With Chiefs getting Price, they have hired some serious talent on that staff. Forget all the anti Herm catterwalling, they have upgraded substantially...while we have done what?

Not sure if this was posted as a tongue in cheek, but I am starting to believe that we may actually see some addition by subtraction here. We had some many freaking Asst. Head Coaches and the like last year that I think the players heads must've been spinning on direction, coaching and the like.
We've overcomplicated things and my hope is that we can just focus on coaching, keep things basic and go from there. I mean, we couldn't even tackle last year on D and never seemed to get a real identity on O. Perhaps taking out unneccesary layers of management will have the same effect in football that it does in business . . . . .

And here's something else, Bob: I have eight different bosses right now.
I beg your pardon?
Eight bosses.
Eight?
Eight, Bob. So that means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled; that, and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired.

In that case, I'd say the Broncos have focused on cutting some dead weight.
Why rush to make additions to the coaching staff in January when they probably don't even know what schemes they want to run on both sides of the ball yet in 2008?
I say: agree on a scheme and then acquire the talent (at both player and coaching levels, if necessary) that excel at that scheme. Don't do what they did last season by rushing to sign big name coaches that run schemes which don't match your personnel.

Did they hire Mike Price's son? I heard that they were pursuing that possibility, but I thought it was dropped with the hiring of Chan Gailey...

Lol, I miss price too. However he was much better at recruiting than our current coach which was a big part of his success. See how he does on a level playing field.

OK. I found the article, for anybody interested in reading it...

MOBILE, Ala. | The Chiefs finalized their coaching staff Tuesday by hiring Texas-El Paso offensive coordinator Eric Price to work with wide receivers.
Herm Edwards’ first choice as receivers coach was former UCLA coach Karl Dorrell, but Dorrell accepted a position with the Miami Dolphins instead.
Price, who was on Edwards’ staff with the New York Jets, interviewed to be the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator. That job went instead to Chan Gailey.
The other new offensive coaches are Bob Bicknell (offensive line) and Curtis Modkins (running backs).
“It worked out very well for us,” Edwards said. “Eric Price is a good young coach. I’ve been with him before and I know who he is. He’ll be a coordinator somewhere someday.

OK Herm. If you are so sure he'll be a coordinator somewhere, then why was he only your second choice to coach WRs?

Price was joining their staff regardless. If Karl Dorrell had taken the job as WR coach, Price would have coached the QBs.
And it's kind of silly to say "if Herm's so sure he'll be a coordinator" when Herm interviewed him to do exactly that. The fact they were able to turn him down for the OC job and still add him to the staff is a solid move.

Talk about a good spin job. It is primary season after all, I guess.

Um, I'm not sure where the train has gone off the rails for you, but when you said "OK Herm. If you are so sure he'll be a coordinator somewhere...", that was kind of stupid. Because, you know, Herm interviewed him to be their coordinator. Quite obviously he thinks the guy will be a coordinator if he interviewed him for that very position.
Your ignorance on this topic is not "spin", I'm afraid. It's all too real.

KC's staff is significantly better, mainly because of Gailey. I'm so pleased that we now have an OC that knows how to make good calls and knows how to work with QB's.
People forget that Chan Gailey was the one who coached Kordell Stewart and made him look good. He knows how to set up the running game and takes shots down the field frequently. Solari was bad, but I think the biggest reason was because he had no experience as a first time OC.
I like the Price signing too. Price did a great job at UTEP and works well with WR's. Bowe is gonna be a star soon, but KC desperately needs somebody opposite of him when Kennison is let go

Don't they still have David Gibbs? What a stud! We owe him a personal debt of gratitude for vouching for Willie Middlebrooks.
It's unfortunate, though, that the Chiefs took his picture for the media guide while he was making poop - clearly, his diet is short on fiber.
(Also, I am always taken by the sheer size of Gibbs' forehead. It has to be 40% of his face. It's like Sputnik!)

d'oh, I just got to work and don't really have the time to get into it at the moment. I can tell you (on a positive note) up front that we at UTEP were hoping he would take over as HC whenever his dad retires. :( However, personally as an OC I was pretty frustrated with his generic play calling.
Also, you might be familiar with one of his students: http://www.nfl.com/players/profile?id=00-0025486

Chiefs have made some pretty good hires. However, all those good hires are negated by the fact they have to work for Herm and his butt boy Curl. Unless the Chiefs get a QB coach, Croyle is done (may be anyway, but he doesn't have a chance with Curl the QB coach) I am still jealous over the Cutler pick.
