounds as well. A perfect example would be Jamaal Charles. Right now he's considered a mid 2nd round pick. When he weighs in at 210 and runs a 4.3 it will push him into round 1.
One or two weeks isn't going to hurt my feelings any. I think it's funny that people need the combine #'s to set their draft boards though. Not that you need them Drek, but it appears that many around here do.

Well that and as Roh said, we don't have the correct draft order yet.

OK, the masses have spoken. We will start the draft directly after the combine. If we run out of time, we'll know that timing does not work for future mocks. If anyone wants to start their own two round mock, there's nothing stopping you. Hell, I might even sign up for a team.
Also, it will be nice to have the correct coin flip order and see what trades go through.
If anyone needs to drop out because of this, please let me know and I'll plug some other folks in. Sorry to those who are disappointed.

Not everyone is a big dratnik though and I think letting everyone start on a roughly even footing is the ideal, since then its about talent recognition, not how well you dig up accurate projections for someone's 40 time or weigh in.
Also, Charles is a 2nd round back unless he runs a 4.0 flat. McFadden, Stewart, Mendenhall, and Jones all are solidly over him and I'd put Ray Rice there as well. This draft is stupid deep at RB.

I think McFadden, Stewart and Mendenhal are all ahead of him, yes, but don't be suprised if Charles is a first round pick as well. He has very similar size compared to McFadden but he's faster. Stronger than Jones or Rice. Who knows though, he has had butter fingers at times so that could drop him. But this is a guy that has run a 10.17 100m in college. The last time you had somebody that fast in the draft was probably Michael Bennett. The thing with Charles is his 6'1 frame can easily add another 10 lbs putting him around 215-220 and not lose too much speed.

Count me out, I know this thing drags and by that time I won't be as up for it because I will have my own 7 round coming around the ben.
I may start a 7 rounder that will start this week around here too, if people are interested who wanna do it right now instead of waiting.
I was under the assumption when I signed up for this that it would be starting within a week.

I don't think many would have a lot of interest when a 7 rounder is starting in just a couple of weeks. You may get some takers for a 1-2 rounder, however.

on 2nd thought if you havent found a new KC owner I will just stay. Since it is a long time frame it wont keep me too much and someone like SpringStein can just send me a message when I am up.
