Just go out and find one of the best selling NFL videos EVER called Elway's Greatest Comebacks. Orange Sunday is a great one too of the whole organization but watching Elway torch Marty 25% of the videos is classic.

Elway was freaking awesome.

Now, we have to see if Cutler can get close to that. I heard some compared Cutler to Favre. That's okay, too. However, someday, I'd like for people to be talking about Cutler as one of the top three, four or five QBs to ever play the game. Just getting to the top seven or so would be awesome if you include some of the past QBs like Graham, Baugh, or even Jorgensen. Can he get there? Maybe.....

The fact is, there have been some great players over the years. Some were marvelous althletes. But when you tallk about the QB position, there have been many great ones, but only a few who carried teams on their backs. Elway was the best at that, and maybe Favre would be second to him.

But the future is Cutler.....

Man. It never fails. I always get a bit misty watching those highlights. I don't care what any pundits say. Those Broncos could have beaten the great Steeler, 49er, and Cowboys teams of all time. They were just that good.

Great vids----and thanks for bringing back the memories.

I think Elway is the BEST QB EVER! The teams Elway took to those first 3 SB's was just utterly amazing! Farve, Marino, Brady, Aikman, Marino, Bradshaw, Staubach and Kelly, etc., all had had much more talented players to play with than Elway had. It took Elway 13 seasons b-4 he finally had some talent to play with.

Imagine Farve having to play with a HC like Bill Parcells for his first 8 to 10 years in the league.....Parcells would have absolutely killed Farve's passing stats. Well Elway's stats were killed and kept in check by not only Dan Reeves un-imaginative passing schemes, but Reeves never got Elway a talented cast of players to play with as well.

What everyone must remember about Elway, is all the wear and tear-punishment he took over a 16 year career. Elway holds the NFL record for the most SACKS @ over 543!!!!!! This is nothing short of astonishing in my opinion. 543 sacks equal 2 sacks per game for 16 years!

Given the fact for the majority of Elways career, he did not have the rules protection that QB's today have to play with. Back in the 80's and 90's, QB's had to be tough as nails b/c opposing Defenses could really un-load on QB's. Also, the past 8 years, QB's and WR's have benefited from all the rules changes that help the offenses score more, so Farve stats have reflected this. Elway did not have the benefits of playing under the same rules where QB's got extra protections and WR's could not be touched after 5 yards!!!

IMHO Elway could have played 20 years had he not had to endure 543 sacks in his career. Oh did I also mention the countless of times Elway pulled the ball down and took off running (scrambling) to make something out of nothing.....well he got hit or lit up quite a few times for his troubles to keep drives alive! Elways is 6th on the list of QB's for rushing the ball at 3,400 yards compared to Farve's 1,700 yards. Elway having to rush the ball for 3,400 and enduring over 543 sacks....proves what horrifically bad Bronco teams Elway had to play with!!!

No way does Marino, Montana, Kelly, and Aikmen, could have endured 543 sacks and remain standing and in good enough health to put up the passing stats they currently have. These guys were incubator QB's who were well insulated with talented players. Nor would they have survived long enough to lead their teams to all the SB appearances and wins.

Elway was a Freak of Nature when you factor in his howitzer arm strength, his ability to keep drives alive with his feet, his ability to take mediocre players and make them believe they can win no matter what the odds. Imagine the history of the NFL had Oakland or the Cowboys were able to draft Elway!!!!! Both teams were trying desperately to move up in the draft to draft Elway.....but were unable to make the moon, venus, pluto and the stars to line up to pull it off!

Theres no doubt in my mind had Elway had the talent that the Aikmen's, Marino's, Frave's, and Montana's had, Elway would hold all the QB stats and perhaps SB victories!!

Elway was a true leader of men! In fact his last name proves this:

El= The........and the word Way.........THE WAY......Elway leads the way!!

Just my opinion....but hell, I'm a homer!
