What a joke... "best team ever."
I have plenty of respect for the Pats and what they've done, but you had to be 23 shades of stupid to think they were even close to being the best ever, even if they won today.
Thankfully, they didn't... and I only say that so we don't have to spend the rest of our lives debating it with the football-challenged.
I can rattle off 5 SB teams that would have beaten them, if not 10... if not 15.
Oh, and congrats to the Giants who prove once again... defense wins championships.

So fitting that this game came down to the trenches, too.
It always does, folks. It's always the defense that decides these big games.

i don't mind eating a little crow here...
i don't think anyone is "stupid" for claiming a 19-0 team as the best ever...you're just emotional after the game...
but with that said...even if the pats had won...the way the played today...there's no way they're best ever...maybe top 5 but not best ever...that still goes to the 89 niners....
pats looked like a different team from the won we say blowing teams out by 20+ points...
it just comes full circle with the whole spygate debacle going right now....
interesting...

Yeah I was not impressed either. Thank goodness they lost so there will be no question about it outside of the occasional "what if" discussion.

Well that Giant Dline gave St. Tom everything he could handle. The drive they had for the TD, St. Tom was getting the underneath guy and picking up the sort stuff. Worked for that time, but when he needed to go long, he couldn't because that line was gonna get his arse, and he knew it. Welker had a great game, but the Giants seemed to be playing the prevent or the Tampa 2 or whatever to stop the long throws. Reminded me of the Denver D.
Anyway, the point is that the Dline needs to do teh job, an dif it can it can take over the game, even moreso than Oline, I think. Put me down as a believer in the need for a good Dline. I think I saw a good inspiration for getting a Dline in Denver........

Congrats to the Giants. I was surprised they didn't win by more than three.

Yup, i've been telling people for months that I could find at least 5 super bowl championship teams over the past 20 years that could beat this Patriots team. Thank god we are spared the thought of having to hear about them being the greatest of all time.

Not me. They are just part of the other 31 losers this season. I would rather go 9-7 and win the Super Bowl
Shouldnt the best team ever win the Super Bowl? Doesnt that mean the 2007 Pats are no better than the 43rd best team ever?

Without a doubt. This pat team could not run the ball. We would have eaten them alive. Romo would have eaten Brady's head. Add in the fact the Elway never lost to these guys and you are correct.

I think the people that remember the loses from the previous super bowls understand why it is preferable to not go than to go and lose. People forget, but there was a lot of anxiety around Denver about the game against the Packers in '98. I remember people saying that they just didn't want to get blown out again and winning was out of the question for many. Vegas didn't do much to help those fears. We won and the rest is history, but the hangover from those three previous loses, particularly the Niners blowout, still sticks in many a craw.

Have to disagree. Remember all of the Broncos SB's and the devastation particularly of losing the Giants and Redskins SB's. But I always felt it was better to go and lose than not to go at all.

I'll never understand why playing in a Championship game scares some people. I've seen it happen many a time, but I can't understand it. Hell, playing in a Title game is fun. Some people are scared of losing is the only explanation I guess.

best grab in SB history....(even better than the lynn swann catches)
the swann cathes were prettier but the tyree catch was more impactful and even more impressive of a catch....

Their division was really weak..no other team even had a winning record..know one in the NFC east had a losing record..i think it's benifical to have a strong division when your team makes the playoffs..especially when your team gets on a hot streak like the giants did.

The Patriots wouldn't have had any answer for a team that could run the ball. The Giants gave up on it, but had success early.
Can you imagine the 90s Cowboys, Broncos or 49ers running all over that team? It wouldn't even have been close.
Again, I'm not a Patriots-hater... I'm just relieved I don't have to listen to the football-illiterate calling them the best team ever.

All these new mellenium teams don't even come close to stacking up to ANY championship team from the 80s or 90s. In those days, if you had a talented team, you kept it for a decade.

TD would have stuffed the ball down their throats until the Pats old defense was begging for mercy, and then he would run some more.

What a pathetically frail mindset to rather be 7-9 and hide behind a veil of anonymous mediocrity than to reach the ulitmate arena and lay bear the soul of endeavor, regardless of the outcome.
You can't win the Super Bowl if you're not in it.

That's the argument I used for years against the world of casual fans who thought SB losers were super losers and that meant the Broncos losing 4 SBs made them the biggest super duper loser of all.

I'm just glad they lost so the Patriot A** kissers in Bristol were forced to stop (Sean Salisbury). I hate the hypothetical best ever. There can only be best of their era. The game has changed so much in the past 40 years that it is impossible to say what team from another era in football would do against another team from another era.
